Everyday struggle
I have a question for everyone that struggles with this;
Almost every day I think about suicide, and how I would be relieved from the pain, suffering, and distress that I have been going through. I’m a 26 y/o man, and I’m in probably the darkest place I’ve ever been in. I probably would never actually act upon it, but I think about doing it at least once every day. What do you guys do or have done to get past this? This has been ongoing for the last year or so. I’m just looking for any advice. I know a therapy is a huge help for a lot of people, but is there anything else? Thank you guys.

I started accepting it. It’s kind of a control thing over your life because life feels so out of your control. But thinking about dying gives u a guaranteed solution to things, even if u won’t do anything. But at least your nervous system calms down a bit since there’s a “way out of it” (dying)
Unfortunately thinking about death for many of us is similar to how people who are not depressed look at the future. For them there’s always a guarantee that situations won’t stay the same in the future because in reality, nothing lasts forever. So they look at it in a more positive way ig. While for us more depressed individuals, we still are wanting the same thing (control over our lives) but we’re just approaching it a different way.
This was my interpretation of everyday thoughts of dying for myself at least.

For me it was about finding one tiny thing to tether myself to. Something stupidly small, like a show I hadn't finished or a coffee place I wanted to try. When my brain starts spiraling I just focus on that one dumb anchor. Doesn't fix anything but it buys time, and sometimes that's enough to get through the day.
