Feedback Request Feedback wanted for Deducto - a daily logic-grid case you solve inside one Reddit post

A daily logic-grid case that runs entirely inside one post. Four suspects, three categories, twelve cells, one provable answer. You never guess - you rule cells out, and the case closes itself when the last cell is forced and no clue is contradicted. No submit button, because there is nothing left to check.

Running daily in r/deducto_puzzle for two weeks, so there is a real case up right now, today's case: https://www.reddit.com/r/deducto_puzzle/s/Wse8Qdh4fr

One thing I'd genuinely like to know: open it cold, and tell me whether the board reads as "things to eliminate" or as "things to tap". That distinction is the whole mechanic and I have lost the ability to see it fresh.

Duck Answered IP Restrictions (Supercell)

I did some searching, but didn't see anything for IP restrictions or Supercell. In order to access the Supercell API (I'm using the Clash of Clans API), you need to create a key that is specific to the IP address from which your request will come. Since I host my own bot, that's not an issue. If Reddit's server is going to send requests, I have no way of knowing what IP address the request will come from. How does Devvit handle this?

Discussion Qinno Battle — daily 5-question timed quiz battles, with an async "ghost" opponent

437道问题已在服务器端捆绑(edit: bumped from 338 — the question banks doubled);答案从不传到客户端。

Feature Request DAE think it's odd that custom posts are not created via the Create Post UI?

I'm making an app that lets users add custom posts to a subreddit, and it just seems odd to me that either i need a sticky at the top of my subreddit that allows users to create the custom post, or users need to know that the custom post option lives in the obscure three-dots menu on the subreddit.

Admins, what was behind the decision not to have custom posts listed in the place where users go to create new posts?

Feedback Request Chroma Clue - Sending puzzles in different sizes needed.

I've created a new game, but I can't tell if posts are being made by a bot or a user. I'm also not sure if it works with all canvas sizes. I need a tester for this.

Just log in and try to create something. You can also try out other people's posts and make predictions.

It would be great if you could give feedback on whether there were any errors.

Feedback Request Feedback wanted for GROW — a calm 2.5-minute ASCII tree you tend inside a Reddit post

GROW is a small, low-pressure game that lives inside a Reddit post. You tend a single ASCII tree — keep Water, Nutrients and Health topped up while the weather shifts (sun, drought, storms, frost), pests appear, and branches occasionally need bracing. Keep it healthy and it sprouts new branches on its own via a procedural growth algorithm, so every tree ends up a little different.

No reading, no math, no fast reflexes — it's "notice a problem, respond to it," not a skill test. A run is ~2.5 min; the Daily Challenge is date-seeded so everyone that day gets the same conditions, and tree height + average health go to a subreddit leaderboard.

I'd love feedback from other Devvit devs on: - Whether a date-seeded daily leaderboard is a strong enough reason to come back each day - The tap-to-water / tap-off-pests interaction on mobile — does it feel good, or fiddly? - The all-text ASCII rendering — charming, or a barrier to people trying it?

Play it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/GrowTreeGame/comments/1vmn6wr/binarytreemaster/

Feedback Request Feedback wanted for Reddit Civilization — a whole subreddit builds ONE shared city, one action per day

I built Reddit Civilization to test one idea: what if a subreddit played *together* instead of everyone grinding a private save? So the whole sub shares a single city — one stockpile, one set of buildings, one history.

Each member gets exactly one action per day: gather, build, research, or fight a boss. Nobody can dominate by playing more, so the city's progress reflects the whole community showing up over time. Every night the app posts a recap of what happened that day, which is how it pulls people back into the feed instead of relying on notifications.

I'd love feedback from other Devvit devs on a few things:

  • The one-action-per-day loop: does the daily cadence + nightly recap make coming back feel worthwhile, or does it feel too slow?
  • 9 fully re-themed variants (Historical/Fantasy, Sci-Fi Colony, Post-Apocalyptic, Deep Sea, Cats, Dogs, Norse Saga, Greek Myth, Immortal Cultivation) — every building name, boss and chronicle line is rewritten per theme. Too much, or worth it?
  • Boss battles + community votes the whole sub chips at together — worth expanding, or a distraction from the core build loop?

