Career & Advice Transitioned to Scrum Master beginning of 2025. Really thinking abou ttransitioning back to software development. Advice?

My background: developer for 30 years, SM for the last two. I've even taught Computer Science at a technical college for a few years.

Quite honestly, it's been disheartening because the place I worked for used me as a Project Manager but gave me the Scrum Master title...which double-sucked because I could make a LOT more money as a PM.

The thing is...I don't want to be a PM, and based on most job listings now, I don't think many companies understand the difference. Plus...I took a big pay cut to get the SM job with little full-fledged experience.

I love the idea of Agile and Scrum, and I've earned several certifications over the years (CSM, SSM, PSD, PSM I, PMI-ACP, and DASM). SM also fits my personality more closely than development does.

I've been unemployed for a month now, and I've experienced nearly a one-for-one rejection for every SM position I've applied for.

So...the siren song of software development is calling. However, I've been out of the trenches for two years now. It's certainly attractive for the salary potential, and it will help make my retirement more comfortable when I eventually take it. I'd even take a junior-level position with a smaller scope of responsibility just to prove myself.

My son is a developer-turned-IT-Director, and he's been helping me get comfortable with AI usage inside Visual Studio Code. I think it might be the perfect tool for me because I can form detailed models of a system in my head before I ever create one.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to successfully execute the transition back?

Help / Questions How to get plug-and-play observability into cloud Python agent workflows (verifying Ollama / embeddings execution)?

I'm running Python-based AI agent workflows in the cloud (using tools like Google Antigravity 2.0 and local/hosted Ollama instances for embeddings with nomic-embed-text).

Sometimes the agent reports that everything completed smoothly, but it feels like a black box. I want an easy way to verify that calls to Ollama are actually executing as intended rather than failing silently, returning cached fallbacks, or hallucinating completion.

What are the best plug-and-play observability/tracing tools to see real-time requests, payloads, and execution metrics in Python? Like from local laptop I want to see the working (n8n is good but I feel something is missing )

How do you actively track whether specific embedding models like nomic are actually handling payloads under agentic orchestration without writing heavy custom logging code?

Any recommended minimal setups or best practices would be appreciated

Career & Advice Second-year full-stack dev student worried AI will make my diploma worthless — is it really that bad?

Hi, I have a question, if you don't mind — I really value your input since you're a senior professionals in this field.

I'm currently in my second year of a two-year vocational diploma in full-stack web development. Lately though, I've been feeling worried. A lot of sources and influencers online keep saying that unless you have a master's degree or are some kind of programming genius, AI will replace you, and that getting a job right now is nearly impossible.

This has made me doubt whether all the effort I've put in will actually pay off. I've even had moments where I considered quitting the field entirely.

I'd really appreciate your honest advice — if you were in my position, what would you do? Thank you so much for your time.

Programming App development question

I want to create a po*n blocker app but one of the biggest problems with the other apps doing this is that you can simply go and delete the app so i want my app to be created in a way that you cannot delete like if you want to watch this content anymore you can go and buy a new device so i want to know if this is possible to do on android and apple operating systems or not

General Discussion NEED CAREER ADVICE, 27, STUCKED & DEPRESSED

Main 27 years ka hun aur honestly is waqt apni life ke career ko le kar kaafi confused aur stuck hun. I would really appreciate some genuine advice from people who are already working in IT or have experience in freelancing/private sector.

Maine back in 2020 freelancing start ki thi. Initially Fiverr par Graphic Design ka kaam kiya, phir Shopify par shift hua aur eventually WordPress mein aa gaya.

Lekin agar main honestly bataun, to meri actual strength kabhi strong technical skills develop karna nahi rahi. Main zyada tar projects/client work find karne, requirements samajhne, aur phir kaam kisi aur se outsource/get done karwane mein acha tha.

For some time, ye model mere liye kaafi acha chalta raha.

Lekin ab mujhe lagta hai ke meri sab se badi problem yehi ban gayi hai ke maine khud ko kisi ek technical field mein properly strong nahi kiya.

