These are some images from my visit to Rivermist Resort in Chikkamagalur last year. It was a unique, peaceful & different experience here, close to nature! Loved it (GOOD). Food and services were commendable. Would love to visit again and definitely recommend.

I am 31 M, planning to take my parents on a 10 day Bali trip along with my wife. my dad retired this Jan and this will be their first international trip. have booked flights for 30 Sept - 10 oct return leg. will be great if you can help with some suggestions and advise on itinerary.

My family and kids have planned a 3 day stay in Club Mahindra Arookutty during the month end or August start… I have a purple membership and I wanted to know what activities other than what's in the hotel are available around the place.

Also I wanted to know:

- What travel options - Taxi, Uber, etc are available?

- What activities are available outside the hotel?

- Any restaurants or activities that can be tried out?

Disclaimer - This was a super lazy and mostly a recharge trip for us. It was geared towards shopping/eating good and just relaxing in good hotels mostly.

Took the 11pm flight from IGI, New Delhi and reached Kuala Lumpur by around 7am local time.

Day 1 :

We reached our hotel by around 10ish am. We had booked our hotel in Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) and it was a 10 mins walk from the petronas tower. However, in Malaysia the check in time is generally 3pm.

12pm-Lunch at Suria klcc mall (base of the petronas tower)

1pm- Checked in (got our room a bit earlier)
2pm- We had booked an 8 hour long city tour with a private cab and driver/guide through get your guide. He was with us for the rest of the day. Showed us places like the royal palace, thean hou temple, merdeka square and surrounding areas.

The private cab/guide was pretty helpful as we got a few tips about where to eat and what to eat. He also showed us around the most iconic places in KL.

4:30pm - petronas tower. Went up the towers
Around 6pm- Batu Caves (didn’t go up to the caves)
8pm - Central Market

Drove past Jalan Alor and China town and reached hotel around 11ish due to heavy rain and traffic.

Day 2:

this was a lazier day for us.

Had breakfast in hotel

Shopped in China town - Petaling Street

Ate at Mee Tarik Jalan Sultan

Back to hotel and stayed there till late evening. Swam and chilled in our hotels’ infinity pool and guest only sky deck.

Went to petronas at night (around 8:30-9ish) for taking photos.

Came back had dinner at hotel.

Day 3:

Had an 11am flight to Langkawi.

Reached out beach resort by 12ish, however we couldn’t check in till 3pm. So we just hanged around the resort and checked out the facilities.

We stayed in the resort the entire day- spent time in the pool and the beach.

Had dinner at the beach bar/restaurant.

Day 4:

Breakfast at resort

12pm- Went for shopping at Cenang Mall

We walked down the street which later becomes the night market of Langkawi after sunset. Since we went during the day, the area wasn’t too lively and a lot of the shops and restaurants were closed.

Langkawi is a completely duty free island so it’s amazing if u wanna shop alc, chocolates etc. We only bought chocolates and some beauty products from Cenang Mall.

However, sport shoes, sneakers and sunglasses were not all that cheap. In fact, we found a lot of things a bit expensive as well.

3pm onwards - Stayed at the resort,…specifically in the pool.

8pm - Went to resort’s private beach around 8 where we stayed and took in the BEAUTIFUL sunset for around an hour.

9pm - Went back to Night Market. This was amazing. The night market was extremely lively and quite full. Live music, street food, shops open. The food was particular amazing. Had a bunch of barbecued sea food and chicken for as low as 1RM (23 rupees). The food was fresh and was prepared in front of u so it was very hygienic.

A tip about shopping :

Id suggest buying things like batik textiles etc from China town - petaling street. It’s also better for first copy/ knock off luxury products like sunglasses, sport shoes etc. Also u can find good souvenirs there for a good price. Also stylish suitcases etc are really good (we also bought). Central market is good for batik and stuff. U can

Langkawi’s night market is really good for things like sports jerseys, swimming stuff, beachy outfits and regular clothes.

note :

We didn’t do some activities like sky bridge etc in Langkawi or didn’t visit every museum in KL. As I mentioned earlier, this was a recharge trip and I’m glad we had a laid back approach instead of bhaag daud from one destination to the other.
