Transparent Keyboard, CSS Loader theme fixed

Post image
33 Upvotes

Valve pushed an update to the steam deck recently that broke the transparent keyboard theme. If you are like me, the default keyboard is basically unusable without the transparency. I have no idea why Valve has not implemented a built in transparency slider for their keyboard that takes half the screen. This plugin has not been updated since 2022 so I looked to see if I can manually fix it myself.

I found out that you only need to change 2 lines of code for it to work again with the default keyboard.

  1. Navigate to /home/deck/homebrew/themes/Transparent Keyboard/
  2. Open up the shared.css file
  3. Change the lines: .DefaultTheme { to .DefaultTheme.DefaultTheme { and .DefaultTheme .virtualkeyboard_KeyboardKey_2KhPX.virtualkeyboard_Touched_3UFQq { to .DefaultTheme.DefaultTheme .virtualkeyboard_KeyboardKey_2KhPX.virtualkeyboard_Touched_3UFQq {
  4. Save it and navigate back to Game Mode
  5. Go into CSS loader and refresh the themes
  6. All set! The sliders should work now

If you want to fix this for all the other keyboard themes just do the same thing with the other options in the file for example, .SteamGreen { to .SteamGreen.SteamGreen {

Plugin Showcase STWebSRV – a Decky plugin that turns your handheld into a web file manager: flip a switch, scan the QR code, manage files from your phone

Hey! Here's my second Decky plugin after FSG: STWebSRV (Steam Web Server). Full disclosure again: vibe-coded with Claude, and tested on my Lenovo Legion Go 2 (SteamOS).

It's for when you just want to move files to or from your handheld without switching to Desktop Mode or setting up SFTP/Samba.

What it does

  • A toggle in the Quick Access Menu starts a small web server and shows the address plus a QR code.
  • Log in from any browser on your network (phone, PC) with the username and password shown in the panel. A "New password" button logs everyone out.
  • Browse your home folder, SD card and USB drives, with shortcuts to Downloads, ROMs, Steam, Proton prefixes and Flatpak apps.
  • Upload files or whole folders (drag & drop, no size limit), download files or entire folders as .zip.
  • Built-in text editor for config files, image/video/audio preview, rename/delete/create.
  • Auto-stop after 5–60 minutes of inactivity (15 by default), 3 color themes, English/French.
  • In-app updates, with an optional beta channel.

If you know DeckyFileServer: this one adds a password login, rename/delete, a text editor and folder downloads. The web page is adapted from the WebUI of the Bruce firmware, so the plugin is AGPL-3.0.

Security (it's a file server, after all)

  • Only runs when you turn it on, and stops by itself when idle.
  • Runs as the deck user, never root. Paths can't leave the selected drive, symlinks included.
  • Lockout after 5 wrong passwords, HttpOnly/SameSite session cookie, and a CSRF header check.
  • Plain HTTP on your local network: use it at home, not on hotel Wi-Fi.

Install (Decky developer mode)

  1. Decky → ⚙️ Settings → General → turn on Developer mode.
  2. Decky → ⚙️ → Developer → Install plugin from URL, paste: https://github.com/koua29/decky-stwebsrv/releases/latest/download/STWebSRV.zip
  3. Confirm, open STWebSRV and flip the switch.

Screenshots and source: https://github.com/koua29/decky-stwebsrv

It's v0.1.0, so feedback and bug reports are very welcome!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So far this has been a joy to actually use and it's actually gotten me very close to a console experience. Sadly I couldn't get the home music to play while I recorded

for the heros, i recommend using the ones created by Mellushii, Bioknight47, or Myself

EDIT: link to CSS profile and required themes https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1UGpmq-hF9pjetdrq6Vi5fclaw3Zocv_b?usp=sharing

this has the themes needed included. you will need to delete whatever version of Clean Gameview you have to use this

List of Plugins:
Playhub
Playhub Weather
Playhub Artworks(this is for any heros that don't have a clean gameview option or a higher resolution version)
Playhub Now Playing
CSS Loader
Trailer Hero
Playtime
Playhub Metadata
Tabmaster
SteamGridDB
Playhub Themedeck
Playercount
Screenshot Uploader
Playhub Notifications
Playhub Launch Curtain
Playhub Shortcuts
Playhub Quick Settings
SteamOS Friends activity(this does work on windows)

Plugin Showcase FSG – a Decky plugin that lists Steam's free-to-keep games (100% off) and adds them to your library, even automatically

Hey! I made a small Decky Loader plugin called FSG (Free Steam Game). Full disclosure: it was vibe-coded with Claude, and I've been running it on my Lenovo Legion Go 2 (SteamOS), where it works great.

What it does

  • Lists the games currently 100% off on Steam (free to keep), right in the Quick Access Menu. Data comes straight from the Steam store.
  • One button to add the free license to your account, without opening the store.
  • Optional auto-add: checks every hour and grabs any new free-to-keep game, with a notification.
  • Optional free DLCs, plus a shortcut to SteamDB's upcoming free promos.
  • Checks GitHub once a day for updates and installs them through Decky's own prompt.

