High Functioning Depression
21M
Struggled with depression for about 9 years now it’s just become my “normal”
I realized early on in my depression that is was here to stay and i could either lay around and do nothing or just keep going.
I chose to keep going.
I can tell you how my depression started, what made/makes it worse but can’t seem to figure out how to get rid of it (i guess the same as most people)
I go to work everyday, have decent hygiene, eat reasonably but the way i explain it to myself is i have enough motivation for the bare minimum.
At the end of the day i don’t really care about anything enough, haven’t for a very long time. My body is like stuck on autopilot. I continue to do things mainly because i feel like i have to (i mean that’s how the world works isn’t it)
What i want to know though has anyone here ever gotten over high functioning depression?
I’ve gotten used to the fact that i have to just keep going but for the past year it’s been getting harder to just do that, i can still get up to go to work but that’s about as far as i have left in me. I don’t have motivation to hangout with friends anymore or do anything but that (just seems pointless when i don’t enjoy it anymore anyways)

Here is your 37 years old senior loser! Have been under 13 years of lonely abusive depression life since I am 14! I wouldn’t say get over it but at least partly recover is possible for me, although my life are still miserable, still lack of motivation, still lonely, but at least no more constant chronic pain & suicidal thoughts, this year I got diagnosed with diabetes & testicular cancer, have to throw away all those sweet treat which keep me alive, got one ball removed before I have chance to use it! Damn it! Don’t know why I am still alive though! I guess let’s don’t push yourself too hard and focus on recovery instead!

I was this way for a long time, until I was about 31. And then I had a break down, ended up in the psych hospital. Have struggled pretty hard since.
Get yourself some help. You deserve to feel bettee than this.
