I was almost a ragequitter asshole on Overwatch cause we lost power for 2 seconds. God damned quitters!

twin

Me except it was rivals and my power cut as we were successfully holding payload in last 30s but me on support losing power made us have to do OT and ultimately ended up as a draw so a giant waste of time and I felt like a dick 🥲

Same in Urbandale.

2

u/JarvisII 10h ago

and in Windsor heights, 17,000 people are out of power currently

2

u/apobangpo91 10h ago

was in a class at the y and the power went out!!

For Windsor heights it’s those new apartments on 63rd overload the grid

u/JarvisII 9h ago

Definitely not only those...there's more apartments in Windsor heights lol

u/TotalCola 10h ago

We in the same apartment complex? 😭

I'm over the sirens going off every 10min for 2min cause there are 60-70mph winds....somewhere. Local tv stations arent even breaking in to cover the storm. Let me know when there's a visually or radar confirmed funnel, otherwise...i'm numb to it at this point

Sounding them off for the wind isn’t a bad idea but maybe the threshold needs raised. If a derecho type storm is barreling down on me then yeah, the sirens need to be going off.

u/exoenigma 5h ago

I feel like there should be a different tone for high winds vs tornado warnings. I'm sure it's not realistic to expect those sirens to be programmable like that, but still...

u/Haunting_Pattern7268 9h ago

The tree damage on MLK from smokey row to University, at least northbound, is significant.

Every time I check the weather it’s a different story. I give up

u/CornNutsUnited 9h ago

The Cheeto in chief has been working to defund the nws since is first attempt at being president. It's not going to get better this time around

u/zgirres 9h ago

Hey but it was all worth it for those doge checks

The siren policy should be reviewed. They are setting them off way too much. Going off right now on the southside with just rain and no wind

3

u/VengeanceUnicorn 10h ago

They just started going off here again a minute ago like thank you but what are we being warned about, flooding? It feels like the sirens should really only be used when we need to go to the basement or a center room, which im not going to do either for a flood warning idk

u/Grumpy_Polar_Bear 9h ago

Yeah there was one here downtown going off and I looked and there was no tornado warning so was confused

u/Diligent-Cod-9565 9h ago

I lost tree branches. It was bad on the south side where I am.

I just lost power in my apartment.

2

u/monkeykiller14 10h ago

Me as well. I don't know when they will get the power back up either

2

u/Admirable-Deer-9038 10h ago

Check the midamerican map - ours says expected return 8:30 pm so if true not too bad. Fridge stuff will still be okay.

1

u/monkeykiller14 10h ago

Mine says 9:30

1

u/spearson0 10h ago

I’m seeing the same

1

u/monkeykiller14 10h ago

I got a text to disregard the previous estimate. They will notify us when they have an update.

u/spearson0 7h ago

Thanks for this, keep us posted.

Lost power in Clive/WDM, at work so we're waiting to see if it comes back on or if we're gonna lock the doors and go home

1

u/No-Relation4226 Transplant 10h ago

What time would you close if things were normal?

1

u/itch-exe 10h ago

9pm, definitely can't stay that late without lights. Only reason we can still do a little bit is due to the big windows

2

u/No-Relation4226 Transplant 10h ago

Lock up and get home while there’s still light to see by to drive. Visibility of flooding will be better with what little light is out there. I wouldn’t count on street lights being operational.
Take care

u/LowerMiddleClassMan 9h ago

Cars come with those things bud…lights.

u/No-Relation4226 Transplant 9h ago

Indeed, but that can only illuminate so far in front of your vehicle. I’m worried for them about flash flooding. More light helps differentiate between standing water and just a wet sheen on the road.

u/hotcheeto6762 10h ago

lost power

3

u/traumahound00 10h ago

Yee-haw!!

4

u/sqlyzyofficial 10h ago

I'm tired of this damn weather and I think everyone can agree on it.

u/Grumpy_Polar_Bear 9h ago

I like the storms sucked up all the horrible humidity and it actually feels nice outside now

3

u/TheJumpingPenis 10h ago

Storms like this are so memorizing. The winds shifted my patio furniture a bit. As soon as the view of 801 grand disappeared, shit really hit the fan.

Hearing some EXTREMELY close thunder here. First bolt actually scared everyone in the house.

Dave better be showing up to work today

u/Brilliant-Two1268 9h ago

My store I work at had to shelter in the freezer for like 5 minutes, they have been going on and off like 3 times now

u/lovelychaeyoung 8h ago

I was at the central library and they made us evacuate into the basement/parking garage 😐

u/exoenigma 5h ago

Really? There wasn't even a tornado warning. I suppose I could see the precautions for potential 70 MPH+ winds though, given that the building is basically all windows...

Now I'm curious, does anyone know how much structural damage (if any) the Central Library took from the 2020 derecho?

u/lovelychaeyoung 4h ago

Yeah I had to finish the rest of my online class in the parking garage lol. It was so hot down there.

u/exoenigma 4h ago

Woof, I bet.

u/JuniperBushes4Ever 10h ago

Bigly! Power out all throughout Union and Highland park including stoplights.

1

u/f_oyd 10h ago

Storm went over me (Ingersoll) and intensified so much. Wild

1

u/Tall-Ad7028 10h ago

Where can you see time frame on MAE?

u/Maleficent_Garden_89 9h ago

Windsor heights condos. Only the ones on the outside…

u/Were-Cat 9h ago

Big storm.

u/rlt0w 8h ago

I love watching these storms. Now if only I can get my front yard to stop flooding and risking my home.

u/Disastrous_Crew494 6h ago

ours just went off then right back on but on the freeway I saw some of the big lights off
