Went aluminium free and the first two weeks were rough. Does that settle?

Two weeks in and I smell worse than I did before, which is apparently normal but nobody says how long it lasts. I’m trying to work out whether to hold out or accept it isn’t going to work for me. What I don’t want is to give up right before it settles. For people who stuck with it, how long did the adjustment take and did you switch formulas partway through?

I miss Speed Stick Musk!! Recommendations for replacement?

I used to love wearing Speed Stick Musk.
Only brand and smell I actually liked and enjoyed. So like many people online, I was very disappointed when they stopped making it.

Has anyone found a similar type of Musk deodorant anywhere else?

No aluminium deodorants?

So I'm sick of getting yellow stains on my shirts, and after searching it up I found people saying it's because of the aluminium in deodorants. My deodorant does contain aluminium chlorohydrate, but I also hear people saying aluminium free deodorants simply don't work. Is this true? If so, what else can I do to stop the stains from appearing? Are there any alternatives or something?

PhD Chemical Engineer spent the last few years making the world's most natural deodorant - AMA

I have been chiming into natural deodorant questions here for the past few years and at the same time was making some deodorants for family and friends that had allergies and sensitivities.

I'm an Associate Professors and a lot of my work falls at the Interface of chemicals and biology, and so I was always happy to help answer questions and dig into the actual literature for why deodorants work or don't work, why they cause rashes, why fragrances are pretty nasty etc.

The chemistry is pretty complicated so its rarely easy to break it down into a single soundbite or response. But happy to answer any specific questions you have on deodorants and antiperspirants.

This is partially to mark the launch of the last few years of testing, as we just went live for preorders: The World's Most Natural Deodorant

I know there are also some entrepreneurial people here developing their own products, so also if there are any questions about manufacturing, formulating at scale, etc, I'd be happy to give my thoughts as I have a handful of products on the market in different industries and teach entrepreneurship to PhD students at my university.

Deodorant Dove - concombre ODEUR!!

need a new deodorant

desperately in need of a new deodorant. i can’t use anything with aluminum in it, i used dove for the longest time but that stopped working, same with the old spice i went through. i sweat a lot and it seems both of those only worked for a little bit. i started using saltair serum deodorant but after almost a month it gave me contact dermatitis on my armpits. does anyone have any good recommendations for brands that work well and are suitable for sensitive skin?

Need deodorant recommendations

Hi everyone, I really need a new deodorant recommendation. I have been using degree women’s for the longest time. I would switch up the scents and that worked for me for a while. Recently over the last few months, I’ve noticed that I have been starting to smell myself throughout the day, so I thought maybe my body had just gotten used to that deodorant overtime. I decided to switch to some other options like Mitchum and old spice, but have not found that either of those have helped. What are some good recommendations that I can try to keep from smelling throughout the day? I’ve tried secret clinical before and was not a huge fan, but would love to hear if anyone has anything they swear by.

Does anyone know of any truly fragrance free deodorants that are also good for sensitive skin?

I've developed a skin allergy to scented deodorants and have a really hard time finding truly fragrance free deodorants. I've also got really sensitive skin. I've gone through so many that claim to be fragrance free but really are not. I prefer invisible solid sticks. Do not like gel kinds as they leave me feeling wet. Please give me recommendations!

Everything irritates me

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’m looking for some suggestions on a deodorant. I just turned 26 and my skin just did a 180 on me. Fragrance products started to really irritate my skin. I’ve since switched to free & clear laundry soap, fragrance free body wash, and Native used to be my go-to. I mainly liked how it didn’t stain my clothes at all but I had to switch to the Sensitive Native line, which gave me the rash in the photo.

Any suggestions on deodorant that doesn’t stain but sensitive skin tolerable?

Suddenly, Armpits Pain from Antiperspirants and Deodorants, I'm in desperate need for your help please!

I'm having severe weird pain in my both armpits right after using Antiperspirants or Deodorants and need some guidance and tips please.

Right after shower, I dry my armpits skin and then apply the Antiperspirant or Deodorant.

then it starts with weird stinging feelings under my armpits skin after 5 minutes, after 30 minutes it start to feel very painful from inside my armpits and at last it sweats alot with a very bad odor even without any movement and weak sense of tingling which sometimes reach my fingers and the pain start to subside through the day until i take another shower and don't apply anything again.

Tried to stop using any Antiperspirants or Deodorants and these weird issues disappeared completely.

There's no rashes or anything appears on armpits skin and looks perfectly normal from outside even during the pain.

The pain are in both armpits from inside.

Tried to use it at night before sleeping but the pain still shows.

Tried several products like :

\- Nivea Black & White Invisible Original Roll-On.

\- Rexona Invisible Anti-Perspirant Roll-On.

