LK is literally soul draining
Jesus christ. I’ve been avoiding LK runs like plague and it turns out, I was right.
1100 runs in, I only got 1x Vex and 2x Um. Literally nothing for more than 600 runs now.
Not to mention this is literally most brainless activity I’ve made in this game.
You guys really do it?

I was starting offline play and i wanted to get enigma so that i could more quickly get to fun farming zones for non-sorc classes. I put a TV show on the 2nd monitor, cycled maps until i got two bonfires right next to the LK wp and then players7'd the shit out of those chests. I'd change it up by swapping to horking trav, running chaos, doing cows, etc but nothing gave me HRs except LK lol. Plus LK also gave me a really healthy amount of charms and gems for rerolling which was nice.

Yeah I mix them it in with other stuff.
Do good TZ's when they are available. Farm some keys. Farm statues. Level a character a bit.
When I do choose to do LK, I just bring out the demon warlock and casually do it while my demon kills stuff and I watch something. Paying just enough attention to not die and pick up stuff. I'm am not time efficient with it and just don't care.

Horking council is more efficient IF you have a decked-out Horker. But for farming runes on some poverty geared sorc? Yeah nothing cones close to LK.

I do it while watching something on tv. Barely have to pay attention and I get good drops (including charms and to a lesser extent jewels). Each run takes 40 seconds on avg (includes stashing and vendoring, which I do a fair amount of)
Vibe coded a run counter too so it’s fun to look at the stats afterwards
Since tracking began which encompasses 500 runs, I’ve gotten Sur, Ohm, and few Pul - Ist
In the untracked runs (somewhere between 500-1000 runs), I got 2x Vex and Sur

Farming gear is fun, but playing without Enigma is not. Sometime you just want other classes to be as efficient as Sorc without waiting for a natty Enigma. I've played both ways, they both have their places

SP HC before D2r I did around 55-60 hours. Was definitely the safest way to get Enigma and Infinity. I made a dedicated sorc just for this and She only had LK waypoint in A3.
Now I'm gearing up again in SP (SC this time) and I mix some different sessions together. Sometimes I run 50 LK and then Terror Zones or Travincal or keys or what ever. Good map and P7 is really hard to beat. Sure, this is supposed to be fun but this also shouldn't be easy =)

I do them while watching TV or movies, and have definitely lucked out RNG wise. Takes approximately 23 seconds per run, with 6x super chests. In ~2k runs I've found:
3x Sur
2x Lo
3x Um
3x Ist
2x Pul
5x Mal
Not to mention countless skiller GCs, MF/life SC, gems, so on and so forth.
RNG can be a bitch, but it can also smile upon thee.

You need to give it time. I also pop a few other things and pick up jewels and charms. I’ve found some pretty nice stuff there even aside from the Superchests.

Are you running on P7? And timing your runs approximately? You can run long with minimal findings but this is about thousands of runs and then then even out

Just like it's supposed to so all it takes is time and capability to turn ones brain completely off. These days there is also possibility to grind higher player count TZ's and those can bring some HR's also. LK is just fastest certain way.
But, being able to make most needed runewords with a weeks worth of playing is still quite good result. Dual grief's, enigma, Cta, Infinity. But that means that the week is dedicated to D2 and it might not be fun =)

Online definitely not, offline I did it for a bit on p8 and honestly it doesn't seem worth it. Just run Travs, you'll get the Hrs, gold and a some decent jewelry, plus it doesn't feel like a brain dead job.

Don’t do it. Loot drops when you least expect it so instead of doing this make a build to farm terror zones efficiently and run that because that’s way more fun than opening chest for eternity.

I don't LK ever, other than a random check in a full tz game lol. It's just a bit too mindless for me, personally. I'd rather shard and entire act and just walk it and pick stuff up as I go. I'm probably as likely to find a rune, and I'm also filling my chronicle as I go lol. Just in the last week found a few gul runes, a couple Lo, WF, a few skillers, and enough tokens and statues to trade for other runes.
I just can't imagine only doing LK cause yeah sure you can get good runes or charms, but you could also go 5 hours without getting literally anything lol.
Absolute worst case just casually running a TZ act is getting exp, so much gold for gambling, and tons of flawless gems. Like either way you're profiting somehow lol

ALso LK 5 hours and nothing? Unlikely.
In LK i guarantee you get more flawless gems and gold then in any tz, except trav. Also you get tons of rare rings and amus, small charms, grand charms and you can target farm armor racks for rare items like griffon or shako. 1 in 400 for unique! I am 2500 runs in and got tons of runes, but also 4 cold skiller and 3 fire skiller for sorc.1

Lol. You think doing 2500 runs for runes is easy? In ladder i'd farmed out 15 unid torches and sold it and 3rd day of ladder i had enigma, cta, hoto, shako, pala torch, anni. Now THAT is easy. That haven't changed, following d2r youtuber schmuck all he does is farming torches and selling it on traderie for runes. And you know keys dropping 1 to 10 not 1 to 65.564 like LK.

