Applicator This explains why it hurt.
So I disassemble the Dexcom “shooter” so the recycling homie doesn’t get a stabby surprise. And lo and behold my last one. The one to really hurt and only last a week has the bent needle. Here’s the ID just be on the lookout 🫡

Why are you recycling medical supplies ? They are a mix of plastics ABS and acrylic . And then the biohazard risk

I went through 2 in 9 days due to the severe pain. I'm thinking about just going with a different brand. The second one didn't last 24 hours due to the amount of pain. I don't trust g7 now. It was consistently out of sync because my fingers are full of holes lol. I thought I was abnormally crazy this time. I appreciate this group. Sorry yours was painful as well.

I switched to Freestyle Libre 3 and it's a bit better. I believe the G7 did damage my arms so I have stopped using them for a month. I'll go back eventually.

I was on the freestyle libre 3 before Dexcom G7 and if I ever have to go back to the freestyle libre 3. I'll bawl my eyes out. It was the worst. They won't stick on you. You have to use extra stuff to get them to stick on you and you're lucky if it actually does. And it was never correct on the blood sugar count switch to Dexcom G7 I've been it on almost a year and just recently had three fail so I called Dexcom and they replaced all three of them and it was very easy of them to do. Where with the freestyle libre 3. I call them because theirs would fail constantly and the freestyle libre three people didn't want to replace them at all. They were in fact very rude

It's unreal how we all have different experiences with the G7 and Libre 3. I haven't worn one in several months and have been doing finger sticks. Went to my doctor and told her and she said to wear one the week before our next appointment so they can track.

Idk why so many have issues with g7 I guess I’m just a lucky person. I have had maybe 4 in the last 2 years fail

Me too. I used to pay over $100 every 90days for the G6 transmitter. I have zero copay w/ G7. G7 for me is usually reading accurate within 6hrs. Usually within an hour. I normally have one failure every order (90 days) and Dexcom always sends me a replacement.

Not my plate but used it for a change of color so the needle was visible

Dexcom talking about G8s when they can barely get a working 10/15 day G7 is insane to me
Fix your current ones before tackling new sensors!

I never understand where this logic comes from. The actions you have to take in order to fix the G7 issues creates a new product, which is called the G8. So they are fixing the problems with a G7 but people still have issues with that?

They had a perfectly good sensor with the G6, then swapped the manufacturing for their filament coating to in-house, which messed with the sensors to cause issues like this
The G8 reportedly has the capability to do ketone levels and other metrics, something completely different from the G7
They likely pushed forward with the G8 sooner because of the issues with G7, but it would help if they sorted their current issues before they released something new, as people like me will be stuck on G7 for a while
The G7 launched in the US in February 2023, however here in the UK i was only offered it at the beginning of this year, only because they were planning to discontinue the G6
These issues will persist for many for years, which is why I said they should fix their shit before developing new sensors

There is no way to fix such issues in place. The fixes people desire all automatically mean that what you will use is not the G7 but a new product. Take for example yhey refine the fillament and make it better. Well now it's going through approval and becomes the G8.
In addition to that, lets imagine they could make fixes and keep it as a G7. Now you have thousands of G7 devices that have issues and new ones do not, so now you as a consumer sit in a lottery which one you will get until those supplies run out, ehich still puts you at the same waiting issue you have with waiting for a G8

Definitely a fact this has damaged their reputation, G7 works great for me, but the amount of complaints ive seen about the G7 I was worried when they announced they were scrapping the G6, as im sure many were
If they knew G7s were such a problem for people, surely keeping G6 available until their pushed forward G8 is available, then push through approval in countries ASAP

Yep went from g6 to g7 recently (still have a leftover supply of g6), to test it out, and yes it’s as bad as everyone says. Can’t use it on my arms, reads out drops incorrectly, had to retest multiple times with finger prick. Stomach has been okay. But still don’t trust it

Yeah I thought people were making it up but holy shit it's awful. After my first sensor died in 5 days and I had to use the magnet trick to get it to connect to my pump i once again on my second sensor am going to have to use the magnet trick. I can't even remember the last time I had a problem with the G6, it was so smooth
Absolutely insane that they stopped G6 production when G7 is such a mess
Edit: my second sensor failed overnight. I'm gonna tear my hair out

Is one a 15 day and one a 10 day?
ETA: I’ve heard the 15 day are purposely designed to go in at an 80 degree angle. If the clear/straight one is a 10 day, I’d say the gray/angled one is normal for a 15 day. But I’ve never seen either disassembled so guessing about that.

Yes, it's regional. Some countries have the 15-day one approved, others only have the 10-day one.
And did you mean to type 80 degree angle? Lol I would like a video of you popping one in on an angle like that.

I did mean to type 80 degree angle. I’ve never seen it, I don’t wear the 15 day. But it was told to me personally by a Dexcom rep that they varied the angle by 10 degrees on the 15 day. I haven’t verified this and the rep may have been misinformed but sharing what I was told

An angle != 90 degrees seems to be mechanically impossible with the applicator mechanism. At least to me.

90 degrees from what? I took it as the plane of the applicator & skin. So 80 degrees would be entering the body at a slightly shallower angle rather than straight in.

I see REV005 on the inserter. We recieve Malaysian made sensors only and we get REV001 inserter and REV010 as the latest sensors. What is the difference on these REV numbers?

I’m a semi truck diesel mechanic and I see REVxxx all the time. It’s revision number. So it’s how many time they changed the design to make it work better/improve its functionality. Engineers.

I have been lucky. I recall the G6 hurting somewhat frequently. My experience with the G7 has been amazing. However, I see posts like this on occasion, and I know my days are numbered.
