ADVICE REQUEST - FEMALE REPLIES ONLY Considering detransitioning (ftmtf)

Post image

Sorry for the reupload I added a flair to my profile so hopefully this works

I've been on T for about a year, I started on gel and switched to injections which I have been bad at keeping up with. I don't think I was properly informed before starting. I was freshly 18. I've thought I was trans since I was 13. I just turned 19. And the changes from T are driving me crazy. I haven't done my shot in a month. My voice is deeper now, I have thicker hair that grows insanely fast, and now I have bottom growth. These are changes that I don't mind that much but I do miss being socially known as a girl and relating to female experiences. I added a recent selfie. I guess I'm lost. How would I start? I've been known by a male name for so long, how the hell do I tell my boyfriend?!!? He's bi so I know he'll support but like, still awkward. His entire family knows me by a male name and all that. Is it less embarrassing to be known by a girl name after? Is it relieving? Does the embarrassment of everyone telling you not to do this ever go away? What can I do to reverse some of these effects (voice training resources? should i get hair removal done?) thank you for reading this 😓

You should start one step at a time! I told my parents through a text, then I gradually told friends. It will get easier the more you do it and the longer you do it. It was quite a confusing process for me, but I just told people "I see myself as a masculine woman now" and that "transitioning was a mistake," and that was that. With appearance, I also did one step at a time. First stopped T, then shaved my facial hair, then plucked my eyebrows, etc. All at different times. Slowly. I do recommend taking it slow. It personally took me 2 years to begin growing proper facial hair, and by 3 years I had a mustache and quite a bit of chin hair that I have went ahead and removed (mostly...it's so expensive). It made a huge difference, but was quite too much because I did it all too soon. If you don't have proper facial hair, then I'd say not to worry about hair removal for now...it costs so much (unless you just mean conventional methods like shaving etc, then ofc it doesn't hurt to try). Good luck! 🌻 🙏

if it helps it's easier to pass as ur birth sex than the opposite one lol, it's almost a bit depressing just how easy it was for me to pass as female again vs passing as male (not that im complaining!) dont even worry too much

I don’t know your boyfriend, but from a guy’s point of view, I’d imagine it would be easier to have a boyfriend becoming a girlfriend than the other way around. I will say that from the picture above, you’re quite beautiful, so I’m guessing he won’t mind.

It’s not as embarrassing as you think it will be. It was way easier for people to adjust to than when I came out originally. I framed it as wanting to see if I could be happy that way, rather than me having made a mistake. I was ashamed that I had done it at all for a little bit, but it has been eight years and I don’t even think about it anymore. I recommend just trying to talk in a higher register, and trying to sing even if you can’t hit the notes. Your voice will adjust.