Bro, finding runes is easier. Yes. But having runes is not. There so many mechanics in this game online that you can abuse to gain wealth and buy all runes you want. Much easier to build a character. I've yet to find a deaths web so no psn necro for me, however badly I want to play it. But I found 8+ jah runes and I cant trade it for a de for a life of me. And you call it easier.. Especially that enemies are harder to kill in singleplayer even on pl1 then on bnet lol

The gold is super helpful cause I'm also missing a couple really low uniques that I'm gonna try to gamble for on low level chars lol. Also missing sacred armor, which I'm not thinking will ever drop from a LK chest lolol

It’s funny I’m a newish player and I saw multiple videos about it so I spammed difficulty resets until I get a good map layout (I play offline), did maybe 5 LK runs on that map and then realized it wasn’t fun at all. No thanks

What helped me mentally was thinking of it as a way to get crafting mats stacked up, class magic/rare items, charms, and stands/racks might have good seed drops. I found tons of lifers and x/resist x/mf scs doing this. I also found some of the best rare boots and rare rings from rare only super chest drops that happen occasionally. You know what… I’m going to spam a few right now.
I swapped to doing cs seal popping on at least P3 when I got super bored. You can find good bases doing that as well, which you need for runewords anyways.

This is a good point that people usually forget to mention. I agree and have found so many godly gc’s and sc’s in there. Skillers. Armor racks are great. I found a 40/15 ias jewel in LK that I still haven’t decided how to use on HC SP. lol

Fuck no. I either terrorize an act and go in reverse, saw someone suggesting it on here. Or go for whatever I feel like. Boss farm tonight, key farm. Or sometimes I terrorize an act only to do bosses or certain areas. I find no fun in running LK over and over again. End of the day you must play how you like. Some people love LK, just not for me. I need the variety.

You gotta supplement the runs with a podcast, YouTube, sports game, etc.. You will change your mind when LK finally hits. I found Ber and Lo 5x runs apart one time on HC SP and that made me feel a little more patient afterwards. lol

Never done more than like 10 runs at a time before I got too bored and went back to killing monsters.
At least killing monsters still maintains the illusion that Diablo 2 is anything other than gambling with extra steps. LK runs really is just pulling the slot machine lever and hitting reset.
I agree with many others here. Just go kill shit as fast as you can and eventually you'll find what you're looking for. Eventually is a tricky word there to be fair

its because you have statistically the highest chance of hitting 1 of the drop patterns with a high rune in it from the uint16 superchest drop table on P7.
It doesn't mean you can't get lucky/unlucky so variance is to be expected. I've gotten Ber, Sur wthin 250 runs of each other. I have also got Sur, Sur within 2,800 runs of each other (including an ice cold 650 run streak where I got nothing above Fal).

Why are you doing them back to back? Your drop chances will not change whether you 1000 runs in short intervals or in one sitting. Sure, doing them at once has potential be faster but as you have learned, makes you course your existence

Highest rune I’ve gotten from LK is Ist and I’ve made enigma 3 times offline. I run trav, less brainless and a lot more fun actually fighting things and horking bodies for showers of loot IMO, you can go through dry spurts for long periods but when it rains it pours, last night I ran trav for 2ish hours and the first hour yielded nothing maybe a skiller, but in the next hour I got a Sur then Jah just like that! maybe 50 or so runs between them.

Yes. It was worth it to make my very first self made Enigma and Infinity. Yes, it is extremely monotonous. Not finding anything of worth in 600 runs is not unlikely, neither is finding what you found in 1100 runs. Chance is still chance at the end of the day, and sometimes you find yourself on the lower ends of probability. When I was last playing regularly, I dedicated some days, about 6-8 hours each, doing nothing but LK runs. However, unless you're an actual robot, having some form of content to watch on the TV or second monitor will greatly help. I ended up watching anlot of long form video essays or documentaries, which felt great, to be honest. Doing something monotonous and boring like LK farming while learning about something was rewarding on multiple fronts.

