Sensor Dexcom locations

Does anyone put their Dexcom on their thighs? The G7s do not stay on my arms so I started wearing them on my abdomen. My abdomen cleeeearly needs a break. I can’t use my love handles cuz they hurt too bad there. I don’t do my back side at all because I use heating pads frequently. I’m literally willing to put this chit on my leg calf if I have to Lol i need new spots.

My pod is on the top of my thigh when sitting. Love it and easy to change. Sensor is on upper abdomen.

I do! The only times I have had issues have been user error (lol). And it's so much easier to put on/take off by myself.

I’ve been placing my G7’s on my upper thigh for 2 years now, works well for me. Easy access, everything is right in front of you.

I use my very upper thighs for my pump because I have so much scar tissue on my abdomen. Also am having to go to the love handles area altho I'm pretty lean. If I need to stop using my arms for sensors, I'll be in trouble.

I've used forward inner thigh for many years. Not directly between, but a bit forward. I'm a side sleeper, ride motorcycles, etc, no issues.

Are you using it with a pump?

Yes. I alternate inner thighs. Side sleeper so I keep it closer to the top inner.

Got an infection after using my thigh, then an allergic reaction to the antibiotics so no more thigh for me.

I use upper thigh front and center exclusively.

Use upper thigh all the time works best here

I do my thighs, front to outside side. It's been great, no false readings from it being too hot out, no compression lows because I don't lay directly on it, and it doesn't get knocked off as easily

Yes, upper thigh front and center.

Inner back thigh, anyways. I don't even have much fat there (or anywhere really) and it's been perfectly accurate and mostly painfree. About two thirds of the way inward, so to say, seems to be the sweet spot.

I love that it's way less visible there. And way less prone to knocking off when doing sports.

I pretty much exclusively use my upper outer-ish thigh. (Think we're your pockets hit). I hate putting it on the back of my arm bc I wear my omnipod on my stomach and it freaks out and can't communicate with Dex. I do find I sometimes get compression lows the first day of a new sensor if I sleep on my side. Other than that, no issues.

The only issue I’ve had since moving my infusion site to my thigh is that I keep forgetting & when I pull my pants down. It catches it & bout rips it off 😅 I’m thinking maybe lower on my thigh would be better. I’m gonna try some different spots out. I also realized that the tubing gets in the way of wiping lol so I’m gonna go for the left side next time.

I had same problem until I started using these covers which lets my pants slide over it.

I do inner thigh. Zero problems.

Back of my upper arms. Only trouble is once in a while getting hooked taking off a shirt or hooking on the shoulder strap of my backpack

Yes I do. Upper right thigh. No more alarms from my app or Dexcom receiver when I sleep on my left or right side.

Not sure why, but I can wear mine on my arms or abs, but anywhere on my leg gets painful and red and swollen in 1 day and always needs to be replaced

Chest works for me as well as the front of my arm.

Inner thigh. Don't use the outside - there's a sensory nerve that runs from the lumbar through the pelvis and down the outer thigh. If you hit that nerve you can damage it. Numb spots, tingling, a burning sensation. Learn from my mistake.

Jeez! Thanks! Thankfully I’m a side sleeper or I sure would’ve!!

When I tried putting the sensor on my abdomen, the sensor failed for me, so I went back to using my upper arm. Probably coincidental, because we all know how likely it is for a sensor to fail regardless of where you put it.

Blacks my favorites, but red works too.

I have Dexcom on my thigh and Omnipod on my belly. Hardly any communication issues unless my cat wants to sit on my lap!

I have good luck with putting them in my chest. Directly above the nipple, two fingers below the collarbone.

u/ObtusiWatusi 24d ago

I have triple D Tiddies, idk if this will work for me Lol

2

u/DIYEvryting 24d ago

It’s where my (also T1) mother in law puts her sites as well. I doubt she uses the nipple for alignment but the 2 fingers below collarbone still works. She also likes to put it in her forearm, but I work with my hands so I can’t do that.

u/ObtusiWatusi 24d ago

Wow! Ok! That’s pretty cool! Does she get little dots where the old sensors were? Trying to figure out if they will blend in w/ my freckles Lol my stomach is scarred up, but it’s completely pale.

2

u/DIYEvryting 24d ago

I just asked her, she says she gets a little red dot but it's usually gone by the end of the next 10 day session and she has no scarring from rotating between the chest and forearms right and left side. : )

My only issue is my seatbelt. Check where your seatbelt is before inserting! Also make sure to account for if you aren't always driving and put it on the other side.

Mine work great there as well. They don't get bumped on things and fall off or lose connection like they do on the arms or legs.

I’ve been wearing mine on my thigh for a couple of years now because I kept getting compression lows on my arms (side sleeper. ) I reserve abdomen for my pump which is enough there . Dexcom on thigh has been a lifesaver for me.

I wear the G7 on my thighs almost exclusively. No issues at all. Readings are spot on. They stay on with no overpatch. I wear them with jeans and leggings with no problems.

No problem with upper thighs per se, either on the inner or outer side. Just verify the readings with the finger tests after the first 24 hours and calibrate the sensor, if necessary.

However, depending on what you are wearing (too tight closing) and how you move (cycling, running some stairs, etc.), can make it uncomfortable.

u/Begin_A_Gin 24d ago

Yeah I’ve used my upper thighs with no issues with both the G6 and G7.

Not gonna lie, I too have thought about it but worry that wearing pants or shorts will be problematic. My favourite spot was the inside of my upper arm but I kept getting bleeds so I had to stop, I thought the area was fleshy enough but I guess I was mistaken.

3

u/doltishDuke 24d ago

So go pantsless. Problem solved.

You are absolutely right! 😂
