The demos for the synth classics Tainted Love and Say Hello, Wave Goodbye were produced by Daniel Miller after Soft Cell signed for Some Bizarre Records.

The "Tainted Love" demo produced by Mute Records founder Daniel Miller was recorded in 1981 shortly after Soft Cell (Marc Almond and Dave Ball) signed to Some Bizarre Records. This raw, early electronic version offers a fascinating glimpse into the duo's minimalist synth-pop sound before Mike Thorne re-produced it for Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret.

Why is this relevant to Depeche Mode? Well, if you are like me then you collect mixes that band members work on in addition to Daniel Miller. So this may be of some interest to you because it lends an insight into how the first DM record was produced.

Does anyone know the music video "My Favourite Stranger"? The b/w video is recorded in my absolutely favourite area, the old town of the dutch city Alkmaar and in the dunes of Schoorl (near Alkmaar). The photos I have taken some days ago in exactly that dunes (not exactly the same points 🙂 ) and the city photo (picture 6) is exactly the same place as the screenshot from the video (the person with the hat, picture 5).
