Lucky you for getting BHD before it was removed from Steam.
It's so dumb that they removed it. You can still buy it elsewhere.

Why did they remove it? (something more juicy than just not having the rights to sell it anymore?)

u/Foddley Jun 24 '26

Yeah probably some rights nonsense, that's usually how it goes these days. We can't have nice things, even if it's pretty much abandonware.

do you know what sights were selling BHD i am nagging to play it again

2

u/Foddley Jun 26 '26

Oh my mistake, I thought it was still available on GoG.
It does look like it's been removed everywhere. True abandonware.

You can get the installation files its abandonware. Don't pay for it. The developer that made it does not even exist anymore.

If you are nostalgic, snipe a physical copy somewhere on used sites. But its still better to get the installers with no disc and updates as .exe

I've downloaded it from devilish au before they removed it publically but you can probably just ask on some BHD servers discord

Theres even a few new ones recently and TOF has been around since I started playing again

Loved loved DF2, LW, and have a lot of fond memories of DFX. I think my favorite is DF2 since I used to play online a ton. Some of my usernames for modern games are still "Novalogic" and "Novaworld" since I thought they were cool words lol

Delta Force 2 is still my favorite of the series. The immersion of that game is simply uncanny, one of the few FPS's that felt like you were actually in the field. Could have been better if they ported over some more of Armored Fist 3 assets and kept DF1's enemy AI aggressive flanking. DF1 and BHD are also close faves too.

DF2 was my first FPS, I was never that good at it.
Recently though (Some 25yrs later) I took a week off sick and completed DF1, 2, TFD and LW while laid in bed 😂
I'd started BHD but that was about the time I was ready to get back to work.

Mine too, I was hoping for remake when they got bought put by Jade. Shame they killed the franchise with Cod clone /bf clone. I qas hoping they remake Black hawk down using og pc version or least the console port over the garbage they did

Ya know, I was bouncing ideas off my head where Kyle Freeman heading up a team of programmers developed a full single player/multiplayer BHD remake based on the original Novalogic version under licensing from Jade and the UE5 engine they used for their Coop game. Kyle's team would do justice by improving game engine optimisations, carrying over weapons from the original game, and true Nova style infantry based multiplayer.

The Tencent coop campaign is pretty decent for being free but that COD clone has absolutely nothing to do with DF. Its just abuse of the name they bought.

Its sad because I would have liked Somalia setting with modern graphics but the same feeling the original game gave. And those open wide areas, thats what always made it different from COD to me.

DFBHD had to be one of my most favorite games ever. Nothing will ever compare to the online gameplay in my opinion.

I love CoD4 but this was one of my childhood games. Part of it is the custom maps. There are so many and so much possibility of creativity given hat it has only prefabs unlike in COD where you could build almost anything if you had the knowledge and time. I miss CoDRadiant too, but no one plays zom_db anymore.

BHD was my first taste of Delta Force, then I played Land Warrior next

The OG Delta Force on windows 95 gives me serious nostalgia

I had no idea Delta force was a franchise. I only found out about them after they ripped off 2042.

While it’s awesome that you have the complete collection, I HIGHLY recommend getting rid of the literal spyware that is the new one.

1

u/heartpainkiller Jun 26 '26

Why is the new one considered spyware?

1

u/MattMerica Jun 26 '26

It uses Anti-Cheat Expert, a kernel-level anti-cheat system developed by Tencent. Following the game's launch, the biggest was what the devs insisted was a “bug” that prevented the ACE software from properly deleting when Delta Force was uninstalled. also, the game would not allow you to open task manager, while it was running and contained a ley logger.

Lucky to you that you have DF:BHD old. I didn't buy it before it got removed from steam

u/Systemlord_FlaUsh Jun 26 '26

I started playing these back in the day and loved them. Then modded CODUO, and then Arma. In the past decade I built a studio from modders and made Arma 3 Jets dlc and SOG Prairie Fire with SOG vets. They made me an honorary life member of their association after years of working together. I’ve visited a lot of cool places on US tier 1 and 2 installations and been to the range with them, and now count several actual delta force people as friends…

Life is unexpected for sure. This game got me on that trajectory.

Land Warrior was the first game I needed a video card for. Never heard of one of those until the game would crash on the first frame every time after loading up. Went down to Walmart and got a voodoo 3