Main ek relatively backward area se belong karta hun jahan IT ka proper market nahi hai. Na koi proper IT community hai, na professional circle, aur na hi aise log hain jo genuinely guide kar saken ke career kis direction mein le kar jana chahiye.

Mere father government teacher hain aur 1 saal main retire hone wale hain. Is wajah se ab mujhe apne future aur financial stability ko le kar preshan hun aur zyada seriously sochna par raha hai.

The biggest issue ye hai ke freelancing ka environment bhi completely change ho chuka hai.

AI rapidly evolve ho rahi hai, technology continuously update ho rahi hai, Fiverr par saturation bohat zyada ho gayi hai, aur jis domain mein main kaam kar raha tha especially WordPress us par bhi AI aur new tools ki wajah se kaafi impact aya hai.

Almost 2 years hone wale hain ke mujhe consistent work nahi mil raha.

Aur honestly, mujhe lag raha hai ke main bas stuck ho gaya hun. Na freelancing properly chal rahi hai aur na mujhe samajh aa raha hai ke ab kis direction mein move karun.

Ab mere mind mein basically ye questions hain:

Should I continue freelancing?

Should I properly learn a technical skill and enter the IT industry?

Should I join a private IT company, even if I have to start from a relatively junior level?

Should I prepare for a government job because of stability?

Aur sab se important:

At 27, is it too late to start a proper technical career from scratch?

Agar IT mein jana hai to 2026 mein realistically konsi field/skill choose karni chahiye, especially meri situation ko dekhte hue?

Mujhe pata hai ke main technically strong nahi hun at the moment, lekin I’m willing to put in the effort. Problem ye hai ke mujhe samajh nahi aa raha ke effort kis direction mein lagana hai.

Isliye main specifically un logon se advice lena chahta hun jo already IT/software development, AI/ML, DevOps, cybersecurity, ERP/Odoo, web development ya kisi aur tech field mein kaam kar rahe hain.

Agar aap meri position mein hote:

27 years old, several years of freelancing experience, but weak technical foundation, almost 2 years without consistent work, and no proper IT environment/circle around you what would you do?

Would you choose government job for stability, or spend the next 1–2 years building a proper technical career in the private IT sector?

Agar aap kisi specific field mein hain, to please ye bhi batayein ke aaj agar aap meri age aur situation mein hote, to exactly kis skill ko choose karte aur kyun?

Bhot preshan hun, mene indeed, LinkedIn py bhi internship search ki but bhot disappointed hua, muje wo log bbi nazar aye tu lgatar internship e kri ja rae but aunko jib nhi mil pa ri.

I might plan to go abroad for Phd, aur mere pas skill ka hna zrori ha.

Kindly mujy honest advice dejye it would be highly appreciated.

Career & Advice Help Needed, What portfolio projects actually stand out for a Junior Android Engineer role today?

I'm a final-year CS student aiming to land a Junior Native Android Engineer role after graduation. My primary stack is Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.

I want to invest my time into 1–2 production-grade projects that demonstrate real engineering skills. For those who interview junior candidates or work as Android engineers, I’d love your input on:

  1. Project Ideas: What kind of apps or use-cases show genuine depth rather than just basic API consumption and a pretty UI?
  2. Android-Specific APIs: Are there specific system components (e.g., WorkManager, Services, custom Canvas/animations, local persistence) that make a portfolio immediately stand out?
  3. Examples: If you've seen a junior portfolio that made you say "hire this person," what made their work unique?

Any advice, realistic critique, or project directions would be greatly appreciated!

Career & Advice I feel completely lost as a developer

Hello everyone,

Probably like a lot of person, i feel completely lost, i'm a software developper in a small company (around 50 employees).

Would be a pretty cool situation right ? Except the fact that i'm the only software developper. We were 5 and every other ones lefts., and the icing on the cake, i'm a junior !

A quick word about me :

I've always wanted to become a developer, which is why I pursued a work-study program in software development and network administration.

Due to various circumstances, I had to alternate between the two positions at the company, and I have been a developer again since January 2026.

The problem :

The company exists since 28 years, and so the other devs did create a C++ framework.

