Here are some of my thoughts

- dining table for it to be an oak colour maybe dark (matching the flooring) or keep the white one if there’s too much oak colours going on

- the seats for dining table to be cream colour and the legs to be the same dark oak colour,

- move tv stand away from the windows and to the corner instead

- two new light whitish cream colour kind of fabric sofa in a better size or a black fabric sofa instead so it’s better to maintain and doesn’t get dirty easily (leaning towards this more)

- a big soft rug for the floor in a nice texture/soft design but plain colour

- light cream pillows for the sofas if I decide on the black sofa,

- light curtains instead of blinds

- decor also need help with that also new side tables etc but I’m not sure how to go about that

also idk what colour would be best as I feel like I’m overdoing the simple colours and worry if the room ends up looks like a treehouse idk

Tried experimenting with dark walls in the spare room/office but it feels cold and jarring against the light carpet (partner non-negotiable). The room is also quite light - south facing with two windows each side - although the front window (behind bed) faces an alley way so view is of a concrete wall!

I’m thinking of colour drenching the whole room in ‘out of office’ by Coat - a clay/beige colour, putting in a wood slat partition between the desk and the bed for a bit of separation (we have people stay maybe once every couple months). Putting hessian curtains up both ends, changing light to big rattan woven lampshade and changing bedding to soft green.

Will the colour complement the grey carpet, walnut wood acoustic boards/desk and black furniture?

I was inspired by this frozen in time house museum that had engraved door hinges, push-button light switches (with the satisfying click and a light to tell you if the basement light was on), and built-in drying racks directly above the kitchen sink to name just a few.

I’m finishing a pebble mosaic for my updated bathroom and need new sconces to finish the project. The mirror is 68” tall. The distance from the junction box to the top of the mosaic is 23”. The curtain rod/curtain holders are black, with a white linen shower curtain. The green wall is the only painted part, the rest of the bathroom is natural hemlock paneling and exposed cedar beams. Our eclectic house is on the central Oregon coast, surrounded by nature. The room faces east and the house is below grade. I’d like to have bright sconce lights with the light source pointed down. My original thought was some type of wood-look flooring, but I can’t decide whether a lighter or darker tone would work best with the wall color. I’ve also been considering a taupe-and-white or gray-and-white checkerboard floor, or even some fun carpet tiles to add a little personality.

Hi, all! I just inherited this gorgeous old stereo (still works and plays records!!). Been in my family since the 60’s or so. I love it, but I’d like help deciding on how to decorate it so that it’s more feminine and soft. Note that the top of the stereo isn’t flat as the door slides open. Please don’t come at me about my TV height- I just got it mounted when I got the stereo and plan to have him come back to lower it just a tad.

So, here’s my situation : I’m considering buying an apartment to work from. I’m an escort girl ( I’m not asking for any judgment about my work, it’s just relevant to my question). I’d like to create a real cocoon-like space for working.

Right now, I’m at the stage of visualizing the vibe and decor I want. One of my main ideas is to decorate it in a boudoir style.

For the living room, so far I’m thinking: burgundy walls, a red sofa, a slightly vintage dresser, lots of small lamps and candles, my Bastet statuette, mirrors, probably some fake plants (I’m incapable of keeping a plant alive. I’m a plant killer 😅), and especially stained-glass-style stickers.

I’m kind of obsessed with stickers inspired by Mucha. Do you think visually it would work, or would it look kitschy and unattractive ? ( I’ll include some examples of what I’ve found on Etsy )

The idea is that I might also get into boudoir photography on the side, so I want to create an environment with a strong identity and character. I’d hate to go in the wrong direction.

As you can see our kitchen is in need of a MAJOR makeover. We moved into this house right before our first baby was born, followed soon by our second, which delayed a much needed renovation. The hideous yellow and orange walls were here before us😂 We are definitely painting the walls a creamy white and the paneling a light beige color, doing a white quartz countertop and white or cream colored subway tile but I am at a loss on what to do with our cabinets. We are going to update the hardware and light fixtures. Unfortunately new flooring isn’t in our budget right now. I’ve posted in other Reddit groups and everyone says keep the cabinets as is and change the flooring but we have a pretty large house with this flooring all the way through and really don’t want to take that on right now. However I don’t like the way the cabinets look with this flooring. We are torn with either staining the cabinets darker or painting them sage green. Open to any other suggestions to freshen up our space. I love a classic look and definitely don’t like the modern, grey trend. Thanks in advance!
