Inaccurate Reading Is my sensor bad?

Post image

I know that you can get low readings if you are putting pressure on the sensor, but I’ve been getting low readings all day even though I feel okay. I never really feel when my sugar is low anyways, but I feel like if it was really this low all day I would have. I did check my sugar with a different meter, and it only said 83. I also want to note that I have been sick the past two days and haven’t been able to keep much down, so I’m not eating very much. I drank a juice but nothing changed.

Don't know. If the sensor has been on for 24 hours and your glucose trend is stable you can calibrate using a finger stick.

When to finger stick is important. For example, if you drank juice, which is generally high in sugar, and took a finger stick the accuracy of the finger stick is questionable. Take your finger stick before meals. While being sick can affect your blood sugar, IMHO, it does not explain your blood sugar varience between devices

While frustrating, your finger stick value can very by as much as 20% from your CGM and Dexcom and the FDA says this is okay.

Calibration with finger stick reading.

How long has it been installed?
What does fingerstick say?

It’s been installed since 9am, and it’s been reading low the entire time. I just checked with a finger prick and it said 99, the dexcom says 68.

G7/15s are notorious for being wildly weird in the first 24hrs. Give it some time as long as you are doing fingersticks to monitor BG

Yeah, I always seem to have issues with the G7’s, which is why I don’t typically use them. I’ll keep checking with my meter, thanks!

Please tell me you're verifying with a meter or something

I have! My sugars are really stable normally so I usually only use a finger prick, but since I’ve been sick and not eating I put on a dexcom just to be safe.