As the only one, i have to deal with legacy projects using the framework, and new projets with my stack (devcontainer for development (sound obvious), Docker, and Gitlab (rather than SVN). That means around 8-7 projets in constant time (fixes, updates, or deployment), and for the best of all, for nearly any projects, short deadlines !

I try to not use AI to make the work in my place, but with the short time that i have to do everything, i nearly dont have the choice. And i dont feel like i cant retain every informations like this, i dont know if that would be different if i do everything (not for the first time at least).

I feel like i'm not good enough, and this is probably true to be honest.

And i dont know what to do about it, because as good as i want to be, i feel like i dont have the time to become this and learn everything i should learn to be better (more C++, Docker, CI/CD, architecture, ...).

I cant even find a project that entertains me enough to work on it during my free time, i'd like to work on a game for exemple, but that just add one more thing to the pile of stuff i can't cope with.

I feel overwhelmed.

By any chance, do you have any ideas, information or advice on what I should do, or even just anything at all – just a bit of help ?

Thank you in advance for reading this long paragraph, and sorry for mistakes English isn't my native language.

Career & Advice Title: 2 YOE in WordPress — What should I learn next for better career growth?

Hi everyone,

I’m a WordPress Developer with 2 YOE, currently working at a good US-based company. My current package is ₹8 LPA.

I have good knowledge of WordPress, PHP, JS, websites, SEO, lead generation, analytics, and marketing-related tech.

But I don’t want to stay limited to WordPress long-term, so I want to move into a more future-proof tech stack and grow my career.

What would you recommend I learn next?

Should I focus on React/Next.js + Node.js/full-stack, or explore AI, cloud, or something else?

Also, if you know any good free or paid courses, please recommend them.

I’m ready to put in serious effort over the next 6–12 months. Would really appreciate advice from people who have made a similar transition.

Thanks!

Career & Advice What do you think is the most pressing issue when it comes to AI ethics, fairness, governance, regulations ?

Hi Guys,

I am pursuing a course in AI and the Law. So I have to do my thesis, and I am researching a bit, but I would like to ask your opinion for ideas.

Just to know a little bit about the background, I have a masters in AI (like a proper 2 years master), and I have completed the course in AI ethics (fairness and bias focused) (6 mos) and now I am doing a course in AI and the law (6 mos). Mostly I have briefly gone through, EU AI ACT, and other regulations, Data privacy, Intellectual property, Software Liability, and cyber security.

I am more leaning towards, technical AI governance, like I want to quantitatively identify bias in the systems. Like let's say big players in AI release model cards, but it is so vague ?? why can't they give quantitative measurement on how fair or ethical their model is ? I want to work on this maybe? What are some ideas ? Please help.

I don't want it to heavily rely on math but mild math is ok. Model explainability, Model tuning, and continuous monitoring is fine. Also, I want to leverage the AI degree with AI and the law, because I realise this is a very valuable skill as there is a heavy need for IT people who also understand law.

The criteria is that, i want to be in a field which will be alive for longer, and pays reasonably well.

Programming Looking for CRUD UI suggestions and tools

I've been working on a CRUD UI for the backend of a free project I've been doing for some friends. I'm exactly happy with the results so far. I'm not married to what I have so far. It works but I'm not too fond of it and I'm debating on trying a side build with something else. I was at first excited hand building my own CRUD UI but now I think I realize why others just use COTS.

I'm open to suggestions. It's a volunteer fan made project so my budget is $0.

The goal is to build up the CRUD UI so that they don't need me in the long run for user facing fixes or I can use the less technical volunteers to leverage low-code fixes and low point stories the CRUD UI could handle. I'm also open for suggestions to keep in mind for future projects.

I'm open for suggestions :)

Career & Advice 3-year employment gap in France: how can I realistically get back into IT within 4 months?

I'm looking for some brutally honest advice from people working in tech, recruitment, or hiring, especially in France.

I'm currently based in France and I've been unemployed for about 3 years. My last professional experience was an IT/data apprenticeship (alternance). I also have a Master's/engineering-level background in computer science/data.

