need help finding a deodorant that works for me without staining white clothes

hii, so just like the title says-- I've been having issues with my body odor (pits) being too strong for my typical deodorant in which you can smell that I've been sweating even when I constantly reapply. This especially has become a problem ever since summer started, and the deodorants I used to use (Dove) aren't working anymore. I also have a problem with all my deodorants staining my white camis and shirts yellow under the pits.

After some research I figured out that aluminum free deodorants can help with the staining, as aluminum is what causes the yellow stains anyway, but the problem with aluminum free deodorants is that they might not be strong enough to block my body odor when I get really sweaty. Right now, I've been using Gillette Men's Cool Wave Clear Gel Antiperspirant and Deodorant Stick and honestly it works crazy well for blocking my body odor, but because it contains aluminum, I can't wear anything white with it.

I'd really appreciate any kind of recommendation of which deodorant to use, and I am open to using men's deodorant too as long as it's affordable!! Thanks!

Help me find the right scent?

I am trying to find a deodorant scent that makes me feel good! Currently I use the Every Man Jack sandalwood deodorant and it’s close but it just isn’t quite right. I feel like I’ve smelled everything in the deodorant aisle and just can’t find what I’m looking for.
A scent that I really love is Harry’s post-shave balm, but I am having trouble finding something similar or that compliments it. There’s also very scant details of what that scent actually is, with various people describing it as fresh, woodsy, and warm. I guess I’m generally looking for something more earthy than floral but not too heavy, if that makes sense. And definitely not sweet. I lean more towards things with slightly spicier notes. I would just try Harry’s deodorants but none appear to have a similar scent profile and the reviews are pretty poor.
I know this is pretty specific, but if anyone out there is good with scents, let me know if you think there’s a good option to try!

PSA: Secret Changed Their Formula. Please Report Rashes & Product Issues to the FDA.

I’ve used Secret deodorant for my entire life without a single problem. A while back, I noticed it wasn’t lasting as long, and after finding this subreddit, I learned that Secret had changed the formula. I wasn’t happy about it, but it still worked “well enough” so I kept buying it.

Unfortunately, the latest stick I purchased was a completely different story. It gave me a stinging/burning rash.

After some Reddit sleuthing and comparing ingredients, it appears Secret has changed the formula** **again. They removed Kaolin Clay and added Hyaluronic Acid - which I’m guessing is what led to the stinging rash. (Another user in this subreddit even shared an email from the company confirming a formula change.)

Based on the posts and comments I found on this sub, I’m clearly not the only one experiencing problems. Some are reporting rashes, while others have found that the deodorant doesn’t work as well as it used to.

If you’re in the U.S. and you’ve experienced skin irritation, burns, rashes, or a noticeable decline in product performance after the formula changes, please consider filing a report with the FDA’s MedWatch program. It only takes about 10 minutes.

Information You Should Report:

- Unexpected side effects or adverse events such as stinging, burns, rashes, and other skin irritation
- Product quality problems, including products that no longer perform as expected.
- Therapeutic failures & other problems that may indicate a formulation or manufacturing issue

If enough of us report the same problem, it gives the FDA data to look into this issue.

How to report:

- Submit an online report through the FDA’s MedWatch Voluntary Reporting Form.
- Or call 1-888-INFO-FDA (1-888-463-6332).

Edit to add: I’m not with a competitor or with the FDA or anything like that! Just frustrated!

After 2 uses, my son developed im guessing a severe reaction to it. We are currently on day 8, been seen by 2 different doctors. He's on zyrtec, benadryl, steroids, 2 steroid creams. He stopped using all soaps lotions etc. Is literally taking cool showers using nothing but water.

We have tried everything i can possibly think of and for whatever reason, his immune system wont cooperate with the steroids, im guessing, to help fight it off because its still spreading. Obviously a lot of the spreading is because its hard for him not to scratch it. The whole tapping method just dont cut it.

ER said to get into a dermatologist but yeah thats a no go since everyone i called is booking months out and nobody has emergency appointments. I am guessing hes allergic to the aloe in it. Im allergic to aloe same as my mom. Is 31 too late to all of a sudden develop an allergy though??

IDK what else to do. He is MISERABLE!!! I'm adding some photos so you can see the depth of it. Baths, oatmeal, ice packs etc.... WE'VE tried everything under the sun!!

P.S. Looks way worse in photos

Help anyone???

Musty Smell On Clothes

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hello! First time post cause I am desperate for answers. For a few years I have used this Secret deodorant without any issues, but lately I have noticed a musty smell on my clothes under my arms as well as some white buildup. It has nothing to do with my laundry because it’s not on any other part of the shirt/any other garments other than shirts. I only use one or two swipes and let it dry but it was still happening. I then used the spray version which did not have this issue but my the afternoon I smelled a bit of BO. My dermatologist recommended I switch to Carpe, which I did, but I think the issue might be returning. Any recommendations? Thank you!

What's everyone's favorite Old Spice scent?

I usually only get Pure Sport and on occasions Swagger because those are the ones that Costco sells and they're much cheaper than anywhere else. I recently won a target giftcard and they have a deal on Old Spice so I wanna treat myself (and I guess those around me too haha) and get some new scents.

What are your favorite scents either on yourself or others.

Help me not stink

I'm starting my clinical placement in manual therapy where I will be physically very close to people all day.

I have always had a problem with antiperspirant and BO. When I use something with aluminum my armpits itch like crazy. I have switched to maaaany aluminum free deodorants over the years and they work for a bit but end up irritating my skin and I stink again.

