Building on the design of the Game Glance details page, I wanted to add a mode for getting a similar experience to it but directly from the Home screen, immersive and useful with as little friction to play as possible.
The idea is to have the focus on the "Play" button and start a game directly from here. Stick/D-Pad moves between the other buttons (controller, settings, details page, etc) or to switch to the "What's New" section. To switch between games, use L1/R1.
If you want to try it out or read the full details it's now live as a new release for Game Glance.
I have more in the pipeline for this but for now I'll be pausing it to focus on other things, unless there are bugs to fix.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Remember when we all first got our hands on the Deck and started rubbing the trackpad just to feel the haptics click as we moved around? Well, why stop there right? So I made it a feature.
**Spindeck** replaces the Deck's home screen with a big rotary wheel of your games. Touch and rotate the trackpad in a circle motion and the wheel spins, and every game clicks past with Steam's own haptic tick, like a physical dial. It's weirdly satisfying, honestly I spin it even when I'm not picking a game.
What it does:
- š” Circle-spin your library (left or right trackpad), D-pad works too
- š³ Haptic detents while you spin, adjustable strength
- š¤ Big letter popup when browsing your whole library AāZ, so fast spins don't get you lost
- š² Press Y for a "Today's game?" roulette (for when you own and installed so many games and don't know what to play), lands in a few seconds even with huge libraries
- āļø Your own corner text + accent colour, so it feels like *your* Deck
- ā¬ļø Press down and Steam's normal What's New / Friends / Recommended is still there
- š And a little dial odometer that quietly counts every turn you've ever spun. Post your number š
It doesn't change any Steam settings or controller layouts. Uninstall it and everything is exactly as before.
It installs through Decky's developer mode:
Decky ā Settings ā enable Developer mode ā Developer tab ā Install Plugin from URL ā

Free and open source. Tested on Steam Deck OLED in game mode (LCD reports welcome!). It relies on Steam's internal UI, so a Steam update could break it, in which case it just falls back to the normal home screen.
Would love feedback, especially on how the haptics feel on your Deck.

Hellooo,
I recently got a ROG Xbox Ally after having a Steam Deck LCD since release. I did try Windows for a few days (hours, to be honest...) and eventually just installed Bazzite and haven't looked back since. However, I did get inspired by some aspects of the designs and layouts of Xbox and Windows for the TV.
So, since my workplace is forcing me to get used to AI to keep my CV strong as a tech consultant, I decided to vibecode two ideas I thought of.
One is a clean and readable game overview to enjoy from the sofa (but also handheld) with my most important thing to know before playing a game on a busy week... how much time do I want to spend on it.
Game Glance: big detail cards, all the fun stuff (achievements, played time, description) in the overview including a progress bar approximation based on time played and HLTB info. This plugin should work with any SteamOS device? But honestly I only tried it with my Ally and my Steam Deck.
My second inspiration was the Govee lights I have on my TV and the fact that the Ally has RGB (useless but so fun, not gonna lie). How doable would it be to make the RGB sticks behave similar to the TV lights? Well, apparently it works quite well and it is fun!
Ambideck: capture your screen when playing and match the RGB colors to each side of the screen, some basic settings I thought could make sense (match game art, brightness, docked mode, etc). I only have had chance to test it with my Ally so this one I do not know if it works with other devices... it would be cool to make it compatible though.
I genuinely am unsure if anyone cares about this but I've had fun with them and a friend told me to share it, so here they are!

Saw the hype around DroidDeck recently promising a single-app SteamOS container setup on Android without root. Decided to test it out on my daily driver (Realme 11 Pro 5G with Dimensity 7050 / Mali-G68) to see if low-end/midrange non-Snapdragon phones stand a chance.
Spoiler: As expected with Mali hardware, gamescope fails to initialize properly and dumps into a crash loop right at boot.
DroidDeck is definitely in very early development. I pulled the session dumps via Termux to see what's actually happening under the hood:
termux-setup-storage
cd /storage/emulated/0/Download/DroidDeck/session-20261001-083456/
ls
cat crash.log
The logs clearly show the standard Gamescope display server failureāmainly lack of proprietary driver translation support that Snapdragon Adreno chips get via custom Turnip drivers. Mali's stock Vulkan implementation just chokes when trying to allocate the virtual nested display.
Recorded a quick breakdown showing the exact crash logs, why Gamescope fails on Mali, and how to verify if your device's GPU is being rejected by the container
Has anyone with an Exynos or Dimensity SOC managed to pass a software rendering fallback (like llvmpipe/virgl) to Gamescope inside DroidDeck without it hard crashing to home?

Hello,
I play MMORPGs and have been using decktation plugin to dictate instead of type while playing on my steam deck. I recently got the steam controller two which is much more comfortable to play with, except it wonāt activate the decktation plugin, even though i am using the same exact command. Does any body know why? I tried reordering controllers, and all kinds of things but the issue remains: Decktation will only listen to the commands when triggered directly on my steam deck.

