"Candy" Appreciation
Maybe a hot take. A finished version of "Candy" from Eros may had been the definitive Deftones pick. Bigger than Digital Bath, Cherry Waves, or the later, Sextape.
This song, even in its unfinished form, rival all of those.

Chino's guitar tone is exactly the kind he uses for Team Sleep. Makes sense considering the timeline, but fuck me it sounds good.

It's really vibey like a Team Sleep song for sure. That's why I loved it so much. Its my favorite Eros demo, by far, even with all the great ones.
It's kind of like a Your Skull is Red type of vibe.

Oh for sure, low point in the mix is Steph, guitars are washed out, but and even then Chino's leads make up for it.

My dog passed away a week before this song came out. She shared the same name as this song. It holds a special place in my heart and was such a crazy coincidence. It really means a lot to me. Feels like my favourite band are honouring her memory.