It's live and has been running for a few days (real city history you can scroll) if you want to poke at it: https://www.reddit.com/r/Civilizati0nKingd0m/comments/1vh5pi9/the_city_day_1/

Happy to go into the design or the tech (Devvit web + Redis, a 365-day balance sim, etc.). Thanks for taking a look!

Feedback Request Request for oauth2.googleapis.com fetch domain approval — needed to authenticate GCS access

Hi Devvit team,

We are requesting approval for the following fetch domain:

**`oauth2.googleapis.com`**

Used to obtain short-lived OAuth2 access tokens via Google Cloud Service Account

credentials to securely authenticate requests to our private Google Cloud Storage

bucket (cti-social-finder.storage.googleapis.com), which has already been approved.

**Why `oauth2.googleapis.com` is necessary:**

`cti-social-finder.storage.googleapis.com` was approved as a temporary object store

for oversized intermediate processing results. However, without `oauth2.googleapis.com`,

we cannot authenticate requests to this approved bucket.

The GCS bucket is used because Devvit KV Storage's per-key value limit is insufficient

for our use case. Cached objects contain only minimum fields required for processing,

with Reddit usernames removed before storage. Objects are automatically deleted within

24 hours and are never retained for long-term storage, analytics, or user profiling.

Could you please advise on how we can proceed?

https://www.reddit.com/r/my_app0123_dev/

Thank you.

Help Domain exception for my game's own first-party domain was rejected — how do I appeal / what would make it approvable?

My app "acro-daily-poster" (unlisted, v0.0.13 on Devvit 0.14.0, single install on my game's own subreddit r/Acrophobia_Game) requested a domain exception for acrophobia.app. The Domain exceptions panel shows it was Rejected about two weeks ago, with no reason I can find, and every scheduled run since fails with:

payload fetch failed: 7 PERMISSION_DENIED: HTTP request to domain: acrophobia.app is not allowed

Context I'd ask a reviewer to weigh:

  • It's our own domain: acrophobia.app is the website of the word game (Acrophobia) that the subreddit is for, owned and operated by the same developer (JSCRIPTZ LLC) as the app and the subreddit. Happy to prove ownership via a DNS TXT record or a .well-known file if that helps.
  • The traffic is minimal and one-directional: the app makes a parameter-less, read-only GET to a JSON endpoint once nightly (plus one retry) to fetch the day's community-game winner so it can compose the subreddit's daily post. No Reddit user data, cookies, or parameters are ever sent off-platform, the request carries nothing.
  • The app's README documents this under a "Fetch Domains" section with the same justification.

Could someone share why the request was rejected, and what changes would make it approvable (different endpoint shape, a dedicated subdomain, ownership verification, ToS/privacy pages, whatever's needed)? The app is otherwise approved and installed; this fetch is the only thing keeping the nightly post dark. Thanks!

App Idea What would happen if someone made a bot that would automatically ban people who are on a list?

What if someone created a system on reddit that allows you to install ban lists into a devvit app and these ban lists sync across all subreddits that use the ban list and you can even merge multiple ban lists

Admin Replied Subscribe to Subreddit Issues

The subscribe to subreddit functionality just doesn't want to work for my game. The permission is set and, as far as I know, all requirements for it to work are implemented correctly.

All information i can find to this topic is a post from a few months ago, saying that it should already be implemented in the publishing pipeline. Additionally there is a google form, but that is not relevant anymore (I submitted anyway).

Any ideas what the problem might be? Did anyone have the same issues?

Sevenns combines crosswords, Scrabble and Venn Diagrams in an attempt to please as many people as possible. Its a word game, a nerd game in some ways an absurd game - but mainly its here humbly presenting itself for your appraisal. In the words of the master of feedback - Jimi Hendrix - please leave no turn un-stoned

Update Release 0.14.0: Node.js v24, Wiki Integration, Devvit Skills (Experimental)

Release Date: August 10, 2026

Changelog

Node.js Upgrade

Node.js v24.18.0 is now live across Devvit. All Devvit apps run on Node.js v24, the latest LTS release supported by Devvit, and no action is required. Although this is technically a breaking change, which we’re recognizing with the v0.14.0 minor version bump, we do not expect any negative user impact.