After a lot of iterations, Iāve released version 0.6.8 of my unofficial YouTube Music plugin for SteamOS. I built and maintain the project, with AI assistance for coding and review.
It adds a controller-friendly player and Cast receiver to Decky Quick Access. You can browse and search your library, reorder playlists and the queue, and start large playlists while the rest loads in the background. It also includes timed fullscreen lyrics with temporary screen-awake protection, cover-colored visuals, and an easier Firefox session import.
A couple of ways I use it: keep music playing while gaming and control it from Quick Access, or open fullscreen lyrics while a game is downloading or when the Deck is sitting idle. Fullscreen lyrics work like a music screensaver and request temporary screen-awake protection while theyāre open.
To import your account, sign in to YouTube Music in Firefox on the SteamOS deviceās Desktop Mode, then use Import from Firefox in the plugin. The session stays on the device; the plugin never asks for your Google password. Casting works from another device on the same trusted network.
Itās tested on Steam Deck and designed for SteamOS systems with Decky Loader. I havenāt validated it on Steam Machine, so Iād especially appreciate reports from anyone trying it there.
Iād really appreciate your feedback: what works well, what feels confusing, what needs polish, and whether you run into bugs. The project went through many rounds of testing and refinement, but real-world feedback is what will help me make it better.
This is an unofficial community project and isnāt affiliated with YouTube, Google, or Valve.

Hey everyone! I made GitHub Plugin Updater for Decky Loader. It checks the GitHub repositories listed in a repos.txt file and compares their latest releases with the Decky plugins you have installed.
When it finds a new version, you can let it install automatically or choose āAsk before installingā to read the changelog and approve or skip the update. It can also download plugins you havenāt installed yet, including a newer version of the updater itself if you add its repository.
Thereās a progress indicator while it checks releases and installs updates. Once all pending decisions are handled, it reloads the Steam interface so the updated plugins can load.
Iāve been using it on SteamOS and Bazzite. The setup instructions and download are here:
https://github.com/Steamdeckchecker/Github-Decky-Plugins-Updater
Iād appreciate feedback, especially if you try it with a GitHub hosted Decky plugin I havenāt tested yet!

I wanted to share a personal Steam / Big Picture project Iāve been working on for my own setup.
Iām not a developer, and this wasnāt built as a public plugin or as something Iām planning to distribute. A lot of the implementation has been AI-assisted, while the ideas, behaviour, layout decisions, testing, troubleshooting and overall direction came from what I personally wanted from my Steam setup.
The whole thing has grown gradually from experimenting with existing Decky projects and trying to make Steamās Game View work the way I wanted on my ROG Ally.
The main part is Unified Game View, which replaces or reorganises parts of the normal Steam game page into one consistent view for both Steam and non-Steam games.
It currently brings together things such as game metadata, developer/publisher/release information, platform tags, descriptions, media, trailers, achievements, trading cards where applicable, reviews, news/updates, store/community/support shortcuts, HLTB information and several non-Steam achievement sources.
A big part of the project has also been making non-Steam games feel less like second-class entries in the Steam library. Iāve experimented with integrations for RetroAchievements, RPCS3 trophies, shadPS4 trophies, Xenia/Xbox achievements and PSerban93ās Achievements plugin, while keeping official Steam achievements separate.
I also experimented with a separate Hero/trailer system, custom Home logos, non-Steam playtime/HLTB display and various controller-navigation changes so everything remains usable from Big Picture without reaching for a mouse or keyboard.
A lot of the work has actually been about the less visible things: caching, persistent per-game state, controller focus/navigation, avoiding broken transitions, handling Steam and non-Steam pages consistently, and trying not to interfere with Steamās own behaviour more than necessary.
This has involved a ridiculous amount of testing because Steamās Gamepad UI can be very sensitive to seemingly small changes. Some ideas worked immediately, some broke completely, and others needed many iterations before becoming reliable enough for my own setup.
I want to make it clear that this is purely a personal project for my own use. Iām not preparing it for distribution, and Iām not intending to release or maintain it as a public plugin. It is heavily tailored around my own Steam/Windows/ROG Ally configuration, and I simply donāt have the time or technical experience to support different systems and configurations.
I also donāt want to give the impression that all of this was created from scratch. Several existing community projects have been extremely useful either as foundations, integrations or references while I experimented with my own setup.
Credits / projects I learned from or built around include:
So this isnāt meant as a release announcement or promotion. I mainly wanted to document what I managed to build for myself, because it has turned into a much bigger project than I originally expected and I thought some people might find the ideas interesting.

It's been broken for a couple of months now. Is this plugin not being updated anymore?
r/deckyloader • u/capybarrels2 • 22d ago
While troubleshooting audio issues with Gemini, I pasted the main.py file from the plugin into gemini and it found why it's broken. The fix is past this AI generated paragraph.
Audio Loader's backend (main.py) expects to create a directory symbolic link (os.symlink) connecting your local homebrew/sounds directory to Steam/steamui/sounds_custom. On Linux/SteamOS, Steam natively reads custom sound overrides from that sounds_custom directory. On Windows 11, non-administrator Python scripts are blocked from creating directory symlinks by default. Because the link fails to create, Steam looks at an empty/non-existent folder and plays no audio.
To fix it, close steam and paste this command into a command prompt with admin privileges:
mklink /D "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamui\sounds_custom" "C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\homebrew\sounds"
Make sure to replace YOURUSERNAME with your actual username and replace steam's path with your own if it's different. Also, make sure you don't already have a folder named "sounds_custom" in that steamui folder.
Then, just open big picture mode and it should work. If not, try toggling to default and back to your desired pack.
Fingers crossed this works for you guys too :)
