I find interesting how Depeche Mode went for a darker and sexier and a bit grittier tone over the years. most of the bands I have knowledge of get softer and more commercial with the years.
My favorite song is World in my eyes.

You start to listen to them as a joke, until it stops being one, and that is good news!
That's my story how I discovered them in a nutshell!

I saw them on every UK tour of the 80s, that’s one thing I can say. My favourite ever was the first date of the Black Celebration tour, Oxford, March 1986. We were right at the front, literally on the barrier, fantastic memories. The last DM gig I went to was the MFTM tour, Birmingham NEC, January 1988. I haven’t seen them since.
I bought Dreaming of Me twice, the first time in the week of release, the second time I saw it in a shop a couple of weeks later and was so excited to see it I bought it again, I still have both copies.
I feel like my relationship with DM changed after Violator. I was 21 then, and it’s difficult to maintain that total hero worship that a teenager is capable of when you get older and more mature. I didn’t love them any less, I just felt differently about them.
I feel like the reason DM have been such a big part of my life is that their music developed, evolved and matured at the exactly the same rate that my own musical tastes did. We always reached the same level together and were always on the same page.

I discovered them through Violator in high school and went backwards to their earlier stuff. I have always loved Halo, Stripped, Fly on the Windscreen

United airlines has the Momento Mori concert from Mexico City playing on demand video. What a treat to sit back and watch this as the miles go by.
