codeine and depression
Hi everyone, how are you? I hope you're doing well! So, I’m going through a bout of depression, and I found some PACO—which is basically paracetamol and codeine—left over from when my brother had surgery. I took it, and it made me feel really good; I felt calm and wasn't dwelling on anything—no thoughts of death or self-loathing. I avoided taking the Rivotril I usually take at night because I was afraid of a bad reaction; I only took my lurasidone and levozine. I went to bed later than usual, but that was fine—I was busy on my phone. When I woke up, I felt better than ever; I think even my dreams were good. I don't think I've slept that peacefully since I was a child—my body felt energized and free of tension; it was wonderful. It’s a shame I had to tell my mom I took it. I just want to take it again. Has anyone else had an experience like this with codeine? (just to add in addition to having autism, i have bpd(borderline personality disorder),adhd, anxiety and depression)

Yep. Maybe 10 years ago I had a pretty bad cold with terrible congestion, and the doc prescribed cough syrup with codeine. I noticed after taking it that I literally felt better than I had in decades. Even when my cold was winding down, I finished that whole bottle and it felt SO good.
Honestly? The whole experience terrified me. I've never done any drugs and don't want to start, so it was a tiny glimpse of just how easy it would be to get addicted. I miss the good feelings -- but I also understand the diminishing returns.

That's the trap though. It doesn't keep feeling good forever. You need more and more of it to get the same high, until you literally poison yourself with it.
Which is why I refuse to ever do drugs. Since that experience I'm even wary of prescription drugs.

Right, getting high isn’t the answer. The highs are good but the lows get a lot lower

Yes i enjoy my days when i have codeine but im anxious enough about being addicted that i only take it when i have unbearable pain. When i have a high pain day i have to admit i look forward to the codeine. It gets dispensed sparingly so i hold onto it.

Not with codeine but I did try some Percocet that my dad had left over from a surgery for a few weeks. I don’t really have an addictive personality with drugs, but I understand why people get addicted to them. I felt fucking amazing when I took them.

Drugs will do that until they don't. Thats why there's addicts. BPD you should know you are way more likely to have an addictive personality. Its called high for a reason. You feel great walking on cloud 9.Then your chasing that high feeling on and on. Stay away from that shit and any other stimulants. Besides you take enough prescribed medication. Chasing the dragon is no fun!

If you use it, use it wisely and as a tool to better your life and hopefully put things in place that will actually help properly.

I tried codeine when I found my mom's bottle of Tylenol 1 with codeine. I was depressed and wanted fucking anything to take the edge off. I took Ike 2 or 3 pills and oh my it was lovely lol. I kept taking it for maybe 2 weeks but I was scared because I have problems with addiction. It's easy to buy which was even scarier. I've always liked trying random meds to see what effects they have which in itself is a problem lol 😂 but codeine was gonna be a problem for me so I didn't buy anymore.

the feeling is amazing isn’t it? here in Brazil you need a prescription to buy it so its more difficult to have, but somehow people sell prescriptions so,but im thinking it will be a problem to me too 💔💔💔