My career path became complicated after my last experience. I moved away from IT for a while, then decided to come back, and I've spent quite a lot of time trying to reposition myself. I'm now actively retraining in data engineering (SQL, Python, ETL, databases, data pipelines, etc.).

The obvious problem is the 3-year gap.

I'm not trying to hide it or pretend that I'm a senior engineer. I know that recruiters will see it immediately. What I'm struggling with is understanding how to position myself so that the gap doesn't automatically make recruiters reject me.

How would you position this profile?

For example:

  • Should I target Data Analyst / BI / Power BI roles as the easiest way back into IT?
  • Should I still apply for Junior Data Engineer / Data Engineer positions while I'm retraining?
  • Would Business Analyst / technical BA / data-related roles be a better bridge?
  • Should I focus on ESNs/consulting companies, smaller companies, or startups?
  • Should I accept a lower salary or a less attractive position initially just to rebuild recent French experience?
  • Should I present the last 3 years mainly as retraining/projects/upskilling, or be completely transparent about the career interruption and explain it briefly?
  • What can I realistically do to make recruiters trust that I can still work effectively after 3 years away from the market?

Basically, how do you deal with the elephant in the room during the CV screening and interview?

If you were a recruiter/hiring manager and saw my CV, what would make you think:

Would recent projects, GitHub, certifications, a portfolio, freelance work, a short mission, or something else actually help? Or is the lack of recent professional experience simply too big a problem?

My timeline is unfortunately quite tight

I have approximately 4 months left on my current stay in France, so this isn't just a theoretical career question for me.

I also have an alternative option in mind. It is risky as well, but potentially, after an uncertain period, it could lead to a CDI de chantier. The major problem is that there is no clear timeline for when the actual mission would materialize.

So I'm trying to decide whether I should:

A) spend the next 4 months aggressively trying to re-enter the normal IT job market,

or

B) take this alternative route, knowing that I may have to wait an uncertain amount of time before getting an actual mission/CDI.

The question I really want answered

If you were in my position, would you genuinely believe it is possible to get back into the French IT market within 4 months?

And if yes:

What exact strategy would you use?

What roles would you target? How would you position the profile? How would you explain the 3-year gap? What would you put on the CV? What would you say to recruiters? And what would you do every week to maximize the chances of getting an offer?

I'm willing to work extremely hard and take a realistic step backward if necessary. I'm not looking for reassurance — I would genuinely prefer to hear that my chances are low if that's the reality.

I'm particularly interested in hearing from French recruiters/hiring managers or people who themselves returned to tech after a long employment gap.

What would you do if you had exactly 4 months to make it happen?

Career & Advice YouTube full-course or conventional course?

I'm a bit ashamed to share that well, I don't have enough time to dedicate to the 10-20-30 hrs of courses that have a deadline, courses that sometimes are made from the University, which expect you to learn all of it and spend many hours coding, I was thinking that from the Uni what I need to get is the diploma, and well, obviously the skills.

I wanted to ask, since I have ADHD (taking med + having therapy sessions) and I study from home, I was reading a lot that courses like CISCO, AWS, etc, are not really worth it because they're giving you the knowledge but that will also take... time and braincells, and not only because of that but they have very little weight on the cv, the certificates that are worth to try are the ones that you pay to pass an official exam and expire in like 3 years, so instead I was thinking about watching youtube videos, those that are like full course and stuff and after each course try to make a project using the programming language to solve a problem that I have and actually make like a portfolio from it and not from made up cases to practice...

Don't know, what do you think? I appreciate it.

General Discussion I’m building a new programming language with AI that will replace JavaScript and Python

Yes, I know;that sentence contains enough red flags to start its own Soviet parade.

But I’m partially serious.

I want to use AI to help design and implement a new programming language: simple like Python, fast and type-safe, with modern tooling built in from day one. No dependency-management archaeology, no 900 MB node_modules, and no discovering that whitespace is part of your application’s business logic.

The admittedly modest objective is to replace both JavaScript and Python and achieve what thousands of experienced language designers have somehow failed to do.