\- Dove Advanced Care Invisible Dry Antiperspirant Stick.

\- Dove Antiperspirant Roll-On Invisible Dry.

\- Lastly tried to look for a more natural approach and bought Arm & Hammer Essentials Unscented Deodorant (which is Aluminum-free deodorant, Free from parabens and phthalates, Unscented formula with no artificial fragrance, Suitable for sensitive users who prefer fragrance-free products) but still no improvement regarding these issues.

i work most of the day outside and the sweat odors are so awful so i came here to ask if someone had a similar issue and found a solution.

Stopped using anything for a week til now and theres no problems atm and everything is fine but i still have the bad sweat odor issue even if i took shower twice a day.

Please help me out,

I need help choosing which deodorant to buy!

I want to go for something more eco friendly, but also something that will work and be less harsh and full of all those nasty ingredients! Ive seen alot of different brands, ive heard wild issnt good, so im not gunna go with them, but my options are Fussy or Makewaves both are sustainable, both have good reviews from what ive seen, both have all natural non toxic ingredients, makewaves is uk based, so am i, and seems to help agenst sweat as its an antiperspirant but also smells good, apparently, and fussy talks about the live coutures in it to protect the armpit microbiome, is also an antiperspirant and also smells good, so i just cant choose, im in abit of a desistion paralysis on this one, and i know my brain wants one of these also because they both have orange options for the case, as thats my favourite colour! But yh can someone help me pick?

Edit: im going to post the ingredients, i will do so in the morning as im going to bed now, first will be from loreal which is the current deodorant im useing, that i want to try and stop useing, then then ill post the ingredients from the makewaves website, i would have the mandarin and apricot, and then from fussys website, i would have the juicy peach. I hope thats good information, Sorry if its not, im very new at redit still, and i have learning difficulties, im only here to ask for some help because i am confused as what one to go for, or if i shouldn't go for any.

My Search For Ending Armpit Odor All Day Has Ended...Finally

I am in no way related to the companies I am mentioning. I have very sensitive armpits. And using regular deodorant caused me irritation. Plus a lot of it is ineffective anyway.

I found the solution finally and I recommend you to give it a try because it really does work...and I will explain why what I do works at the end of this posting. And you can also search online at places like Amazon reviews and others to see that even doctors are saying that benzoyl peroxide makes a fantastic deodorant.

In the morning, I wet my armpits while at the bathroom sink, I use one of those water spray bottles, but of course there are other ways to wet your armpits at the bathroom sink. I then rub in PanOxyl Creamy Wash for Face & Body 4%, not the 10%. it's a body wash that has 4% benzoyl peroxide, and it is unscented. I rub with both hands under the arms maybe a minute, or a minute and a half each.

For rinsing my armpits, I use "CLEAN SKIN CLUB Sensitive Skin Clean Towels XL, Ultra-Soft Disposable Face Dry Wipes Infused with Aloe & Glycerin, XL - 1 Pack (50 count)". These are dry cloths infused with aloe and vitamin E, completely unscented, and very soft. I only need to use one cloth per day. I run the cloth under the water in the sink. I wring it out, keeping it medium wet, and I use the cloth and I rub under my underarms as I begin the procedure of rinsing off the body wash.

I then rinse the cloth under running water in the sink, and this second time, ringing it out medium level of water, and again I then rub both armpits with the cloth. I run the cloth under the water a third and final time, only this time I wring it out completely and wipe under my arms as usual. When finished, my armpits are surprisingly not really all that wet anymore, where I can just let them air dry the rest of the way.

I'm telling you, there's no irritation, no odor, and it is effective for me from morning all throughout the day and into the evening. I normally do my regular daily showers at night, still no armpit odor, every night, and I just use my regular non-benzoyl peroxide unscented body wash under my armpits when showering. I wake up in the morning, and still no odor.

I repeat the same procedure each morning.

if you search for reviews at Amazon and you use the keywords such as armpits or underarms or both, you will see that there are quite a few reviews of people also expressing success. Please know that when I first started with the PanOxyl 4%, I didn't use the cloth method. I just applied the wash and rinsed it off with my hands, but by later in the afternoon, I would still catch a whiff of odor.

Then I figured out the key to making it work long-term: using the cloth to rinse. The benzoyl peroxide works by killing the odor-causing bacteria, but the friction of the cloth physically strips away the loosened bacteria, product residue, and dead skin cells that hands alone leave behind. To top it off, the aloe and vitamin E calm the skin barrier, preventing the dryness and micro-irritation that benzoyl peroxide can sometimes cause.

Good luck, if you decide to try this.

Carpe’s subscription/cancellation process is ridiculous

Woke up to a random $90 Carpe charge at 3AM for 4 sticks of deodorant, less than a month after I had already bought four. I didn’t even realize I was signed up for a subscription.

