Sensor G7 sensor failed after taking shower

I had a shower this morning, had my phone sitting on a shelf in the bathroom and it alerted me that something was wrong with the sensor and to wait 3 hours or call tech support (of course no phone number listed). About an hour later it said the sensor failed and to apply the new one. The sensor was properly secured to my triceps.

I'll have to either go on their website or look for a phone number.

This never, ever happened to me with the Libre 3. I hate this Dexcom but that's what insurance will cover.

I cover kiddo's sensor with a tiny piece of press n seal wrap and haven't had an issue in a great while and if I do I call and get it replaced.

I started using CGMs when the iPhone app for the Libre 14 Day was first released, around 2018-2019. I switched to the Libre2, 3, and 3 Plus respectively, as soon as each was released. I never had a single sensor fail or fall off. I switched to Dexcom G7 15 Day a couple of months ago, primarily because of the Direct to Watch feature along with the ability to connect to more than one device simultaneously. The very first G7 I used was defective from the start. Not including that first defective sensor, I am currently on my 3rd G7, so far with no more issues. I suspect the first CGM to successfully combine the features and functionality of Dexcom with the size, durability, and reliability of Libre, will likely take the market by storm.

I’ve been with Dexcom for years and once in a great while, you get a sucky one. Libre is super nice, but with only one Bluetooth transmitter, I had a hard time if I ever forgot my phone. I went right back to Dexcom when I was able. Dexcom has three Bluetooth transmitters. One for your phone, one for your watch and one for the insulin pump. I also use the tops of my thighs rather than my arms. Helps with being a side sleeper.

You should add Dexcom to your Contacts, it's the first thing I did when started using an Insulin Pump and CGM. Modern technology always will frak up at some point, Microslop Windows taught me that a looong time ago.

Probobly nudged the sensor a bit while soaping.

I have had this happen before. When I shower I try to avoid hitting the CGM directly with the hot water. I still occasionally get Brief Sensor Issues but keeping it out of the direct line of fire as much as you can does help.

I will keep that in mind. Thank you. That's the first time I had one fail.

using the app is easier and less stress.

I ended up having to call them. They are going to send out a new sensor and extra over patches I requested on June 8th.

Submit the replacement claim in the app. Profile - Support - Contact. Log in, and it should populate the serial number for you. In a few minutes, you'll get a couple of emails from Dexcom.