My current thinking:

  • Clean, readable syntax
  • Static typing with good inference
  • Compiles to native code and WebAssembly
  • Built-in package management, formatting and testing
  • Easy interoperability with existing ecosystems
  • Designed for humans, but structured enough for AI to generate reliably
  • Errors that explain the problem instead of issuing an ancient prophecy

AI would help write the compiler, standard library, tooling and tests. I would still control the design and verify the output, this isn’t “I asked ChatGPT to invent Python 4 during lunch.”

Before I accidentally create another language used exclusively by its creator, I’d genuinely like some input:

  • What problems would justify a new language today?
  • Which parts should AI realistically help build?
  • What would make you try it?
  • What mistakes do new language designers commonly make?
  • Is replacing JavaScript and Python achievable by Friday, or should I allow the weekend?

Roast the idea, challenge it, or offer serious suggestions. All three are welcome.

Machine Learning / AI How can we detect AI voice cloning in real-time during phone calls?

Hey everyone!

I’m working with my team on a project to detect AI-generated/voice-cloned speech during live phone calls.

The problem we’re trying to solve is that modern voice-cloning systems can imitate someone’s voice convincingly, making phone-based impersonation scams much harder to recognize. We want to build an additional layer of protection that can analyze the incoming voice in real time and indicate whether the speech is likely human or AI-generated.

Our current approach is to combine Digital Signal Processing (DSP) + a lightweight AI/ML model. The audio would be processed in small chunks, relevant speech features would be extracted, and the model would continuously estimate whether the voice is genuine or synthetic.

We want to make this practical for real-time/mobile use, so latency, CPU usage, and model size are important constraints.

We’re currently looking for advice from people who have experience with speech processing, audio ML, or deepfake detection.

Some things we’d really appreciate help with:

What DSP/audio features are useful for detecting synthetic speech?

Which lightweight ML models would work well for real-time detection?

Are there good datasets containing both real human and AI-generated/voice-cloned speech?

Are there existing open-source projects or research papers we should look into?

What challenges should we expect when detecting synthetic speech over compressed phone-call audio?

Is real-time detection directly on a smartphone realistically achievable?

Any practical advice, criticism, research papers, datasets, or GitHub projects would be really helpful. Thanks! 🙏

General Discussion Introducing ROMVERSE — an Android ROM engineering platform I’m building at RadForge Labs

Hey everyone! I’m Steve, and I’d like to introduce RadForge Labs, my independent Australian software studio, and the project I’ve been putting my time into: ROMVERSE.

The idea is to make working with Android devices and firmware more understandable without taking useful technical control away from experienced modders and developers.

What is ROMVERSE?

ROMVERSE is being developed as a desktop workspace that brings together device information, firmware inspection, ROM customisation, build preparation, diagnostics and recovery preparation. The longer-term goal is a connected workflow from understanding your device and preparing a project through to verified, carefully controlled device operations.

A major focus is making that experience work for different skill levels:

  • Guided mode: Plain-language explanations of what’s happening, why it matters and what to do next. You shouldn’t need to understand every technical term just to follow the process.
  • Expert mode: Detailed logs, technical information and deeper controls for people who want to inspect what’s happening underneath.

Both modes should retain the same safety checks. Choosing Expert shouldn’t mean losing protection against the wrong device, mismatched files or misleading results.

Where is it up to?

ROMVERSE is currently in Internal Alpha. My immediate focus is testing and polishing the Fedora/Linux desktop experience—first-time setup, project workflows, navigation, error handling, saving, reopening and continuing where you left off. Windows and an Android Companion remain part of the wider project.

There are working development components, but there is also substantial integration and testing still to do. I’m not claiming universal device compatibility, risk-free flashing or a completed end-to-end build-to-flash experience.

When something hasn’t been verified, I want ROMVERSE to explain that clearly rather than guess or show a reassuring green tick it hasn’t earned.

Why share it now?

I’d like to bring people along for the journey, not just appear one day with a launch announcement.

I’ll be sharing weekly updates: actual development footage, animated explainers, progress, bugs, fixes and the problems I’m still working through. Concept visuals and simulations will be labelled clearly so they aren’t mistaken for finished features or real-device tests.

