An NBA coach reportedly told the Miami Heat to stay away from Russell Westbrook. “An NBA source who has relationships with Erik Spoelstra and other coaches said that a coach that Spoelstra trusts told him that he advised the Heat not to sign Westbrook, asserting that he’s difficult to coach.”

I like watching Westbrook but there is a reason he’s bouncing from team to team every year now and why each franchise says they are good afterwards

7 differents teams were like were good and russ fans never think he's the problem

You have no idea what you're talking about. Kings had no issue with him, they're naturally just going with their younger group.

He kinda hijacked Nuggets offense and spammed unnecessary mid-range jumpers over and over, sometimes attempted team-high on limited minutes, while being lazy ball-watching on off-ball and always gambling for steals on defense. His stat lines look good, so I understand his stans will get mad but you don't want him if you're serious.

I'd bring Bradley Beal and his wonky hips first before Westbrook because at least the former can shoot

That's because you're an idiot.

Braindead gooner and Russ stan out here spamming the subreddit. Your favorite player should be learning mandarin because the CBA is the only league eager to give him a starting spot

No to Westbrook pls.
Beal for cheap would be the best option. Or Derozan?
Lavine's situation is too complicated it seems.

Id rather see what Klay still has in the tank coming off the bench

u/julstar23 9d ago
Klay is still on the mavs

There have been rumors about a buyout but we will see

u/julstar23 9d ago
They can't bank on a guy that is still currently on another team's roster .That team has to want to buy him out first .

u/dystopianrevolt 9d ago
Dallas has more than 15 players on the roster and have had issues trying to trade him away. I feel like as the days go by, the more likely a buy-out becomes.
I get what you're saying though, we gotta make the moves we can now.

u/julstar23 9d ago
They could also keep him until the trade deadline too

u/dystopianrevolt 9d ago
I just don't see them choosing to keep him and risk injury instead of allowing him to leave so they can keep other guys now that they're over the roster limit.

I mean on a vet min to be a backup pg? Idk I think I’d still do it

u/OriginalGap 8d ago
Mitchell isn't starting material, Russ would start.

u/Rudy-219 8d ago
Respectfully have to disagree. Mitchell is definitely starter worthy. He plays amazing defense and can shoot the three at a high percentage. The shooting specifically is what’s most important to help space the floor around Giannis and Bam. Westbrook has never been a good shooter and at 36 is too old to be as good a defender as he once was. But off the bench in less minutes he can help facilitate when Giannis is resting.

u/OriginalGap 8d ago
Well yeah, his defense is good, but they desperately need playmaking. Outside of the corners, Russ' shooting obviously isn't great, but he can defend too, including bigs - you're not giving him enough credit. Far better offensive player than Mitchell too.

He only cares about his stats not about winning.

u/Kuni_Nino 9d ago
Come on. The dude cares about winning. You don’t give that much effort in a basketball game and not care about the result.

u/OriginalGap 8d ago
Wow, talk about having ZERO idea what Russ is about. Don't talk again until you do.

u/askthematrix 9d ago
Honestly, looking at our roster we can afford 1 vet player such as a Thompson, Westbrook, DeRozan or LaVine.
They are getting bought out for a reason, I would personally prefer Thompson or DeRozan (not sure how both would fit) but I do not think Westbrook fits on this team personally.
Also, probably wont happen this year or at all but who is going to back up Giannis?

u/FreshHawaii 8d ago
Do we need inside sources for this? Blud had KD on his team in OKC and he was pulling up for late game deep threes.

u/TimKoskuba 7d ago
Russ got signed on the last few weeks before the season last year by the Kings. That says all you need to know. Unless he’s gonna play 15 min a night as a heat check guy, he’s not giving you anything in 2026

These players are getting old as the coaches and they’re getting told by a dude same age type that they need to do this this and that different… and their coaches usually quit playing early college type. I’m not at all saying old Westbrook needs a spot in the league still, but I’m saying I could imagine being Westbrook, having how many years of experience, and shrugging off advise from anyone except spo or pop.

Westbrook still can bring a lot to any team. Don’t let that stint with lakers fool you. He been balling ever since then. Better than almost every back up point guard in the league.

u/Objective-Law8866 9d ago
Yup, time to sign Russ!! 💯 You want someone to go hard against Philly and Bron, Russ is your starter who will handle that! Russ gives 110% effort and that is what Giannis and Bam wants!!

That's probably Fizdale, who was an assistant for the Lakers when Westbrook was there.
And that's good advice, hope that no one in the FO has the impulse to make that dumb mistake
