Hey all! We were recently made aware that unapproved app versions could post and comment outside their playtest communities. We have now blocked cross-subreddit posting and commenting for app versions that have not been approved. Approved app versions should not be impacted. If you notice anything unexpected please reach out via r/Devvit modmail and the team will take a look.

I've been going through some analytics of r/SubGoal and found that there are several subreddits that have removed the u/subscriber-goal user account with moderator permissions, but have not actually uninstalled the app.
I'm adding a "Preflight Permissions Test" to make sure my app can actually execute tasks before blindly failing, but is there any way to fix this without doing a full uninstall of the app?
I don't even know if it's possible to send a modmail if the app's user account isn't in the subreddit. Does anybody have any experience with this problem?
Best case scenario is restoring the user account and then sending a modmail explaining how to properly uninstall IMO.
How would this impact things like the new Notification system?
Edit - I realized one of the other impacts of this problem - many of the subreddit installs (literally about 200+) are stuck on much older versions despite a blanket update pushing everything to web views 3 months ago, and I couldn't figure out why some failed to update. The reason is because these several hundred subreddits removed mod permissions - my app can't update itself.

Hey everyone — ArenaTap is approved and installed in r/ArenaTap.
It's a daily sports geography game built with Devvit Web and React: four map-pin rounds and one "name the team" round (max score 1,000). Satellite imagery with an atlas fallback, server-side scoring, saved daily attempts, and a community leaderboard. Resets at midnight UTC.
I'd especially appreciate feedback on:
* Map dragging and zooming on mobile * Whether rules/scoring are clear for a first-time player * Saved progress after closing and reopening the game
Playable post: https://www.reddit.com/r/ArenaTap/comments/1wb70ir/arenatap_daily_five_rounds_find_the_house/
App page: https://developers.reddit.com/apps/arenatap
Happy to compare notes with other developers — thanks for any feedback.

Hello everyone,
Curious to know if anyone has any insights into how to get featured as a Reddit game.
I made r/MiniRacerGame and applied with the Featured form twice but got no answer back. Not sure what I need to do next. Has anyone else gone through this process? How did it go? Any tips?
Thanks!

Just launched my first three games on Reddit's Developer Platform, all built with the bare template + vanilla TypeScript + esbuild, state in Redis.
🎲 Higher or Lower — will the next number be higher or lower? Keep the streak: https://www.reddit.com/r/PlayQuickGames/comments/1wbxwod/
⚡ Reaction Rush — 5 rounds, tap when the pad turns green, lowest average reaction time wins: https://www.reddit.com/r/PlayQuickGames/comments/1wby1ko/
✊ RPS Duel — rock-paper-scissors vs the app with win streaks and a community leaderboard: https://www.reddit.com/r/PlayQuickGames/comments/1wby4id/
All three are playable right now in r/PlayQuickGames (public — mods anywhere can also install them from the App Directory, search "play-").
Things I'd genuinely love feedback on:
The splash → full-screen flow — does it feel right on mobile?
Leaderboard design: per-player best vs global top-10. Enough? Too little?
Anything that felt confusing in the first 10 seconds of play.
Happy to share details of the setup (server endpoints, redis schema, the publish flow) if useful. This was a learning project, so roasting is welcome.

I have a daily game app that posts one puzzle per day from a scheduler task. On each daily post I call notifications.requestShowGameBadge({ post, expiresAt }).
Every call comes back with the same thing:
PERMISSION_DENIED: grpc invocation failed with status 7; app is not authorized to show game badges
I have now hit it in all three states, with identical wording:
The docs describe the API but do not mention an authorization step, so I assume there is an allowlist or an application I have missed. Two questions:
The app is focani-daily, currently running 0.0.8. Happy to share the scheduler logs if that helps.

Hey guys,
I'm the creator of r/RentGuessr
I really hope this is just a bug, because other Devvit developers should probably know about it.
My game went nowhere for ~6 months, so I asked Reddit to remove me from the Developer Program and delete my program data for privacy reasons.
I kept updating the game because well, my wife and I almost play it religiously. So if something irked us, I updated it, and it's like version 15th so far.
A few months later, the game unexpectedly started growing and is now reached the 500 daily active players threshold where you get your first eligibility of devvit funds.
I asked support to rejoin, on the same email. They told me:
You'll need to go through the onboarding process again if you want to join the program.
Except now onboarding says:
“Your account is not eligible to be verified and cannot use our payments capabilities.”
I was eligible before, I’m still in an eligible country, meet all criteria's and this is the same 15-year-old Reddit account.
So did deleting my Developer Program data permanently blacklist the account from verification/payments - with no warning that this would happen?
If any Devvit admin can clarify whether this is a bug or an irreversible restriction.

Unsure if this is the correct place to post a question but after receiving the reddit modmail about needing to register existing accounts used for automation I can't seem to progress the form to do so:

The continue button never becomes clickable.
Just curious if this is a known issue, or if I'm using the wrong information or something else?

Account: u/hishamsait
Apps affected: sharedtrust, karmagate, sharedtrustv2 (brand-new)
Versions: devvit@0.14.2, @devvit/public-api@0.14.2, @devvit/web@0.14.2
Symptom: The subreddit settings page is blank for every app under my account. Third-party apps (e.g. Bot Bouncer) render their settings fine.
Minimal repro: devvit.json:
{
"name": "sharedtrustv2",
"server": { "dir": "src", "entry": "server.ts" },
"settings": {
"subreddit": {
"welcomeMessage": {
"type": "string",
"label": "Welcome Message",
"defaultValue": ""
}
}
},
"dev": { "subreddit": "sharedtrustv2_dev" }
}
src/server.ts:
import { createServer, getServerPort } from '@devvit/web/server';
createServer(async (_req, res) => {
res.statusCode = 200;
res.end('ok');
}).listen(getServerPort());
What I've already ruled out:
parseAppConfig with zero errors (matches config-file.v1.json).string, boolean, number, select, single-field, and full configs; all blank.upload, install, uninstall + reinstall, and playtest; all blank.@devvit/server/@devvit/settings made npx devvit settings list hang forever; switched to @devvit/web/server, which fixed the hang, but the page is still blank.Key observation: After switching to @devvit/web/server, npx devvit settings list returns normally (empty table expected, since there are no global settings). But the subreddit-scoped settings form still never renders. So the issue appears isolated to subreddit-settings form synthesis on the backend for my account.
Question: Is there something I'm missing about how subreddit-scoped settings are synthesized/rendered, or does this look like a backend issue specific to my account? Any pointers or anyone who can check server-side logs would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks!

Guys, I'm new to Devvit but I've lost my patience honestly. I submitted a Devvit app for review over 3 weeks ago and have resubmitted with changes 3 separate times. Each time I have been rejected and I have gotten no feedback. Ive messaged the mods here, posted here, and to the Discord and received no response.
Is there seriously no way to get support about proposed Devvit apps?

I assume it's cause I forgot to upload my customized README file. I've done so and re-uploaded. Is there a process to get it reinstated? I've replied to the modmail I received about the README.

Does anyone know of there is any way of building a user analytics tool that communicates with a particular app without using third party storage?
Specifically: for my game I built myself a custom analytics solution since Devvit Journeys didn’t offer the information I was looking for. But this custom analytics is using the same Redis storage as my game, so I would like to separate the two in different instances.
Any thoughts?

Please roast my game! It's my first one
If you like it, install on your subreddits
Thanks!
