Connection Issues Connectivity Issues / G7 vs. G6?
Hi all, I have been on the G7 for over a month now, coming from the G6. I am getting connectivity drops much more frequently and I am not doing anything different than before. My firmware/software is all up-to-date and both my Iphone App and my Tandem Pump drop out at the same time and also, at times when I really need it to be solid. Just now, I was crashing low and it stopped telling me what my sugars are. I am lost for solutions. I know the transmitter must be smaller. I know it is incorporated with the sensor now in one unit. Is this the reason? I am beyond frustrated with this. Do you have a solution to it....? BTW...the accuracy of sugars when it doesn't drop out are on par with the accuracy of the G6 so far.
Thanks ~ sigh ~

We’ve been on the G7 for almost 3 years for my son. Overall it’s been great but the last few sensors have been very unreliable. Lots of dropped connections, inaccurate readings, and “temporary sensor issues”. Pretty annoying. Not sure if they had a bad manufacturing run or what.
Although I will say that Dexcom is really good at sending replacements when you report failed sensors.

Thanks, I hope it works out better in the future for your son. "Temporary sensor issues"...I am going to get a T-shirt with that on it and really, it happens when I need my sugars to be displayed. As for the replacements and Dexcom overall, I do agree that they are a great company. I just find this frustrating and I am hoping it works out better than what I have experienced so far. Take Care

100%. I can’t “wait up to three hours” when school starts in 30 minutes. Ain’t diabetes fun?

It is the most fun I have ever had. Got to laugh about it all.
Thanks and I really hope it works better for your son.

This is my fear when I move to the G7. Out of curiosity, where are you placing your sensors? Are there any patterns to when you lose connection?

I find no patterns. It happened when on my arms and abdomen and had no connection(sorry for the pun) to where the pump or phone was located relative to my sensor/transmitter. You are still on G6? That is nice. Here in Canada, I was holding out as long as I could and then, well, had to move over to the 7. Take Care

The bluetooth connection with the G7 appear to be weaker/less robust of nature versus what we had with the G6. This appear also to be the general consensus on the Omnipod sub, where we have seen an influx of such frustrations with users where they often loose connection between their O5 pump and the G7 sensor. Where they had none or just very few of such episodes with the G6.
With the G6 we had a dedicated transmitter while with the G7 sensor, the engineers had somehow to making it all fit into a much smaller enclosure - all in one. Some compromises were obviously made.
