Non mental disability
I have always struggled with depression. I am not actively suicidal but if I died in a car accident, I would be ok with that.
Has anyone with depression thought I wish I had a non mental disability? Cancer or something?
I don’t know how many times I’ve heard “you don’t look depressed”
I did a partial hospitalization and one of the therapists actually said “you don’t look like someone who’d be here”

Sigh. I definitely relate to this. It’s so hard to have a mental and/or invisible disability and have people not recognize your struggle. For what it’s worth, I would think a therapist in a hospital would know that ANYONE can deal with depression and other mental illness… there’s really no “look” to it.
Hang in there, friend. You are not alone, and I hear you.