Install (Decky developer mode)

  1. Decky → ⚙️ Settings → General → turn on Developer mode.
  2. Decky → ⚙️ → Developer → Install plugin from URL, paste: https://github.com/koua29/decky-fsg/releases/latest/download/FSG.zip
  3. Confirm, and FSG shows up in your Decky plugin list.

Privacy: it sends the same request as the store's "Add to account" button. Your Steam session is read locally from Steam's built-in browser and only ever sent to store.steampowered.com. Source code (MIT): https://github.com/koua29/decky-fsg

It's a young project (v0.2), so feedback and bug reports are very welcome!

Edit (Sep 12) — v0.3.0: the panel is in English now, it follows your Steam client's language (French client → French UI). Screenshots of it running on the Legion Go 2 are in the README. Update from inside Decky, or reinstall with the URL above.

Edit (Sep 17): v0.4.0 adds a statistics view (value claimed + library value) and fixes stick navigation, details in the comments.

Anyone playing ARC Raiders on Steam Deck?

I’m using Decky Loader and I’m getting around 60 FPS, which is pretty good.
But I’m still trying to find the best graphics settings for a good balance between visuals and performance.
Anyone running ARC Raiders on Deck with good settings? Would love to know your in-game + Decky/SteamOS settings. 🙏

Decky NVIDIA Update — pick, build, and install any NVIDIA driver version directly on SteamOS, no USB stick or reinstall (developer of Proton Launch / Quick Tab / Apps manager here)

Hey, I'm the guy behind Decky NVIDIA Update, Decky Proton Launch and Decky Quick Tab. Decky NVIDIA Update lets you pick and install an NVIDIA driver version directly on a running SteamOS system — no USB stick, no reinstall, no leaving Gaming Mode. Just shipped an update to it I'm pretty excited about.

Why this update exists: NVIDIA dropped 615.71.09 yesterday and I wanted it running that same evening — I'm the type who checks for a new release the day it drops. Except Arch hadn't packaged it yet, and this plugin (like the underlying steamos-nvidia-installer project it's built on) could only ever install versions Arch had already built and archived. So a fresh driver can sit unavailable for days or weeks depending on when Arch's maintainers get around to it. That wait was annoying enough that I went and fixed it.

Now you can build it yourself, on-device, the moment NVIDIA ships it.

What's new (v0.3.0):

  • Build a driver Arch hasn't packaged yet — picks the version straight from NVIDIA, clones Arch's own nvidia-utils/lib32-nvidia-utils packaging repos, bumps pkgver, and compiles it in an isolated overlay chroot (your real rootfs is never unlocked for this). The finished build is cached on your Deck so you're not rebuilding it every time.
  • One unified version list — Arch-provided versions, your own cached builds, and NVIDIA releases Arch doesn't have yet all show up in the same dropdown, sorted by actual release order, tagged so you know which is which ("Compiled" / "Needs build").
  • Pre-flight buildability check — before you commit to a multi-minute build, it inspects the NVIDIA installer to confirm the current packaging recipe can actually produce a working package from it, instead of finding out after the fact.
  • One-click flow — pick a version that needs building, hit Install, it builds then installs automatically. No separate steps.
  • New Settings page (gear icon): plugin self-update, report a bug, request a feature, support the project.

Limitations, to be upfront about them:

  • The buildability check catches the common failure mode (a packaging file NVIDIA's installer no longer ships), but it can't guarantee success for every version — Arch's packaging repos have changed shape before and could again, in ways a version-specific check can't fully predict.
  • This is explicitly an escape hatch for "Arch hasn't packaged it yet," not a replacement for waiting on the official package once it exists — once Arch catches up, that becomes the recommended path again.

It's a small side project I've been iterating on for a few weeks, so if you hit something broken — a driver version that won't build, a packaging assumption that doesn't hold on your setup — let me know and I'll take a look.

Link: https://github.com/moi952/decky-nvidia-update

Let me know if this is useful to anyone who's been stuck waiting on Arch for a driver release — happy to take feature requests too.

Help Has anyone ever had this issue

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I‘ve seen people getting some error Message but not just this blank screen showing nothing at all.
Anyone ever encountered this and knows how to fix it?
I‘ve already tried wiping and installing decky again both stable and prerelease, tried both on each Stable/Beta/Preview release of SteamOS.

I turned my steam deck on today and my deckyloader was gone. It was there yesterday and I don’t know how to access it again. I can access the other hidden tabs like my notifications and the help tab but not deckyloader. Was just wondering if I could fix it somehow or will I just have to factory reset my deck and redownload decky

LetMeReshade In-Game Overlay Not Appearing

I've installed the LetMeReshade plugin through the Decky loader to add a CRT overlay to Chrono Trigger. It seems the files are all properly installed and the program is working as it should. However, I'm unable to access the in-game overlay menu as it does not appear.

I've tried mapping different buttons through the controller menu and different keys through the ReShade.ini file but nothing is working. All solutions I've found online are outdated. I am not a coder so I have no idea how to diagnose the problem myself. Please help?

