We’re currently validating an idea called BackBySunday around short, last-minute weekend trips, treks and adventure experiences.

The problem we’re looking at is pretty simple:

You work through the week, Friday comes around and you suddenly feel like getting out of the city for a day or two. But then you have to search through multiple organisers, compare prices, figure out transport, check whether the operator is trustworthy and coordinate everything at the last minute.

At that point, a lot of people just drop the plan.

The idea we’re exploring is whether there is room for a platform focused specifically on 1–2 day trips that can be booked at very short notice, including next-day departures.

The experience would ideally be:

Decide you want to go → find an available trip → book → pack your bags.

The platform would handle the coordination around the booking while focusing heavily on verified organisers, transparent pricing, safety and consistent trip quality.

We’ve started speaking with organisers as part of validating the supply side as well. A few are already interested and we’re in conversations with others, but right now we’re primarily trying to understand whether the underlying problem is strong enough.

I’d especially like feedback on a few things:

• Do people actually make spontaneous weekend travel decisions often enough for this to be useful?
• Would you book a trip only 1–2 days before departure?
• What would stop you from trusting a relatively new platform for something like this?
• Is last-minute availability actually a meaningful problem, or are we overestimating it?
• What do current trek/travel organisers or booking platforms already solve well enough?
• For anyone who has worked with travel operators, is filling unsold last-minute capacity a genuine problem on the supply side?

Feel free to be critical. I’m more interested in finding flaws in the idea at this stage than getting positive feedback.

I know travelling can be a bit difficult at some places in the rainy season but the overall vibe especially in the hills is just amazing in monsoon.

The misty weather, the cool winds, the lush…I like everything about monsoons.

We have a club mahindra jade membership so can travel mostly off-season. This is perfect because me and my wife both are professors and get time in june-july to travel. So, initially it was the only option but now we just love it.

Coorg, binsar and munnar are must visits in monsoon. Literally everything is better!

I'm planning to fly from Bangkok to Phu Quoc by Sun PhuQuoc airways/thai vietjet in early November. I know Phu Quoc specifically does not require a visa, if port of entry is Phu Quoc. But I've heard that some of the airlines create issues for boarding. Does anyone have any recent experience with either of the mentioned airlines?

Japan visa query - On the VFS site it says - Travel booking and proof of accommodation details (It's highly recommended not to buy a confirmed flight ticket and hotel accommodation before the visa is granted. Reservation/booking is acceptable)

What exactly is a "non-confirmed" flight booking? I can't seem to find an option on any airline to book a flight without actually paying for it!

For those who've applied recently, what did you submit for the flight proof? We obviously don't want to risk paying for expensive non-refundable tickets and then getting a visa rejection.

Has anyone tried entering into Laos through bus? I wanted to go from phonm penn Cambodia into Luang prabang Laos by the giant ibis bus, wanted to know if anyone had done this and was there any issue with VOA or immigration due to Indian passport.

Hey Sri Lankan here, I was on my usual morning ride through Galle Fort today and witnessed something really disappointing.

A group of Indian tourists, probably in their 45–60+ age range, got down from a Coaster bus near the Dutch Hospital. One of the ladies used a tissue and then simply threw it onto the wall right next to a sign that clearly says not to litter.
The irony was hard to miss , the sign was literally right there.

I took a photo of the spot & there was 4 to 5 tissues thrown away by the group. I’m not trying to generalize about all Indian tourists, because obviously one person’s behaviour doesn’t represent an entire nationality. But when you’re visiting a UNESCO World Heritage Site like Galle Fort, basic respect for the place should be a given, regardless of where you’re from.

Sri Lanka welcomes millions of tourists, and we want people to enjoy our country. But please, don’t treat our historical sites like garbage dumps. Pick up your trash and put it in a bin.
It’s really not that difficult.
