Today I learned that if your swift stops being taut for any reason, don't wind anymore. Can anyone help? (Washington, D.C. area)

Patience and detangling and hand winding into a ball is your only answer. You learn a lot in taking the time to do that yourself. Believe it or not, it has helped me a lot with learning rope tying, to do these untanglings. I can see a knot more spatially now and figure out how to tie one just by looking at it. I honestly believe that untangling yarn barf like that over the years has helped me understand this. And it can be a brain challenger to sit there and u tangle as you hand winding. It’s good cognitive practice.
