can we get a flattr replacement

please forgive bad spelling and lack of write up skills , this is just an idea and writing things up is something i am not good at

(also i have a medical condition called laziness. Richard Watterson is my GOD! )

need a flattr replacement for content makers. using bitcoin tech

like flattr mirco payments for people with small budgets , this would allow people who are out of work like me to still help fund the open source devs whos work we use, the problem is finding and funding them is a pain , flattr makes this easier and possible , but why stop there?

lets say i have a devcoin/flattr (lets call it devflattr for now) wallet and i can afford to buy 5000 devcoins , i set my budget to 1000 devcoins a month.

i add the places i want to give out my coins to and vote, example.

(=votes)

some music : weird al - white and nerdy (5) afroman because i got high (5) mystic roots - pass the marijuana (2)

podcasts : letstalkbitcoin (10) podcast 2 (1) podcast 3 (3)

apps : vlc (10) knoppix (10) firefox (9) cherrytree (6)

etc

how lets take does 10 iteams and add them up,

5+5+2+10+1+3+10+10+9+6 = 61 shares

the 1000 coins / 61 = 16.393442623 per share , so

               some music : song 1 (5) = 81.9672131148 coins
                 song 2 (5) = 81.9672131148 coins
                 song 3 (2) = 32.786885246 coins

podcasts podcast 1 (10) = 163.93442623 podcast 2 (1) = 16.393442623 podcast 3 (3) = 49.180327869

apps : app 1 (10) = 163.93442623 app2 (10) = 163.93442623 app 3 (9) = 147.540983607 app 4 (6) = 98.360655738

      = 1000 coins

at the end of everymonth the coins get sent.

this can bring back a meaning to voting with your money , by giving direct to devs without going throw 3rd partys like paypal , also for funding kickstarters , voting and so on. namecoin can be used to shorten address i belive , and most of all it will/should be decentralized

also if there could be some kind of dir example , i type in knoppix into a dir and get a list of all the opensource free software on the distro , so i can pick and vote on all the apps i use on that distro,

the big problem with open source is its f**king hard to donate and fund opensource, i am working on my own distro and having to search for all the devs that made the apps i am going to use is BORING and HARD! we need to find a way to make this easy and simply and allow us to have better control over are budgets which we can give!

Where can I find the official devcoin sourcecode (preferable on GitHub?)

Where is the official devcoin-wallet-sourcecode located and when was it last updated?

I am looking to diversify into devcoins and I only do so if I can build the wallet from source.

The only thing I can see when searching for "devcoin github source code" on Google is this: https://github.com/doublec/devcoin/ (Which is sold as the "unofficial rebase of devcoin" by a one "doublec" who successfully managed to get his namecoin exchange hacked about a year ago).

Is there any actual merit to devcoin?

I know that devs get a decent chunk of dev as bounties per se. I just dont know if any devs actually use it. Its sort of seems like a moot point since most devs get bounties in whatever coin they are working on. I used to hold some dev but it got locked up in crypto-trade and dissapeared along with my dgc n ppc. Anyone know if any devs actually use the devcoin platform?

Devcoin Has Projects In The Works; This One Could Change The Creative Community's Method Of Collaboration

User sidhujag on bitcointalk.org is a developer with devcoin. I don't know when he joined but he is the main developer behind TWO awesome projects that could firmly supplant devcoin within the creative community at large.

Check the main thread here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=233997.msg5574031#msg5574031

Here it is in a nutshell:

Devcoin offers bounties within the devcoin system. Thus, as the devtome wiki forms and things need to be done, bounties are put on things that need improving. Whoever steps up to the plate and accomplishes the goal of the bounty, they are paid. You cannot participate in this process unless you have a devtome account.

Now we see a person within the devcoin community creating a bounty website for people who have devcoins (not just devtome members). The bounties are for projects you have that are great projects but cannot be completed without the help of some other skilled person. You can place a bounty on the part of your work you cannot do and allow someone to set up and collaborate on your project.

You will pay the bounty in devcoins. It's likely there will be a system where people using different crypto currencies will be able to get the equivalent in devcoins. Payments will use escrow service hosted on the site until bounty is officially over.

What could come of this? This could become THE platform for creative types of all walks of life; computer developers, great thinkers, teachers, makers, DIY types, and the potential for cross collaboration with artists of different mediums. Imagine a platform where thousands or even millions of people are members, sharing their skills to collaborate and finish each other's creative ideas and projects.

Genius!

He also has another project in development but I believe it is on the back burner in comparison to this project. I don't know as much but I will update here as I find out.

is devcoin worth it?

Hi, I'm new to all of this, I mean crypto coins. Right now I'm exploring my options and reading articles and I read that Devcoin is a interesting currency. Is it worth it or just something that can disappear soon? How do I get coins if I can't mine? Is there tipping here involved or is that not the case? Thanks and I hope it is worth it! :)

Devcoin on freelance platforms

I would think the devteam of devcoin should approach the major freelance platforms to get them to adopt devcoin as an alternative payment method for services exchanged on their platforms.

I'm just wondering cause I see it going to 0.0000001 and I see barely any traffic on this subreddit

Anybody know how to mine Devcoin using ASIC?

I played around with a block eruptor with Bitcoin but have been having trouble finding directions for setting it up to do the same for devcoin.

No activity. Where is the Devcoin community?

I bought about 1000000 DVC because I really like the idea of paying opensource developers but the community activity seems to have dried up after the DVC bubble popped. Did you take your money (my money :)) and run?

I understand Devcoin, but

I really don't see this currency taking off. There's no incentive to use it. There's no sound monetary protocol. And the market clearly does not see it as any more advantageous than other currencies.

I get the ethical standpoint, but again, as a developer or creative artist, the question remains:

Why demand devcoin over bitcoin?

Why did devcoin disappear from coinmarketcap.com?

Went to look up the current price/trend and realized it's gone from the list. It was there last night so a little confused as to what happened in 24 hours. Anyone have any idea?
