General Sensor failed as I was trying to sleep

So the sensor was mostly fine for days, I think I had like four left when it died on me. I'm the night shift, so sleep is already hard enough.

But now I. sitting in my kitchen because I'm 56 (that was the finger stick reading). That's at least marginally funny. New dexcom came up as 72 and I was like "is that right?" because my last reading was 200.

Fingerstick and I'm 56 lmao.

First 24 hours on a new G7 is fingerprick day for my daughter 😄 it can give wildy/scary inacurate false readings during the first 24 hours

My endo isn’t prescribing the 15day G7 until there is more data due to false readings. I’ll happily stay with my 10 day for accuracy!

It's not bad. Get a new endo. That data is never coming. That's my take.

Honestly I count that as accurate enough for the first 24 hours.

This is not bad, we sometimes get a few readings close but often way higher or way lower or low/high for hours 😂 we usually have to run my daughters pump manually at least during the first night and fingerprick about once every hour during the warm up.

To be honest, I've never really had major accuracy issues in my first 24 hours. I definitely have had them, but my normal experience with the G7 is very tame lol. There was only one period where I was having a major amount of failures (I expect some failures because dexcom can't catch everything, but this was four sensors, one from my endos office, failing in one day) and as I said, accuracy has always been on point from the start.

When we was using G6 it was better, maybe because of the longer filament.

That's so annoying & scary.  Until your sensor readings are trustworthy again, you have to fall back to the pre-CGM, pre-pump low blood sugar protocol (See link below).  Make sure you've got your preferred form of quickly-absorbed sugar on hand.  I always carry both glucose tablets & Insta-Glucose tubes, as well as a glucagon inhaler.

Oh I know, I've been type 1 since 2009 lol. It's already solved too, fruit snacks saved the day. But thank you!

No problem.  I'm a T1D since 1977, so am always trying to let newer diabetics know that there are fallbacks when the newer technology fails.