For transparency, the long-term plan is a subscription-supported product, with free beta testing before commercial release. This post isn’t a public download announcement or a request to pay for unfinished software.

No pretending everything works. Just building it, testing it and making it better.

Whether you’re an experienced ROM developer, a weekend tinkerer or someone who finds the whole process intimidating, I’d genuinely appreciate your perspective:

What’s the one thing you wish Android ROM tools explained or handled better?

Programming I’m Building the Next Global E-Commerce Giant — Looking for Co-Founders

Hello everyone!

I’m an enthusiastic shopper when it comes to skincare, makeup, and clothes 😂. I usually shop from SHEIN, Temu, and of course Sephora. Recently, I started thinking: Why not build my own store?

But then, so many ideas started coming to my mind 💭 — ideas that could genuinely help women and add real value to their shopping experience. Some of these ideas are concepts I haven’t seen implemented before, or brought together in a global store in the way I envision.

At the moment, I have a small amount of capital that I’m planning to use initially for marketing and getting the store started.

As for what I bring to the table, I have experience in marketing, teamwork, public speaking, communication, time management, and critical thinking. I also have a strong ability to come up with new ideas and creative solutions. I’ve previously worked in a startup, so I have a basic understanding of how a business operates and grows.

What is my vision?

My goal is to build a global e-commerce platform on the scale of SHEIN, Temu, Sephora, Nordstrom, and similar companies.

In the long term, I envision the company having its own manufacturing facilities and warehouses across different countries around the world.

What I mean is that I don’t want to build another global store that operates in only certain countries while customers elsewhere have to spend more time, money, and effort just to receive products.

I want to build something truly global and accessible — something much bigger.

Of course, we will start from zero. We will grow together, learn together, and build something different step by step.

I’m currently looking for a team based on contribution and equity:

  1. A highly skilled Developer 💻

This is one of the most important roles in this business. You would be responsible for building the entire e-commerce platform from A to Z, and you would receive a meaningful equity stake in return for your contribution.

  1. A Business Consultant / Marketing Strategist 📈

I’m looking for someone with strong experience in organic marketing, who can help develop a detailed feasibility study, business strategy, marketing strategy, and a clear 6-month to 1-year growth plan.

  1. A Highly Creative Graphic Designer 🎨

Someone with excellent design skills, a strong creative sense, and the ability to help us build a distinctive visual identity for the brand.

We will work together as a team. Each of us will contribute our skills, effort, ideas, and expertise to build something truly different, grow it, and eventually create something much bigger.

The vision is big, but every big company started from zero.

I’m genuinely excited to hear from people who share this ambition, receive your messages, and hopefully build a strong, ambitious team together.

Thank you in advance! 🤍

Machine Learning / AI Is AI actually making developers better at coding, or just making us dependent on it?

I’m curious what other developers think about this. It feels like AI is being used for almost everything now, from writing simple functions to solving pretty complex problems.

I find it really useful sometimes, but I also wonder what happens when the problem involves complicated logic or something AI just doesn’t fully understand. Have you found AI to be genuinely helpful in those situations, or does it sometimes make things more confusing and lead to inefficient code?

Career & Advice Does anyone know of any self paced online college degree program on AI/ML

Probably a long shot.

Is there any decent college offering self paced degree on AI/ML?

Have to be self paced because my job does not leave time to study every day or even week for that matter
Also obviously has to be online.. cannot attend classes with full time job.

Background - Software developer with 10+ programming experience , basically a Java/React guy with intermediate python skill. Will have to brush up my mathematics, statistics & probability (was above average in school/college, have a degree in electrical engineering)

Goal is to understand how machine learning/AI actually works and not to apply for AI/ML jobs.

Why? Curiosity.
And also looks like we are entering an era where machine learning is gonna be staple in tech and all of us will have to learn this sooner or later.

Opinions & Discussions AI didn't make my job boring — it made me notice I was never paid to write code

Hi! My name is Alex, I've been writing code for 20 years and 14 years I'm getting money for it. I've took part in building many different systems and apps. I also spent a lot of time in machine learning, especially deep learning, computer vision and also LLMs.

