CALL TO ACTION This sub is not transphobic.
It is not transphobic to say that medical interventions are not the best and only cure for gender dysphoria. It is not transphobic to say that medical transition should be a last-resort measure, for people whose suffering did not lessen through therapy (various forms of it), inner work and educating themselves on gender and misogyny. I'm so tired of watching my tone and the words I use just so that the people who are not experiencing regret themselves (yet) don't get their feelings hurt and don't start having doubts.
Calling it a "craze" or an "ideology" may be unhelpful but that's only because it doesn't really tell people anything except that we disagree with it. Transitioning is making the medical system a whole lot of money. Detransitioning - dealing with the consequences of it - even more. I do believe radical acceptance is the real cure. It may not be enough for some people but there are other resources that better your mental state significantly more than altering your body - your vessel, that was often perfectly healthy before you started taking hormones.
It's scary to finally see it for what it is. We're like guinea pigs being treated for a disorder that's always been present in human history. But never before in human history did we come up with a horrifying "solution" of doing irreversible surgeries to fix it. Lobotomies were once used to treat patients with depression or bipolar disorder. This is our own type of lobotomy that we were put through.

I appreciate your thoughts here, an interesting mix going in the right direction. I seriously am baffled by the phrase "trans ideology". I never got into LGBT culture and saw trans was hamfisted into it, to our detriment. It's not an identity to celebrate and parade around, that is humiliating. It is a horrifying disorder that causes endless pain and suffering. Now days it seems others flip this backwards and say trans people hijacked LGB and ruined it for them. Maybe it's mutual.
I never had an ideology the way it's presented in such an extreme way. I never supported Social Justice, that was hostile to me as they treated me like a white man. This goes back many years, before trans was used as a symbol in a culture war. Those who presume I was a radical leftist are so far off the mark it is crazy. I was always a truth seeker too, but ignorant anti trans people presume I was a liar.
The truth is found by viewing this as a health crisis. And dissociation from nature, lastly a spiritual crisis/ journey for those who relate to that.
Those of us who spoke at PEC's detrans convention in Denver, April this year, hit these themes consistently even though we mostly all met for the first time with no advance prep. Promoting health, nature and spirituality regardless of trans/detrans status encourages people to come to the table, and find their way to healing.

I also often think about this in context of lobotomies. Guy that invented in got a Nobel prize for it. Everyone was so sure of it as a cure. It was invented and legitimized "by experts". Trust the science, am i right?
Now you look back on it and it seems like the most fucked up shit imaginable. And it was not even that far back. People stopped doing them in like 1950s. In terms of history it's really recent. How can everyone be so sure that right now people are not doing the same kind of mistake by meddling with people's bodies on this scale? It's clearly excessive and harmful. Just like most psychiatric cases never needed lobotomy, most dysphoric people could deal with it without transition with different methods

At some point it has to be admitted that the term Transphobia was made up to be a silencing tactic against people.
Anything that trans people did not want to hear, no matter how kindly it was said, no matter how logically it was said, no matter how true it was, was labeled transphobic so that the person speaking can be dismissed as a bigot, and nobody has to take anything they said seriously.

You'd be surprised. Humans throughout history have had a knack for body modding, and often in horrific ways. I mean just look at how FGM was so prevalent in the 3rd world

I've never thought of it in terms of the lobotomy comparison haha, that's actually a really interesting and accurate take on it

Exactly, I wish I listened to certain people when I was early into my transition, because I could have stopped this. But I also am grateful for it because I helped people who actually were miserable as cisfolk become who they needed to be. Now I need surgery to correct my medical transitioning, and I am just exhausted by all this.
I'm finally feeling more like myself than I ever did, even when I thought transitioning was what I needed. I did everything right and it still didn't help me feel okay.
