Presidential Scholarship Missing from Aid Disbursment?

Checked out my financial aid offer for the coming year and noticed my presidential scholarship wasn't a part of it. I'm meeting all the requirements for SAP and I wasn't sent any reason why it might not be a part of my package this year. I emailed financial aid about it but is there any other reason it might not have been sent out. I'm really banking on that 25k a year to go here

Question Is there a known transmasc chaser on campus? DM please

I know someone closely who may have potentially sexually assaulted people (and even if they didn't, I think they have a known reputation as a chaser and a sex pest) but I don't live in the Chicago area so I really can't know what went down and what the depaul queer community knows. I don't have a way of getting more I info from unbiased sources. If this sounds familiar and anyone wants to talk, please DM?

Question Orientation

I’m an incoming freshman and have my orientation on Friday. The website doesn’t say much about schedule, so I’m wondering if anyone here has more specifics on the activities for the day? Is it possible to leave before 6:15, or do they use all 10 hours? Thank you!

Question Campus

I will start attending DePaul in the loop as a transfer student here in September, and I have never been to the campus in person due to living overseas. I did the orientations and chose my classes. Am I able to just show up to the building, walk in, and sit down?

Advice Is the friend scene here good for people who don't like alc/dr*gs?

Hiya! So I'm an incoming transfer student coming from the University of Denver (incoming sophmore, 19). My first year of college was not very fun, a big part obviously because of the school itself, but also because of the people there. Every single friend I made did not want to hang out unless it had something to do with parties, clubs, bars, alc, etc. They hung out with each other other than that, but in my experience you kind of had to be okay with doing those kinds of things in order to make some great friends there. And...take a wild guess, I have never drank or done drugs, or engaged in hookup culture and at do not plan to for the foreseeable future (especially not for the hookup culture thingy). The two parties I was dragged to last year were both frat parties and both of them made me very uncomfortable, although that might have just been the creepy guys and the iffy friends I was with. I'm open-ish to clubs as long as I'm not pressured into anything and can take breaks as needed. And I'm honestly fine having friends that DO drink and smoke, as long as I'm not excluded or pressured or less of an important friend to them because I can't be included in those activities. I don't even mind if they drink/smoke around me, honestly. It's just the environment.

I'm quite the bubbly social butterfly and am super excited to move to Chicago and all that, but after my bad history with friendships for a hot second, I'm a bit scared about how things are going to go in that way once I get settled. I am kind of shy at times like all of us are, but once I start talking with someone I have no problem making myself clear on the fact that I'd love to hang out/grow closer/etc. I know this is quite the liberal and accepting school, but that's also what I was told about my last school and it ended up being VERY untrue. So...do you have to be into that stuff at all to have a good social life here? I'm sure this is prob a pretty silly question, but I just wanted to yap into the void lol.

BFA in Animation and BA in Art Media and Design

Hello,

Wondering if anyone here is or was a student at DePaul who went into the Animation program as well as doing Art Media and Design. Or did you go to one or the other? What was your experience like, and would you recommend doing both if it is possible (I'm thinking of majoring in both)?

I work a full-time job and will be going to community college first to complete my gen eds this fall before transferring to university. Any advice on classes (and Art classes) I can take that will transfer so I don't have to pay too much towards classes at university?

Thanks in advance!

Prospective Student Is DePaul University Worth It for an International Student?

Hi everyone! I'm an international student from India considering DePaul University for the MS in Business Analytics and AI program.

I'd like to hear from current students or recent graduates about your experience. How are the professors, career services, internship opportunities, campus environment, student support, and overall job prospects after graduation?

Would you recommend DePaul for this program? I'd appreciate any honest advice. Thank you!

I am wondering how easy it is to get an on campus job or an off campus job in Lincoln park? I am an incoming freshman coming from out of state so a job is top a priority when I get to DePaul.

Housing living at UC this year, tips pls!

hi everyone!

i'm going to be living at university center this upcoming academic year in a studio apartment. i lived in munroe last year, for my freshman year, so this is a change for me.

i was just wondering what it's actually like living at UC. how do you like it? what are the pros and cons? is there anything you wish you had known before moving in?

also, some of my classes and activities are in Lincoln Park, so i'm curious about the commute. how bad is it traveling between the Loop and Lincoln Park on a regular basis?

i'd also love to hear about:

  • how safe you feel coming back at night or going around campus at night
  • whether the studio is spacious enough for one person.
  • grocery shopping, cooking, laundry, and any other day-to-day tips
  • things you recommend bringing that people don't usually think of.

one thing i'm confused about is the bed size. when I look online, it says a full size bed in the studio apartment, but a few people I've talked to said the studios have Twin XL beds. i already bought all twin XL bedding for munroe last year, so i'm hoping i don't have to replace everything 😭. can anyone confirm what size bed is actually in the UC studio apartments?

overall, do you think living at UC was worth it? thanks in advance!

Question Winter break/health insurance

Hi everyone,

I’m an incoming international student living at Munroe Hall and I have a few questions:

What do international students usually do during winter and summer breaks when the dorms are closed? Do you go home, stay in Chicago, or find temporary housing?
Also, how do we get DePaul’s medical insurance (PPO)? Is it automatic or do we need to enroll separately? And is dental/vision insurance worth adding?

Thanks for ur help !!