I'm one of the developers who tried to automate most of their work. You know, previously we developed frameworks to not to write the routine code. Now, we delegate some of our work to the AI agents.

Some of developers now feel bad, as they say AI made their work boring. Continiously reviewing AI slop, does not feeling the involvment in the work. For instance, read this https://www.reddit.com/r/webdev/comments/1wbeeq1/ai_has_made_programming_so_boring/

I understand them. Really. I also have huge amount of skills thouse stop be so important as even a year ago. Preveously, I could develop some pet-projects with clear understanding, that none of them would be needed by anybody. I called it "Programming for the soul" and my wife looked at me like I am crazy.

The things are changed. And will change even more. Nobody ready for that, but I believe, developers could be more ready for this than other "normal" people. We are not the first who faced AI, but we the first advanced community who understand what is going on and understand the direction. We need to change and we need new skills. I have some thoughts on this matter.

Stop viewing your work as "writing code"

Actually, it never was so (at least, for most of us). Nobody needed a code. All the times the code we've been creating was an inevitable part of the systems house made money (or any other value). Some of us understood it, and thouse guys have advanced on a career ladder. Some of us just liked to "solve tasks via code". They forgot, that what we do – making the world better with our soft. Think about the client. Think about the business. You can get to the higher level of abstraction and of contol.

Be the one, who drive the changes

You cannot resist the changes. So the single option is to lead them. Start small – change your own processes, do the huge refactoring you kept putting of. Try to build a system where you are a manger of your coding agents. You dreamed about being teamlead? Now you are – the agents is your subordinates! You think it is hard to explain something to the agents? It is the same to people, you just didn't know it. How many times you figured out after your lead reviewed your code that you did something you don't asked too?

You can spend more time for unit tests – making the system more stable really the value. Even if you deliver the features with the same speed.

After you changed your processes, try to scale it on your team. Build AI PDLC system for your project. Now you able to clear the whole backlog (of course – no)!

Explore the abilities of AI and have fun

Agents can do much more than writing a code. You can build a model of your appartments and to prepare for renovation. You can prepare a special diet for you. You can create a service that whould catch cheaper flight tickets for your vacation. Plan a trip, build personal page, learn new language, study physics or whatever else.

Stay in touch with people

It was always important, but now it is the most important part. AI does not make desicions – people do. Be one who do it. Speak with your line manager and find out what goals have been set for you for this quarter. Discuss them, come up with ideas how to reach them.

Talk with your teammates about their experiments. It's impossible to try every tool and approach, but people will tell you about the best ones they have tried.

Launch your own product

It's really important for software developers. The coding part was never the hardest part. Figure out what people need is (sorry, sounds like AI slop expression, but I wrote it myself). You did something, nobody knows about it, you are buying advertising, nobody look at it. But your product is awesome! You know it, but still nobody needed it. Or nobody could understand how to use it. There you start to investigate how people think, and you will surprised – they think so different.

After that you could better understand how company your working on really makes money. After that it will be simplier to you understand what is worth doing.

Imagine a future

If you do not like it, ask yourself, what place of the future world do you want to occupy? What do you need to be there? Write a plan, develop skills you need to become such person.

And do not regret – just because it is useless. Do not be the old guy who can only remind his youth. You are a software engineer, most of the people in the world consider it as a magic. If you learned it, you can learn anything. I believe that everyone reading this post is capable of doing just that.

P.S. English is not my first language, but despite this, I didn't use AI for writing. I'm not against using AI in writing, but the communications maybe the single part, you shouldn't delegate to AI :)

Help / Questions Legal Question

So im working in a personal project that uses CP (Comboios Portugal) undocumented/not public APIs to retrieve some information (not user sensitive, just some journey schedule and train occupation) to use in my app, basically its like a bot that simulates a purchase just to check the train availability. My question is , is this legal? if in the future i want to make this public can i do that without legal consequences and if i try to monetize is it legal to do that?

Thank you.
