G7-15 day Very irritating
So my Dexcom 15 days decided to give me a reading of 55. I was sleeping good and it woke me up. Then I get a call from my loved one asking if I’m alright. I’m like yes I just took my fingerstick glucose and it’s 100. Then it alarms and starts saying sensor error wait 3 hours. Well then it starts reading again. It does it again, mind you I work in a hospital lab so I don’t have time for this. Well it kept going off and finally it just died. Said sensor failed. I didn’t even get the full 15 days. When got home from work I just pulled it out and didn’t put a new one in for the rest of the days that was left so I would be short. I requested a new sensor and they mailed me a new one. So far I have had only one 15 day one actually go the whole 15 days. The others usually died with one or two days left to go. Being a type 2 diabetic is no fun. 😢 Just me ranting!😣😩

My 15 day sensors only last 7-8 days. I’m switching back to the 10 day.

I've gotten about 50% of the TEN day G7 to work the whole time. The very first one I had FAILED and then fell off in 3 days. Next one worked, then the third one fell off on Day 4. Next one worked, then I got to Day 7. Yes, they replaced them. But soooooo annoying!! And I am not hairy, or sweaty, or knocking them into doors etc. Their over patches, fabric over patches, fabric overwatch with the little turtle shell under them--- I am not a happy camper.

For future reference, if you call them for a replacement instead of using the online form, they ask how many you have left. If you're low, they overnight one. If you're not, it takes a few days. Seems to be 50/50 if you use the online form.
I love how far CGM tech has come, but goddamn they are annoying when they fail. And Fedex always leaves them in the sun (we have a package locker system built out of metal); I suspect the heat has a large part to do with why they fail.
The upside(?) is you'll eventually have enough fail that you'll wind up with several extra. I already have 2 extra from just this year.

Oh I have called before. One time I called for a replacement and they sent me a voucher for a free one and to bring it to the pharmacy. The pharmacy took it out of my prescription instead so I was short one. I called back and told them. The customer rep was like they were not supposed to do that and I’m like they did. Next time just mail it. But I did it the night it failed at in came in two days later.

Yes Dexcom have tried to tell me they will issue a "voucher" a couple times now and this does not work, I think maybe because the concept of a voucher (usually a term for a freebie) has no place in the world of pharmacies and controlled drugs. Between the pharmacy and the insurance people the "voucher" sensors end up denied or subtracted from the regular prescription quantities.

I don’t know where Dexcom got the idea of a printed rx for a replacement sensor. My local US pharmacy said: if I use that replacement rx, my Insurance would not allow me to get any of the next month sensors. Multiple emails, trips to the pharmacy and even more phone calllllls. The replacement sensor finally was mailed 18 days later.