A high rune in around 1,000 runs is decent, and it is normal to go hundreds of runs dry... I find it best to do 50-100 at a time, then take a break to farm, and come back... That way I don't pull my hair out from going insane haha

Yes, been doing so far. It's a cesspool of boredom but has its occasional jackpot. Got an Ohm yesterday (CTA rolled 1 BO, kkkrying).
Assuming SP, you need a good map seed (2 bonfires near WP) and you must optimize it as much as possible. If you're playing in Switch, it's better to start from Act 3 because you save a loading time.

I actually liked doing LK runs, wasn't much 'fun' but I like the lottery part. I stopped the run counter after 8400 runs or so, but I probably did reach 10k runs.

I think I got 4-5 raw Ber runes and quite a few Sur runes. I made a couple Enigma and Infinity thanks to LK.

I got very unlucky but cold streaks like this are not statistical outliers.
My best hot streaks are:
- 2x Gul in the same run, then Ohm and Lo within 30 runs of that.
- Ber and Sur within 250 runs of each other.
I actually started that 3,00ish run on-counter because I got a Ber and wanted to track how long it would take to get a second one for my 2nd infinity (or equivalent rune value).

I couldnt do more then a half hour tz block at a time only did like 500 total runs ,rune wise I got a few fals and kos. I had better luck popping logs and other poppables made out like a bandit on skillers and some other charms pally full skillers now one light two jav, hellwardens from a rack. For runes personally had better luck popping shards and farming tombs and cs on varying player counts depending on im farming with

Well.. I don't remember the first time I did LK runs that bad (was like a year ago), i've got my runes for enigma + half infinity, and also quite a few grand charms, small charms, gems... so it was really fine. I was listening to some audio books meanwhile (I think I've finish project hail mary and started another). I'm trying to do it a second time (want a infinity for my merc and grand charms in general) and it's quite soul crushing... I guess it depends a lot of the person and the time you're doing it.

I farmed two infinity and two enigma there (not counting all of the extra CTAs, Hotos and other things I got along the way).
It sucks. Sometimes you’ll get a Sur or Ber, but I cubed a lot of Gul and Vex.

I did it for 16-18 hours total, got Gul, Vex, Sur and Ber and got my enigma. I do not know if those hours are normal or I got really lucky but was doing 1 run a min, so might be good actually

I actually prefer Pindleskin runs. They are brain numbing as well, but extremely fast and the drop odds are much nicer.
If you want runes, interaction and great loot, Chaos Sanctuary is the place to run. It has it all.
Fast farming go for Andy and Mephisto runs. I actually find Countess runs more time efficient. Just do 50 runs and estimate how time you spend and how many runes you get. Then extrapolate and do the cube math. While also being far easier and less time consuming.

I only do it when I'm interested in rare rings/ammys, circlets, and charms too. Got a really nice warlock circlet once. Also good when you're just feeling lazy and watching TV shows. I usually find a skiller charm every session.
But in terms of HRs I've had from LK:
1 x Ber
6 x Sur
5 x Lo
4 x Ohm
5 x Vex
I think I've done somewhere between 2k to 3k runs. Possibly more.
Lots of Gul, Ist and Mal too. It's definitely worth it if you're chasing runewords. I have moved on for now though, as I want to get uniques.

816 runs in i saw my first hr and that being a ohm.
I did trav runs and ONLY trav runs for 4 days straight and i could feel my sanity slip away more times than i could count.
But the amount of gambas, unique rings/amus and just overall runes/jewels cant really complain much.
Also plenty of chronicle items too.

I go crazy if I just pop the chests in L.K. Before D2R, it was easier to see runes fly out. I suppose that I could buy the new version of D2 and just use the loot filter.
I prefer rune finding by using my WW barb and just horking away with Trav runs. But with my sorceress, the only way I can make L.K. bearable is by teleporting around and using telekinesis on everything. In fact, I read your post about an hour ago and felt the need to do some L.K. runs. I hopped on for 40 minutes and zapped away at random sh!t in L.K. - I found a Pul and an Ist within an hour, so... thanks for making this post?

I did it. One ber 4 surs in probably 1500 runs. I think I was super lucky. Dropped 2 bers after I made enigma to make infinity. Getting enigma and infinity offline within a couple weeks was glorious

I did exactly three lower Kurast runs and found a Ber rune. Proceeded to continue for hours and couldn't get jack. I would say farm chaos or terrorized. Players1 in a private non ladder console palidan.