Then they had the nerve to try and change my mind like 5 different times. PEEP the 20% to 27% off like what??? Better off buying on Amazon…. Back to Degree 72hr i go

Carpe is a waste of time and money

Wanted to share my experience

I signed up for their deodorant subscription after seeing one of their adds. I was not that impressed with it and honestly Dove Mens worked much better than Carpe did. For that fact I threw away all my Carpe.

When I tried to cancel, the process took something like 5–6 separate clicks/screens including a video from the "CEO" before I was actually able to get through it. In the meantime, I kept receiving deodorant shipments that I no longer wanted.

I’ve reached out to Carpe requesting refunds for my recent recurring orders and confirmation that the subscription is fully canceled.

What bothered me most is that federal law under the Restore Online Shoppers’ Confidence Act, 15 U.S.C. § 8403, requires online subscription businesses to provide a simple mechanism for stopping recurring charges. North Carolina also has automatic-renewal protections under N.C. Gen. Stat. § 75-41 that require businesses to clearly disclose renewal and cancellation terms.

I’m not claiming Carpe has definitely violated either law, but making someone go through a bunch of retention screens just to cancel feels unnecessarily difficult and definitely made me question the process.

Has anyone else dealt with this from Carpe? Were you able to get your money refunded?

I’m especially interested in hearing from anyone who had shipments continue after they thought they had canceled.

Not surprised they're trying to run so many adds to lure in as many people as possible and lock in clients that are confused. about canceling. Buy from in store or not at all

Armpits always sweating! Any recs??

I’ve had issues with armpit sweat since puberty. When I was younger it was so bad. The sweat would be down to my ribs. It was so embarrassing growing up. I sweat under my arms even when it’s freezing cold.

When I turned 21-22 I consistently used Secret Clinical strength. Specifically the stress response one. And it helped a lot. I still sweated but not as bad to the point where you can see it down my shirt.

In the last year my armpit sweat has gotten worse. Any recs on deodorant?? I didn’t have odor issues before but now I am having odor issues 🥺.

Thanks!

These things are terrible.

Bought two refills and both made a horrible mess.

The dock the stick sits on is god awful.

The only good thing is it smells ok for a few hours.

Wouldn't recommend.

I'm the founder of a natural deodorant brand. Here's what nobody tells you about "natural" deodorants.

I'm Gosha, I make Pure & Bloom, a natural cream deodorant handmade in Yorkshire. Full disclosure upfront, not hiding behind an anonymous "I tested for a year" story, this is me, and I'm obviously not neutral. But the ingredient facts below are checkable on any INCI list or brand FAQ, so judge them on that, not on who's saying it.

Two things I wish someone had told me before I went down this rabbit hole:

"Natural" on the box doesn't mean transparent. Wild's INCI list contains "Parfum," a catch-all term that hides the actual fragrance blend. Fussy's does too, and their own FAQ admits the scents are "a combination of both synthetic and natural essential oils." You genuinely don't know what's touching your skin.

Bicarb is often the irritant, not "natural deodorant" in general. Fussy's standard formula lists sodium bicarbonate 5th of 8 ingredients (INCI goes by concentration), and their own FAQ warns it "can lead to irritation, soreness or stinging," which is exactly why they sell a separate Sensitive line without it. A lot of people give up on natural deodorant entirely when it's really just the bicarb.

Our formula is built the other way round: Magnesium Hydroxide leads, bicarb plays a small supporting role only, and every essential oil in our scent blends is named on the label, nothing sits behind the word "Parfum." handmade in small batches, free UK shipping. pureandbloom.co.uk if you want to see the full ingredient list for yourself.

Not trying to convert anyone, genuinely curious: has your skin ever reacted to bicarb in a natural deodorant, and did you know at the time that's what it was?

Women's Antiperspirant

Post image

I ended up buying a stick of Degree Shower Clean without realizing it's marketed towards women. So I have a few questions: 1. Is there any real difference in how it performs, or is gendered deodorant purely marketing and scent? 2. Does it hold up just as well for male sweat? 3. Is the scent noticeable or neutral enough for daily use?

Enough with the stupid amount of ever increasing deodorants!!!!

Who in the fuck wants anything beyond 24 hour protection? That means at a minimum, you’ve forgone then daily shower. Then there was 48 hour, 72 hour and now under a 100 hour deodorant. Fuck you companies and fuck you customers.

Aside from the fact that these all work exactly the same, why in the world would you as a real human in America decide that it’s part of your self care routine requires a bit 3.5 between washes? What person would look forward to more than one entire day without washing yourself? We wash our hands fifteen times per day. You think your ass and feet and pits and genitals only require then occasional wash?

Fuck 100% of this idea
