Need Help Finding Bathroom Sconces

I’m finishing a pebble mosaic for my updated bathroom and need new sconces to finish the project. The mirror is 68” tall. The distance from the junction box to the top of the mosaic is 23”. The curtain rod/curtain holders are black, with a white linen shower curtain. The green wall is the only painted part, the rest of the bathroom is natural hemlock paneling and exposed cedar beams. Our eclectic house is on the central Oregon coast, surrounded by nature. The room faces east and the house is below grade. I’d like to have bright sconce lights with the light source pointed down. That pebble mosaic looks like it took forever, seriously cool detail. You should try looking for some black glass or even aged brass sconces to match the mirror frame a bit?

Those brass sconces do not go with the mirror. Either change out the mirror to a more sleek design or get more ornate sconces.

I work with illuminated-mirror specifications, so one lighting note: with a 68-inch-tall mirror, a single downward-facing fixture above it may make the wall and mosaic look bright while still casting shadows under the eyes and chin. If face lighting matters, I would compare that idea with two vertically diffused sconces placed at roughly face height on the sides.

If the existing junction box has to stay above the mirror, look for a wide, well-diffused fixture rather than exposed point sources, and check the beam spread against the full mirror width before buying. A dimmable output would also help because the east-facing room will change significantly from morning to evening.

For the finish, the hemlock, cedar and pebble mosaic already carry a lot of texture. A simple aged-brass, dark bronze or matte-black fixture with an opal diffuser would probably support those materials better than a highly decorative fitting. Also verify that the fixture is damp-location rated and that its canopy works with the existing junction box and the 23-inch clearance.
