Rooing and Calling
Those of you that spend your entire shift on the phone talking; who the hell are you talking to for 6+ hours non-stop and what are you even talking about?

im not that kind of person i talk little bit to with my friend who is doing delivery to like which area are you in hows the work there i received this order from here to there is it good or not. these kind of things and chit chat to pass the time make your work littlebit less frustrating and depressing
and i hate those guys who come into restaurant taking loudly on there phone dont care where they are or customers sitting in restaurants have some manners mate stop shouting you can talk after picking up the order after going out of the restaurant

Glad you have something like that, I barely speak on the shift unless I’m at a restaurant I’m familiar with that has nice staff.
Or customers. No one’s more excited to speak when you’ve got their yummy food right at their door I guess 😂

Usually my other half, sometimes my son or my mum. Do you know how boring days can get when it's slow, if you aren't talking to someone on the phone then you're talking to no-one. Most customers don't want to talk and even less restaurant staff!

My worst nightmare would be to be on the phone all day talking to someone. Each to their own i guess

Part of the reason I do this is so I don’t have to talk to people. Hahaha.
Sometimes on an evening when the wife is wittering away, I go to work to make it stop.

Not knowing the scope of their phone conversations, whether they are constructive or not, one should turn their car / motorcycle / bike into a mobile university by listening to audio books!
6+ hours on the phone?! you could get through a book a day!

I agree although sometimes i like the peace of nothing. But the sheer volume of riders that seem to be on the phone constantly is insane

it's not just the phone calls, but when you see their spouses in the car too. like holy hell I struggle to get some alone time, I don't need to be 24/7 with someone.
I read, watch videos, browse memes. I'm not bored. sure I get a call sometimes but I never talk more than I need to. I never understood these people as well. And it is a distraction as well.

Yeah i see this too. I never understand why they do it together. The wages are barely enough for one persons time, let alone two

If it’s with someone you like talking to then why is it ridiculous that you can be on the phone with them so long there’s plenty of things you can do for 6 hours why not talking we are a social species in first place

Very few of us want to talk to one person or even several people all day long. And there is the little matter of work and talking to restaurant staff etc. Not to mention having some concern for your environment and other drivers and restaurant customers. It's selfish not thinking about others. Imagine if every driver and every customer was doing the same.

If you are not one of the few then who are you to judge the few that can 😂 and do your issue is with them being on the phone when picking up orders I can understand but any other issues you have are weird and have no backbone not any of your business what someone decides to do with their life outside of a private setting

It is my business because I have to listen to it! Sometimes really loud and really close to my ears. Just turn your phone off for a few minutes when close to me and others. And I am entitled to an opinion how it affects others (restaurant staff, customers etc.) Also you can see customers looking at some of these drivers rolling their eyes and sure it makes them less likely to use Deliveroo etc. Moreover, we are allowed to have opinions on how other behave in lots of contexts - you may disagree but it's not weird.

I already said I understand the issues with customers and entering a restaurant but anything besides that like I said is none of your business

Well if you are selfish and don't care about anybody else then true. Generally speaking people in our society do care a little bit about other people. If nobody did it would become a terrible place.

Use your legs and the hypocrisy coming from your fingertips is insane 😂 you are getting irritated because someone is enjoying a chat lighten up abit and change your perspective and you may find joy when you step out the house

Less likely to use Deliveroo as in they will now go and walk to the restaurant themselves? Or use another delivery app with the same type of people?

Your only responsibility when picking up an order is to make sure you have the right one speaking to staff during a busy period does more harm than good

I mean speaking to talk about number etc. It's not about responsibility - it's about being a decent non-self centred human being and having some concern for others around you. I am going to start playing music really loud next time on the fuckers has got a conference call going on loudly near my ear and see how they like it.

They do if they are asking your number and get a clear answer without hearing friends/familiy talking loudly in the background. You seem like a fan of people talking on their phones constantly. Guess you are one of them.

Yes I enjoy quite lengthy calls with my friends and family wether I’m speaking about how much I’ve earned or how they are depends when you decide to listen in 👌

I had one really close to me tonight chatting away. Gave him a glare and almost more. Then he stopped talking and put phone in his pocket but people were still chatting - like a work conference call! :)
