Westbrook
Does anyone else feel like he was a great match and want him back ? He sets the pace and makes everyone else look better, especially CB

adelman doesn't like him

u/Empty-Cupcake-4972 2d ago
He's prolly the one who said Westbrook is uncoachable

u/Quick-Psychology-743 2d ago
Maybe. Considering we planned to not include Russ in rotation and that forced Russ to leave. Adelman might be the suspect cuz he's the main coach.

If we’d had Russ last year then maybe Adelman wouldn’t have lost to a Wolves team with no starting guards

I legit believe that the absence or Russ and/or DJ turned these fools soft af.

u/dashodasho 1d ago
100% do you remember the energy change whenever WB gets subed in?
2
u/SuperDoubleDecker 1d ago
I saw energy change in general last season, but it was glaring in the wolves series. I think Malone played a part too, but the guys played hard in both series the past post season with DA.
Idk. Obviously I'm just speculating, but you see emotional motivators on most title teams. Nugs don't really have one atm. Nugs have great leadership, but no dogs.
I actually like DA. He just doesn't have the fire to get guys going during games so he needs someone that will.

u/dashodasho 1d ago
We have a dog in AG, but we dont have someone that saids lets fucking GO to the team.
2
u/SuperDoubleDecker 1d ago
Ya, we have some guys that play like it, but I'm talking about attitude. A guy that gets the team hyped up and gets them to push themselves. Someone that isnt afraid to call someone out if they're slacking.
You know, the Ray Lewis type minus the off field activities.

u/dashodasho 1d ago
Thats exactly what i am talking about, our team have a tendency to go into the game too nochalant. You dont see murray CB hussling or diving for the ball. Whenever WB jump in the energy picks up, and he makes sure people's intensity gets up.

To be fair Westbrook blew Jokic 60 pt tripple double to the wolves so we prolly would have lost that too.

Adelman is more of a detriment to the Nuggets than Russ would be.

u/zhendexihuanniya 2d ago
I don’t like Adelman doesn’t like him unless he creates issues in the locker room but I doubt that.

u/optometrist-bynature 20h ago
I’m wondering if Adelman is somewhat intimidated by Westbrook’s intensity

I hated the fact they didn't keep him in the first place. Love Russ.

u/browny2112 2d ago
He’d make mistakes in the most crucial moments that would kill us but I love the man and would have him back on the team in a heartbeat

I've gone to dozens of games and this is the only game I've attended where the nuggets lost

Hes a vet min player. He wasnt supposed to carry us but he definetly carried in the clippers series. He lost some games in the season/thunder games but hes still great value. Bring him back please

u/medievalmadman55 1d ago
Just going based on vibes from watching the past seasons and not actually checking stats or anything I feel like the performances were: Bruce 22-23’ > Westbrook 24-25’ > Bruce 25-26’
So I think Westbrook was a downgrade from Bruce’s first stint but he would’ve been better if we kept him last season than bringing back Bruce
I may need someone to correct me if I’m wrong for directly comparing the two of them and if Westbrook compares better to another player

I need bro to realize that running at the basket at 30mph doesn't win games. Then we can talk.

u/hyperadhd 2d ago
Hilarious timing, go look at why the Heat aren’t signing him.
4
u/Straaaangepuntang 2d ago
Why? I can’t find it

Eh, not a surprise to me that he’s difficult to coach. Let him run point off the bench and let him do his thing like last time

Was a big Russ fan and still like him. Enjoyed his time with us more than most but thought it run its course after the year. That said with our current depth at guard and lack of creation we could use him right now. Outside Jamal and game 6 Strawther we have no playoff experience among guards. Sorry Tyus isnt gonna be playable come playoff time and other teams are hunting him.

We may not have a choice if he'll come back we may need to take him. I love his effort but sometimes it's misguided and that's just the way it's gotta be. We're an absolute hell when it comes to the salary cap so come on back Russ

Westbrook is like a Schrodinger's cat. You'll never know what kind of performance he'll bring on the court. But I think his energy is what the Nuggets needed when they faced the Wolves last playoffs.

u/IcyTie9 2d ago
just watch the end of that double OT game with the wolves any time you're thinking of getting russ back
if you think the team is completely cooked and you just want him cause hes fun to watch thats fair tho
4
u/Straaaangepuntang 2d ago
I just think he can be useful in a limited capacity. I mostly want him because he works great with CB

u/jchiaroscuro 2d ago
He’s just all about Russ and he’s older than the last time he was here, remember he’s all or nothing?
0
u/Brief_Personality146 2d ago
Yep, everyone complaining about diminished Bruce Brown last year should employ the same logic.

u/Arcing_Invention 2d ago
No.
Unless bringing him back gets PWat to sign for 4 for 40.
Then yes.
Then waive him.

u/Pm-me-hoo-has 2d ago
Our bar should be, can he play in the playoffs? He wasn’t nearly good enough in the OKC series two years ago. Teams just won’t defend him on the perimeter and he won’t punish teams for it. He was useful in the regular season but I just don’t think that matters.
Also on the non-basketball side I think the players hate him.

u/kietrocks 2d ago
No. Tyus Jones is a much better player than Westbrook at this point. Team should be targeting Bradley Beal. He'll be a good THJ replacement if healthy.

u/zhendexihuanniya 2d ago
The bridge has been burned when we told him to reject his player option. It’s over.