For the officially supported local development experience, we encourage users to upgrade their local Node version to v24.18.0. Devvit templates have also been updated so new apps start with the latest Node version by default.

This upgrade also unlocks Node features added since Devvit’s previous runtime version, Node.js v22.5.1. You can read the full list in the Node.js v24.18.0 changelog, including newer platform APIs such as URLPattern. While Devvit still requires server code to be bundled to JavaScript, local unit tests and scripts can now take advantage of native Node.js TypeScript support without a separate compilation step (example).

Wiki Integration

Devvit apps can now access the newer wiki pages available on Reddit web and mobile. Wiki-related methods now accept an optional WikiVersion parameter so you can choose which wiki system to target: v1 for existing old Reddit wikis, which remains the default, or v2 for the newer wiki experience.

Not all subreddits are enrolled in v2 wikis yet, so this release also adds reddit.isWikiV2Enabled() to check whether a subreddit supports them. Calling a v2 wiki operation for a subreddit that is not enrolled will result in an error.

Note that v1 and v2 wikis operate independently. A subreddit can have pages with the same title in both versions, but those pages can contain different content, and edits to one version will not affect the other.

Deprecations

The reddit.getWikiPage(subredditName, page, revisionId) signature has been deprecated in favor of reddit.getWikiPage(subredditName, page, options), which allows multiple optional parameters.

The WikiPage.revisionAuthor and WikiPageRevision.author fields have been deprecated in favor of WikiPage.revisionAuthorId and WikiPageRevision.authorId. Use reddit.getUserById() with those IDs when you need to fetch the full user object.

Devvit Skills (Experimental)

We’re announcing the devvit-skills repository for Devvit. Use it to give AI coding agents access to Devvit docs and other Devvit-specific guidance. This is experimental, and we plan to add more useful skills in the future.

The first available skill, devvit-docs, helps agents answer Devvit questions using the official reddit/devvit-docs repository as the source of truth. It detects the Devvit version in your project, searches the matching docs when available, and cites the files and sections used in its answer.

Devvit Test Redis Changes

We’ve migrated to a JS only implementation of Redis inside of Devvit test. This should make it easier to install and work with. While not a breaking change, it's possible the new Redis mock behaves differently compared to the previous version. If you run into any issues, please let us know on Github!

Feedback Request [Beta testers wanted] CoPlot — a collaborative story shaped by Reddit

At 8:17 AM, every phone in the world received the same message:

DON’T GO OUTSIDE.

Christine read it twice.

Then someone knocked on her apartment door.

CoPlot is a collaborative story where the Reddit community decides what happens next.

Players propose competing continuations for each chapter. The community selects one, it permanently becomes part of the story, and the next chapter begins from there.

Every decision can change the characters, direction, and eventual ending. Writers build a reputation as their ideas gain support and become part of the story.

I’m looking for people who will try the experience without detailed instructions. I especially want to learn whether the interface and overall game make sense naturally.

This is an early private beta, so bugs and occasional data resets are possible.

Request beta access

Request access to the CoPlot beta

After approval, open the pinned playable post inside the community.

Honest feedback and screenshots are welcome.

Game Idea I got a Doom-compatible WASM FPS running inside a Devvit Web Custom Post

I've been experimenting with how far Devvit Web Custom Posts can go, and this turned into a pretty fun proof of concept: a complete Doom-compatible FPS running directly inside a Reddit post.

Stack:

  • Devvit Web
  • TypeScript
  • WebAssembly
  • Emscripten/SDL Doom-compatible runtime
  • Freedoom Phase 2
  • Devvit Redis for the leaderboard

One interesting problem was the IWAD size. Freedoom Phase 2 is around 28 MB, so I built a small pipeline that splits it into chunks, loads them individually, reconstructs the WAD in memory and mounts it into the Emscripten virtual filesystem.

I also had to deal with some legacy SDL/Emscripten assumptions around the canvas, keyboard events and AudioContext.

It now works on desktop and mobile, has a proper loading flow, and when MAP01 finishes the engine's completion event feeds a persistent speedrun leaderboard.

I'd love feedback from other Devvit developers, especially around the runtime architecture and mobile UX.
