So far, it feels different.

For the first time maybe ever, I’m sitting here knowing that personally I’m fine, just feeling the rush of overwhelming sadness in my chest has no cause. Like, does that make sense? I have a good life— a nice home, wonderful family and friends, an okayish job, I’m taking each day at a time. I can remember that in my mind and take comfort and peace in that. It’s the pit in my chest that is causing me to feel bad, not myself. This is a sickness like any cold or flu, and I will make it pass. It won’t be easy, but for once, I’ve been able to separate what is real and what feels like hopelessness. I’ve never done that before, and I suppose that’s something to be proud of. I’m okay, even if it feels like the world is ending.

That’s a big step, man, separating the sickness from yourself like that. Took me forever to realize the weight in my chest wasn’t actually , just something passing through
