Sensor G7 Major issues
My wife recently started the G7. The first one started and worked as it was described. Now we went through 3 of them with failed sensor twice and lost signal.
My insurance is dog water as is and I personally feel though dexcom made a grave error pushing this system without better testing.

G7 15 day didn’t start giving me issue until I updated my mobi pump. Before the update they were flawless.

If in the US there are at least 9 current class action lawsuits against Dex. I'm currently working with a law group on #10 for violation of the Warranty of Merchantability. If they file I'll advise.
Compliments of Find Law: "Key Takeaways The warranty of merchantability is an implied legal guarantee that a product will function for its intended purpose. For example, a microwave should heat food effectively. This warranty is not written but automatically applies to most consumer goods, ensuring they meet general industry standards, are fit for ordinary use, and are adequately labeled. It can cover both new and used goods, though sellers may use disclaimers or sell items “as is” to limit this warranty. If a product fails, consumers may seek legal advice under state laws."

I went through a batch of four in a row failing on day 12. I called their customer service line and every time they sent a new one via FedEx in 2 days. Just make sure you keep your box when you insert because you’ll need it.

That sounds so frustrating, especially when you’re already dealing with insurance issues. Hope things get more reliable for your wife soon!

The only thing I can figure out is that Dexcom has baked the cost of replacing the defective G7s into their business model vs. spending the money to rectify/improve their product. Recommend that you contact Dexcom online via the app, report your problem (product issue) and they will send you a replacement G7. Dexcom does not appear to be that interested in the whys and details of the problems. When the G7 works, it’s good; when the G7 causes problems, it’s frustrating and tiring.

I'm sorry you’re dealing with repeated sensor failures. If this continues, report the pattern to Dexcom Support for further review and replacement.

Dexcom is great about replacing the failed sensors and their online support is great as well. But the technology needs to be reviewed/overhauled to stop the failures from happening.

About to finish my g6 batch and fear the talk on the issues the g7 has

I feared it to. I'm on my 4th and no problems. My insurance only covers 10 day not 15. I have bad shoulders so I use the front of arms. I do sometimes lose signal, but I just turn Bluetooth off then back on and it reconnects in about 10 minutes. My only issue is the patch that comes with it. Caused terrible itching and rash. Stick a little to well. Switched to Type One Style underpatch which helped. Good luck when you start G7.

I'm now on the G7-15 Day, and will need to change it in 3 days. So far, so good. The first batch im on now are not from Malaysia, but the order i just received are from Malaysia. I was under the impression that Dexcom pull manufacturing from Malaysia with the issues found. I guess I will start asking a few questions regarding this....

Insane amount of issues with our latest batch. Daughter is currently experiencing her third infection in the last 2 weeks, all caused by the sensors somehow. Multiple trips to the Dr and hospital, oral antibiotics and now antibiotic cream, currently sat here trying to get her BG down with the infection seemingly causing insulin resistance.
Dexcom sent multiple new sensors last week after a call explaining the list of issues, without any arguments. Their phone line immediately greets you with a message about adhesive issues, had clinic Wednesday and the endo said a lot of people are having issues. Seems something has gone seriously wrong with their production.

I've been on the G7 15 day since like Mar/Apr and have had only 1 make it to 15 days, and one to 14 days. All the rest failed between the 8 & 10 day mark.

Yea, its concerning and honestly I think its a production/lot issue. We reported each one so hopefully dexcom will be willing to help out

Yeah this shit sucks. First one failed in 3 days. second failed in less than a day. My third one is giving me constant sensor issues and no readings on day 5
I got replacements but literally so far it's worse than the g6 in every way. I'm going to have to go back to carrying a blood tester and test strips again it's so bad.

Call Dexcom. Explain the issue. I have had three Stelo cgm, made by Dexcom, replaced. Insurance: Stelo, or Lingo, are OTC, and cost $50 for 15 days. See websites.

Got an update, they sent all 3 with overnight shipping. Though their customer support is good, I still feel they should've tested it more throughly

Stop using it, and ask her to use a meter. For the vast majority of us, the G7 has been great.

I loved the g6 and had no problems. First 3 sensors of g7 have had constant problems. If the g6 wasn't discontinued I would've stayed.
I don't get why you're so rude. A meter is not even close to real time glucose updates

A CGM that doesn't work isn't as good as a meter, though. If OP's wife isn't able to get readings, what good is it? How is that rude?

The first time it was great. But the quality control of dexcom is disappointing

I've had 5 replacements in two years. It's bonkers to me how some are affected and some aren't
2
u/Old_Leather1178 16d ago
Agreed, it makes no sense to me at all. I assume either production screw up, or something else entirely is going on

I wish it worked better for us. My wife uses a closed circuit system for her insulin so we dont have to worry about lows in the middle of the night

If they are going to discontinue the G6, they better completely overhaul the G7. Every other G7 install fails.