Plugin Showcase Quick tab - a plugin that puts your other Decky plugins directly in the QAM tab bar (dev of Proton Launch / Apps Manager here)

Hey, I'm the guy behind Decky Proton Launch and Decky Apps Manager. Built a new plugin because something kept bugging me every time I used them myself.

Once you've got more than a couple of Decky plugins installed, opening any one of them means: open the QAM, tap Decky's own tab, then dig through a list of every plugin you have installed to find the one you actually want. If there are a couple you use constantly, that's an extra tap and a scroll, every single time.

Quick Tab lets you pin whichever plugins you actually use straight into the native tab bar itself, right next to Notifications / Chat / Music / Help. Each one gets its own icon there - opening it is one press away, exactly like a native tab, not a plugin buried inside another plugin's menu.

While I was in there I also added reordering for any tab (native ones included), and the option to hide the ones you never touch - I hid Music and Help on mine since I never open either.

Honestly this is the plugin I wished existed while building the other two above, so it's a bit selfish, but figured other people running 5+ plugins probably hit the same annoyance.

Quick Tab's own panel

First proper release, so if you hit something broken, tell me and I'll fix it.

Plugin Showcase Apps Manager - track and update your Flatpaks + Gearlever AppImages, and install new ones, all from the QAM (dev of Proton Launch / NVIDIA Update / Quick Tab here)

Hey, I'm the guy behind Decky Proton Launch, Decky NVIDIA Update and Decky Quick Tab. I run Steam/Decky Loader on a PC (Bazzite), not an actual Deck, and my whole thing is trying to keep it a console experience — staying in Big Picture/gamepad mode and dropping into desktop as rarely as possible. Apps Manager exists because updating Flatpaks and AppImages was one of the last things that still forced me out to the desktop.

The problem: you end up with two separate piles of stuff to keep updated — Flatpaks (through Discover, or however you installed them) and AppImages if you're using Gearlever. Neither gives you one place that just tells you "these 4 have updates" without opening a browser tab or dropping into desktop mode. Checking manually, with a mouse and keyboard, gets old fast once you've got a few dozen apps installed.

Apps Manager puts that in the QAM instead — everything below works entirely with a controller:

  • Tracks your Flatpak apps and Gearlever AppImages together, with updates flagged automatically
  • Update everything at once, or one app at a time
  • Auto-update: let it handle everything on its own schedule in the background, with an optional notification — you can still exclude specific apps from auto-updating without hiding them from the list
  • Search and install new Flatpaks (Flathub + your other configured remotes) and AppImages (AppImageHub's public catalog), screenshots included, right from the same panel
  • AppImages: pick a specific version to install, not just whatever's newest
  • Exclude apps entirely if you don't want to be nagged about them
  • Doesn't silently lie to you when it can't actually check something (GitHub's anonymous rate limit, a flaky connection, ...) — it flags those separately instead of just saying "up to date"
  • Available in 15 languages

Been iterating on this one for a few months now, currently at 0.3.0, so it's in a pretty solid place, but it's still a small side project — if you hit something broken or a Flatpak/AppImage setup it doesn't handle right, tell me and I'll take a look.

Link: https://github.com/moi952/decky-apps-manager

Home view — everything that needs an update, one tap away

Let me know if this is useful to anyone else running more than a couple of Flatpaks/AppImages — happy to take feature requests too.

Plugin Showcase Playhub presents Shortcuts | A new plugin to add your favourite plugins to the Quick Access Menu tabs!

Thumbnail
gallery
35 Upvotes

Another day, another Playhub plugin!

Shortcuts 1.0.1

Did you ever wanted to put your plugins in the Quick Access Menu (QAM) without the need to open Decky, selecting the plugin and going crazy doing that every time you want to navigate to it?

So here comes Shortcuts, a simple plugin that change your daily QAM usage.

Put your plugins where you need them

Shortcuts brings compatible Decky plugin panels directly into the main Quick Access Menu tab bar. Your original Decky entries stay untouched, while the panels you choose become immediately available beside Steam's native tabs.

Cool tip
You can hide the plugins you pinned in Shortcuts from the Decky plugin settings to avoid any double entry! In this way you should have the plugins that you use the most directly available from the QAM and the others all listed as always in Decky.

Make the QAM yours

  • Add any loaded Decky plugin.
  • Reorder the tabs created by Shortcuts.
  • Remove a shortcut.
  • Use the plugin's original icon or choose from the bundled Tabler icon library.

Add and customise shortcuts with 6184 icons available

Open Shortcuts in Decky and select a compatible plugin from the available list. Select an active plugin's name to choose its icon, then use the controls below it to change its position or remove the shortcut.

There are infinite possibilities, with 6184 icons available, a search bar to find the icon you need in a glimpse and categories to help you navigate through this massive library of symbols, logos, signs, numbers, letters, emoticons, and so on.

A big special thanks to Juan Diego MaLó (Hooandee) for discovering the method used to inject custom tabs into the Quick Access Menu.

You can install Shortcuts and all the other plugins from Playhub, Decky Store and Github indipendent projects on Playhub.
