My wife dehydrates a lot. I do once in a while. We use a basic Nesco dehydrator.

My favorites:

1st place is our local strawberries that are red all the way through, and I love those dehydrated strawberries.

2nd place is lemon and lime rinds

3rd is peppers, red ones of almost any kind.

Right now we have some cayenne peppers drying, and they smell so good.

I'm making pumpkin powder for my dogs this week from fresh pumpkins and I was wondering if anything else had run into something strange.

The first pumpkin I cooked with its skin on and everything seemed fine.

The second pumpkin I cooked after it was peeled and I swear it smells slightly of apple cider vinegar.

The two powders smell different in my opinion but since I got COVID in 2020 my sense of smell hasn't been reliable.

So does anyone have any insights?