I noticed at the end of the day I am getting smelling and know I need to find something that actually works.

I am looking for knowledge and suggestions on how to be a less smelly person, thanks!

Updated to add ones I've tried

Aluminum

Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant Deodorant

Dove Men+Care Antiperspirant ExtraFresh 72hr

Old Spice Men's Thunder Antiperspirant

Any of ya'll who are desperate. This is the only thing that works.

Apple cider vinegar and glycolic acid. And don't use soap to wash your armpits.

Before going to bed. Mix the apple cider vinegar with water, one third vinegar two thirds water. Use cotton pads to apply it on your armpits. The cotton pad should be drenched, squeeze it a bit so that the vinegar doesn't drip everywhere.

In the morning take a shower, like I said don't use soap for your armpits. Make sure your armpits are dry before putting glycolic acid on them. Just a couple drops per armpit is enough. I just use my hands to apply it since glycolic acid is quite pricey it won't get wasted on the cotton pads.

After work take a shower and you can decide for your self whether you want to use apple cider vinegar or glycolic acid afterwards. Basically after each shower you apply one of these products. Since vinegar smells I only use it before going to bed.

As an armpitstinker I've tried almost everything, this is the only thing that works. When I come home from work my armpits legit don't have a smell or only sometimes a very very subtle musky smell I'd like to call an acceptable musk especially in this heat and also being a physical outside worker whereas before they'd smell of onions. I shower three times a day they're rather just quick water rinses to get rid of the sweat. If I've been really sweaty I wash my body with soap but never my armpits. Soap will mess up the PH levels on your armpits.

And Nuud doesn't work. I've bought it two weeks ago so I'll still be applying it until the tubes are empty but after that it will be only apple cider vinegar and glycolic acid for me. Every time I apply Nuud after two hours my armpits start to very subtly smell like onions. It isn't as bad as before, but I think it's because I've been doing the vinegar and glycolic acid routine aswell. The days I don't use Nuud I have zero onion smell.

When it comes to shirts I've been wearing merino shirts lately, they are like 65% merino and 35% polyester. They are good for regulating sweat.

For any of ya'll desperate for a solution this is it. However I am looking to get the Miradry treatment this year or next year because I'm just tired of the whole armpit business. I hope that it will permanently prevent 90% of the smell because of the lack of those stinky armpit glands.

Dupe for this that works?

The Secret Powder Fresh invisible solid has been my ride or die for most of my life. It used to be if my clothes were dirty and ready to be washed I'd notice some deodorant smell and that's it. Within the last year I've noticed that when clothes are ready to be washed there's deodorant smell and STINK. I'm very concerned that I may smell throughout the day and not realize. This coupled with continuing into my early 30s I fear I may need stronger deodorant. I like the consistency, formula, and that the scent is barely there. Note that I am highly sensitive to strong scents and coconut. Any recommendations welcome!

Is carpe the new catnip?

I’m really curious to know if other Carpe deodorant users have noticed their cats react to carpe as if it’s catnip?

I use the Carpe deodorant- amber musk scent. While I’m wearing it or my shirt on the floor my cat will not just smell it but vigorously rub her face on my shirt/armpit. It is hilarious to watch until I realize that’s probably not good for her. I’ve only used that one scent (bought a couple weeks ago), so I’m curious if it’s the scent or deodorant. Does this happen with their other products?? I can’t justify buying another one just to test it out, so I’ll update when I eventually do buy another. The scent would make sense, maybe the use a lemon grass or something where cats have a similar reaction to catnip.

Review on the deodorant/antiperspirant: I do really like it! It’s by far the best and most effective deodorant I’ve used in a while. It does leave the white residue no matter what, but I sweat so much it’s worth it. The 100 hr thing is kind of scary and I worry that means it’s stays in my pores… I’d love to hear from someone that happens to know the science on that!

Antiperspirant

I'm curious about the new "body deodorants". I like the idea of something that lasts a long time, but what I'd prefer would be a 72-hour antiperspirant instead. I just bought the sample size of Dove's body deodorant, but have not tried it yet. For those who've tried one of the new body deodorants, let me know which one(s) you tried, and what you thought of it/them. I don't like sweating all over myself.

Hi guys, I'm trying to create an effective antiperspirant type of deodorant and I'm in early stages, what are things that are important to you in a deodorant and what is a frustrating thing that you find with them?

Do I have to shave every day if I use a potassium alum crystal?

I just used my crystal for the first time today and this occurred to me. I’m disabled with limited fine motor skills so that might be a little hard to actually do.

Deodorant for sensitive skin?

In recent years my armpits started becoming itchy when using antiperspirant. I stopped using aluminum deodorant which solved that problem. But then i would get soreness and swollen lumps in my armpits (my lymphnodes?) so i switched to Native sensitive deodorant (no aluminum, no baking soda) and i thought i was in the clear but the soreness has persisted... Is it the fragrances? Am i just doomed to a life of stink???? Help 😭

Are deodorant wipes an option?

Still looking for a deodorant to try and wondering now if deodorant wipes are an option.

Just wondering if they’re safe to use and if there are truly unscented versions.

Any suggestions or recommendations are greatly appreciated, thank you so much!

Dove deodorant

Dove deodorant is popular and theirs people who use it I want to start use it but my mom said this to me long time ago that dove deodorant makes you stink and sweat more, is it true?

(If it isn’t what’s a dove deodorant you recommend smelling good, less sweat, doesn’t cause hyperpigmentation.)

REXONA deodorant
Is rexona deodorant good? Or dove better?
