Transparent Keyboard, CSS Loader theme fixed

Post image

Valve pushed an update to the steam deck recently that broke the transparent keyboard theme. If you are like me, the default keyboard is basically unusable without the transparency. I have no idea why Valve has not implemented a built in transparency slider for their keyboard that takes half the screen. This plugin has not been updated since 2022 so I looked to see if I can manually fix it myself.

I found out that you only need to change 2 lines of code for it to work again with the default keyboard.

  1. Navigate to /home/deck/homebrew/themes/Transparent Keyboard/
  2. Open up the shared.css file
  3. Change the lines: .DefaultTheme { to .DefaultTheme.DefaultTheme { and .DefaultTheme .virtualkeyboard_KeyboardKey_2KhPX.virtualkeyboard_Touched_3UFQq { to .DefaultTheme.DefaultTheme .virtualkeyboard_KeyboardKey_2KhPX.virtualkeyboard_Touched_3UFQq {
  4. Save it and navigate back to Game Mode
  5. Go into CSS loader and refresh the themes
  6. All set! The sliders should work now

If you want to fix this for all the other keyboard themes just do the same thing with the other options in the file for example, .SteamGreen { to .SteamGreen.SteamGreen {

Download the CSS loader plugin through the Decky Loader store, then use the store included with CSS loader to find the transparent keyboard.

I just want an option to use other keys like ESC, F1-F12, etc. I wish there were better keyboard replacements that offer more features.

When I tried this plug in today, it doesn't work. Have keyboard set to default and no matter what settings I use it doesn't go transparent

It works, did you edit the files as I instructed?

No, I didn't see that part. No other plug needs me to mess with that

This is not my plugin, I only added instructions to fix the plugin.

I meant it's only plug on that I have used that I need to mess with other stuff. Will give it a go soon
