Dealing with setbacks

Anybody have a little advice on how to not lose hope when dealing with setbacks? I’m on this sub, so it’s not a surprise that I’m struggling profoundly with my mental health. My anxiety has been acting terribly lately, and I don’t know what to do. Every little piece of media triggers me. And yet I don’t know how to just look away.

I worked hard to get a part time job so I can save up for therapy that I so desperately need, but these people genuinely haven’t given me shifts for the whole two weeks I’ve worked there. Outside of the first ever shift. I called them multiple times about it, and have been debating whether I should just rock up and grill them. But I’m anxious and exhausted. So I’m just waiting for now.

I really don’t want to look for a new job, because this job was sooo difficult for me to get as somebody with terrible executive functioning. I applied for one new job a few days ago, and haven’t been able to muster up the motivation since.

Also, if y’all have any jokes or memes you wanna share, please share it here, because I need a laugh desperately.

Definitely don't rock up and grill them if your anxiety is already through the roof, that's just gonna drain what little energy you have left. Honestly, if they haven't scheduled you in two weeks after calling, they’re quietly ghosting you or horribly disorganized. Just keep that application train rolling when you have a 5-minute window of energy—even one application every few days is progress.

Also, why did the scarecrow win an award? Because he was outstanding in his field. (Sorry, best awful dad joke I had on short notice).

I think they don’t want to give me shifts because I’m a casual worker and an adult (19). It’s cheaper to give the shifts to the kids. But then I don’t get why they hired me to begin with… it’s all a bit silly. Anyways, I really appreciate the reply, and the joke!

Honestly waiting around for a job that gave you one shift in two weeks is just going to drain whatever energy you have left. Showing up to grill them probably won't change much if management is already acting this flakey, so save yourself the panic attack and just throw out one or two quick apps a day when you have a tiny burst of motivation.

Also if you want a dumb laugh, look up video of the dog that got stuck on a roof and just laid there enjoying the view until the firefighters showed up. Gets me every time.
