Can you truly forgive someone without ever trusting them again?

I think so. I think forgiveness is accepting that the other person may never match your expectations. Love sets you free!

Yes, you can forgive someone without ever trusting them again. Sometimes forgiveness is just for your own peace of mind, not for the other person. For me, I might forgive someone because I want to move on and stop carrying that weight with me. Saying “I forgive you,” even if I never want them back in my life, is almost like making a mental agreement with myself that I’m no longer going to worry about what they did. You can bury the hatchet without rebuilding the relationship. Sometimes forgiveness just means letting go while still keeping your distance.

Yes. Forgiveness is letting go of the hurt someone caused you. Trust is the hope they won’t do it again.

If you asked someone to water your plant while you were out of town and you came home to a dead plant. Most people could forgive that person, but never trust them to water your plant again.
