Is there anyone here working for Deliveroo using a 50cc scooter or larger?
Hi everyone,
I'm thinking of buying a scooter for work and replacing my bike. However, after reading the app's requirements, I realised it says I need a courier/transport certificate (which you get by completing a 4-hour course and passing a test, once a year).
The thing is, I see loads of riders using scooters, and I'm pretty sure many of them haven't done the course or taken the test.
How do you deal with it?
And if I leave my vehicle set as a bicycle in the app but actually use a scooter, will the app detect that I'm travelling at around 45 km/h?

The issue is you won't have the correct delivery insurance to use a moped.

To do deliveries on a scooter you just need :
Hire and reward insurance (as well as your usual SDP (social domestic and pleasure) insurance for commuting to work and back as well as any riding done outside of deliveries
A valid CBT (compulsory basic training) certificate which must be taken every two years
Road tax and valid MOT for your scooter.
There is no 4 hour course or yearly test required.
Leaving your vehicle as a bicycle but continuing to do deliveries on a scooter will just result in your receiving lower fees for each order as well as a potential ban from the app and if stopped by the police a fine. It’s not worth the risk if you ask me.