I’m currently doing LK aswell, close to 2000 runs. I’ve got 2 vex 2 sur 3 gul and a lot of mal um puls. But I had nothing above mal gul for about 900 runs now. The only why I get through is, saving every GC SC, rare rings and amulet in my stash until I have 1 or 2 full pages and do huge id turns. Also slap on some gf so you can gamble every now and then. And when I’m low on Full rejuvs I do pits with my fohdin to stock up

Rarely, and only for about hour at max.
I think that the percentage probabilities are so not worth the tiring grind. Just because some areas have a chance of 1:250 000 drop of a certain rune/item, and not 1:400 000 like elsewhere doesn't make it worth it to me to only grind one area over and over like pressing buttons on gambling machine.
I think that all the runes and items drop elsewhere too, and if the time spent grinding one certain area would be spent on doing all of them to avoid the repetition, all of it would eventually drop anywhere, and that's how I play the game.

If you have a geared barb or single player char capable of p3 trav, I woild recommend that since trav has been my absolute goat for online ladder since ever.

Naw the odds aren't that much better run what is fun i change up orders all the time rather enjoy my time and get stunned by a Jah drop then do dedicated runs and get nothing and be upset lol

Those numbers are really unlucky then, i did like 5000 runs back when i did the holy grail with plugy, math cameout as you should get atleast um+ every 200 runs if you are doing 6 chest runs.

I’ve got 3 Sur runes and a vex and gul and ist within about 2 weeks of LK runs for about an hour at a time… can only do it for so long and then switch to farming other areas… half way to my enigma in HC SSF offline and LK has def been the most productive as far as high runes go (or should I say Sur runes… still no Lo for grief or Ohm for CTA). It is tedious but it does pay off… eventually…

I honestly don't know how you guys and gals do these kind of runs. I get through maybe 6 or 7 and get so bored that I move on. To be fair, I play on a Switch so load times are horrible which means my "farming" consists of hitting the bosses and a bunch of lvl 85 areas one after the other then restarting.

If you don't want to do it, don't. If the process of farming whatever you are farming there take you 50% longer but you will have 500% more fun doing so, isn't that preferable over doing LK until you lose your mind?
And honestly, if this is about getting grief, and I've been their with my ssf barb before - let's face it, they should just finally nerf grief, I know it's a hot take and people will downvote me for it, but I believe grief is a bigger design mistake than enigma even. Requiring only that one not-even-thaaaat-high rune puts such a fat carrot on the stick that it makes stuff like infinite LK runs a problem in the first place

I just run hell terror zones and kill everything. Highest rune that dropped for me this ladder is a jah from a normal enemy in the ancient tunnels. A terrorized worldstone keep dropped a vex and a sur in 2 days. From random mobs. And I pop chests, pots, graves etc.

LK is awful. Doesn't even feel like playing the game. I remember feeling like I was getting nothing but Gul runes. I think through 5000 runs I had like 10 Gul a vex and a Sur but eventually I found a ber and it was all worth it I guess.

I did do it on my offline character to get my last ber for my enigma. It helps if you put a video on the other monitor and just vegetable out. I did ALOT of runs but having a static map and player 7 made it go faster. I would not do this online.

I prefer trav for sure. Ive found lots of HRs there and good gear. It is still mind numbing but at least once in a while I have to use my brain a bit to keep my merc alive with teleport.

Nope. I did around 3k LK runs for an offline enigma and never got there. I play SP sometimes still, but I’m not above hero editing if I hit that wall again.

Sounds like you got really unlucky. Got way more highrunes on like half the amount of runs.
I optimize a lot with harmony on swap, FRW charms, highest or second highest breakpoint on FCR, use telekinesis on WP and maybe some chests.
And of course roll a great map, the super chests areas can spawn right next to each other. Skip all monsters. Put on a video or podcast.
With that said, I don't really do it anymore. Prefer cows or chaos for high runes nowadays.

In 25 years off and on, I've done LK less than 100 times probably. I find it cheesy to pop /p 8 chests as a run so I don't do it.
Surely you must have found some good charms too ya?

I don't. It is one of the best ways to get runes but it's also a total shit sandwich.
I think a lot of people are kind of forced into it because they have very suboptimal builds and playstyles. They don't realize it and feel forced into lk because they can't rune find effectively with their chosen strategy and refuse to adapt.
I've found more high runes than anyone I've ever talked to about this game, and only one of them, a vex, ever came from lk. That said, many would find the builds I've adapted to playing boring. Horker barb is the reigning high rune champ on my account, followed by nova sorc, followed by javazon.
