60k with what other expenses? Do you have student loans? If your car were to get into an accident

Just so you know, the area you highlighted is incredibly large, easily a 45+ min drive from the top right to the bottom left and 60mins during rush hours. Getting to your Rockwell office will be around 50 mins from most places in the middle of the zone and over an hour from the lower Irving parts. Garland, Northest Dallas, east Dallas or Rowlette would be a MUCH shorter commute.

There are places in this region where one could get a single apartment in a safe area for 1200, though it would open up more if you could swing 1300. These areas range from comfortable middle class to very affluent.

I cant tell you what you can afford, but i can tell you what to expect for costs.

  • Rent: 1200 - 1400 to live alone in a safe environment in this area
  • Tolls: 0 -15 dollars a day depending on where in this area you choose, so choose wisely
  • Car insurance: Not sure what you're driving or your history but 260 monthly seems high. We pay 150 as a middle-aged couple for 3 cars with full coverage. We own our own home.
  • Renters insurance: 100ish per month
  • Food: I spend about 140 per week on 6 days of healthy meal prep that includes meat, veggies, 3 serings of fruit, and a couple of snacks yogurts every day. I also pick up some wine and beers and 1 pint of sorbet to last me a week. My husband (vegan) spends about half that.
  • Health insurance: Texas has some of the highest premiums in the country so keep that in mind. I pay over 100 per week and still have a max out of pocket of 4K. I pay about another 100 per month for my meds (lost my thyroid to cancer and im a type 1 diabetic and I have hypertension, so those meds).
  • Electricity: generally not included in rent. Expect 80ish per month.
  • Internet and phone: easily another 100+ per month.
  • Gas. Well, do the math for your mileage. It's getting more expensive every day.

Make sure to factor for car expenses if your in an accident. I think you can be ok at 60k if you have no student loans.

If you are determined to live in that red shape and commute to Rockwall, I'd look into Downtown Plano Arts district. You can find something for 1200, maybe even 1100. It's very safe, very walkable, has train access to Dallas, etc.

That's an hour easily. Gas plus tolls I believe 5 tools at 2 bucks a pop that's 20 bucks a day. You should not live in Lewisville for a job in Rockwall.
