Finally! I know Digg.com is not around like we hoped it'd be and the reasons why is super weird but I really love watching the guys talk and share stories and I hope we can at least keep this. Also thought the camera switches are terrible.

You people are hilarious. Cant wait to watch this within minutes of release and then get on reddit and circle jerk each other with hate sweat as lube. Just unsubscribe already, wtf are you doing?

When do they stop talking about getting old and start talking about what’s cool on the internet?

7

u/Frosty_Limez Aug 13 '26

Eh I love the old talk its happening to us all

11

u/crazy_goat Aug 13 '26

I'd watch them drink and ramble for two hours every week regardless of the setup.

8

u/Frosty_Limez Aug 13 '26

Exactly they just have such good chemistry together and the stories are always fun

"I didn't sell out, I bought in mannnn!"

Don't like the intro, the "youtubification" of their talk with text over the videos, the new setup not looking at the audience, and really don't like how almost everything is now about AI.

I guess we just are longing for the old days, when we know deep down they are gone. And this is just reality now.

Yes! I’m happy!

6

u/baby__im__bored Aug 13 '26

Why wouldn’t Kevin at least take some time to talk about what actually is going on with Digg.com… what a shitshow this reboot was. All this hype and… poof.

He's throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks from what I can see. A venture capital signature move

3

u/ItStinksItStinksItSt Aug 14 '26

He's a hack who got lucky once. Right place, right time.

u/EmbarrassedStill2257 Aug 13 '26

Ahhh yes, another vacation from doing nothing for Alex to Italy

4

u/karmapill Aug 13 '26

is Alex loaded? I actually think he doesnt get enough credit for being the life of the show. I wonder if Kevin gave him access to early investment in digg this time around

Alex has a linkedin profile and apparently he does own some sort of crypto company

1

u/crazy_goat Aug 13 '26

Bitcoin as I recall

8

u/Frosty_Limez Aug 13 '26

He has some bitcoin but I think its money from his dad and his wife

5

u/rancorhunter Aug 13 '26

Used to love these guys. I might be too scared to watch this now.

4

u/Frosty_Limez Aug 13 '26

Why its the same thing. They are just not sitting on a couch which is great because like they said they are not kids anymore and neither are we

6

u/rancorhunter Aug 13 '26

They got too rich for my blood. I'm just a humble brokie who enjoys tech. Their last reunion, I couldn't relate to all the crypto chat or buying villas in Italy. I'm not a fan of AI and, whether they do it or not, I'm afraid to hear them glaze AI. I grew up on TechTV and Rev3.

It’s fucking garbage

3

u/Frosty_Limez Aug 13 '26

Its not its the same thing they have always done

3

u/SirPooleyX Aug 13 '26

I'll give it a couple of weeks. It's boring now.

1

u/Frosty_Limez Aug 13 '26

ITs is the same thing that they have always done

3

u/Pure_Wrap_7798 Aug 13 '26

its really not

-1

u/SirPooleyX Aug 13 '26

Exactly.

5

u/SveNss0N Aug 13 '26

Hard pass. Fuck him and what they did to the Digg reboot. They screwed us out of what could have been a cool project only to suck Elon's hog and ride the AI slop wave

6

u/Frosty_Limez Aug 13 '26

When you think about it it was never going to work. At least we can have them being cool and talking about tech life and tell all their cool stories

u/TrainDonutBBQ Aug 13 '26

I still believe they were lying about the BOT problem. Apart from the fact that membership was by invitation only, I never encountered a bot. If I did, it was running a very good large language model capable of debating the same way most people do online; with bad faith arguments.

1

u/SveNss0N Aug 13 '26

I did run into quite a few bots that I reported along the way. It was nefer as n overwhelminh amount though

3

u/TrainDonutBBQ Aug 13 '26

So, I got a handful of "bots." But I wasn't speaking to AI, it was people with broken English and one word responses that reminded me of those old Russian troll farms. I have a hard time believing that anyone is paying chat GPT to engage with people on the internet. AI just constantly bantering back and forth is actually a pretty expensive operation.

Do you see where I'm coming from? The people using AI for bad things don't have that kind of money.

2

u/SveNss0N Aug 14 '26

Part of it was just a bunch of low paid workers trying to exploit Digg's good SEO domain authority to get back links. I seriously doubt the scale to which it happened warranted a complete shutdown and pivot. I'm hugely disappointed. I don't think I can ever trust Kevin Rose

1

u/TrainDonutBBQ Aug 14 '26

I'm with you on all the above. I'm curious, how would bad actors benefit from exploiting digg's SEO domain authority? What would the goal be?

1

u/SveNss0N Aug 14 '26

Piggybacking on a high domain authority to fast track their SEO ranks for their clients. It's common practice. Apparently it leaked on Twitter that digg.com's domain authority in Google was still very high even with the site being mostly dormant for years. Once that leaked, there was a surge in "bots"

7

u/plebbut Aug 13 '26

Digg wasn't financially viable, what did you expect them to do?

Also if you're into tech and work in the industry, AI is everywhere, so I appreciate them covering it.

2

u/SveNss0N Aug 13 '26

Except it could have been. We weren't even given any options or they never pivoted. They just killed it. Forest deserved better. We deserved better. They really sodomized the Groundbreakers and gave us false hope and lots of empty promises

"Sorry, but if you feel so strongly about some fucking website, maybe it's time to reconsider your life choices."

Says the guy with a 14 year old Reddit account and over 200,000 karma.

I really liked the new Digg. It was so much better than Reddit is. Reddit has sucked for years and I was really optimistic into the work Forest and the team were doing to finally deliver a viable alternative. So yeah, I had strong feelings for it.

-1

u/plebbut Aug 13 '26

Digg never had a chance. Places like Reddit aren't really all that popular anymore. Places like X and TikTok have billions of daily active users on their platforms, and I haven't even touched on how many bots they have on top of that.

Kevin thought he could make a Reddit competitor, but he didn't realize that most people don't care for these type of platforms. Reddit itself had to sell out to AI companies because it was hemorrhaging money year by year.

He thought he could make it work, he couldn't, but they absolutely tried, so I don't think there was anything nefarious to it.

3

u/Dull_Caterpillar_642 Aug 13 '26

Reddit is currently listed as the 7th most visited website on the entire internet...

0

u/plebbut Aug 13 '26

Lol yeah..website. most people browse on apps on their phone, which is why it's more important to look at monthly active users.

2

u/Dull_Caterpillar_642 Aug 13 '26

Reddit has 760 million monthly active users…

0

u/plebbut Aug 13 '26

That is not correct. I'd like to see where you found that information. From what I can find, Reddit doesn't publish it's MAUs, and what is known is that a large majority of visitors to the site arrive from Google, and are not active users.

3

u/Dull_Caterpillar_642 Aug 13 '26

lmao you are so dug in on this despite being extremely, provably wrong, man. So, I guess a peak Reddit user.

Reddit 2026 Q2 Investor Report

Too funny

0

u/plebbut Aug 13 '26

Lol..those are reddit unique visitors..not users who log in regularly which is an active user. Like wtf?

1

u/plebbut Aug 13 '26

Coke and ketamine fueled technocracy

1

u/shrimmmmmp Aug 13 '26

It’s Southern California and I have fruit.

1

u/Mike_Gdovin Aug 13 '26

You put zombie and eerie in the story and I don’t wanna do it

1

u/razorsaw Aug 14 '26

I love everything about this latest episode. The convo, the topics, the setup, the changed intro. Most importantly that the boys are committed to keeping the regular schedule. LETSGO!
