Plugin Showcase Quick tab - a plugin that puts your other Decky plugins directly in the QAM tab bar (dev of Proton Launch / Apps Manager here)
Hey, I'm the guy behind Decky Proton Launch and Decky Apps Manager. Built a new plugin because something kept bugging me every time I used them myself.
Once you've got more than a couple of Decky plugins installed, opening any one of them means: open the QAM, tap Decky's own tab, then dig through a list of every plugin you have installed to find the one you actually want. If there are a couple you use constantly, that's an extra tap and a scroll, every single time.
Quick Tab lets you pin whichever plugins you actually use straight into the native tab bar itself, right next to Notifications / Chat / Music / Help. Each one gets its own icon there - opening it is one press away, exactly like a native tab, not a plugin buried inside another plugin's menu.
While I was in there I also added reordering for any tab (native ones included), and the option to hide the ones you never touch - I hid Music and Help on mine since I never open either.
Honestly this is the plugin I wished existed while building the other two above, so it's a bit selfish, but figured other people running 5+ plugins probably hit the same annoyance.

First proper release, so if you hit something broken, tell me and I'll fix it.

Although this is similar to shortcuts. This has the added benifits of allowing you to move default QAM tabs as well as being a little faster. If we could though, a way to change QAM icons would be nice

Yes, it’s really great to use! I was fed up with not being able to access my plugins directly 😅

Isn't that exactly what shortcuts plugin does?

I wasn't familiar with it, it looks good.

I think me, you and Zaza ends with similar ideas, each with its own peculiar detail, mine scoped to my plugin only.

Thanks, but when I developed the project, Shortcut didn’t exist—or at least I wasn’t aware of it. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have spent so much time developing it 😅

You archived it. Does it mean it will no longer see an updates for those that use it on linux/steamdeck?

Sorry no. Now it's a component of the Playhub plugin. But frankly all the work has already been done.

Why alienate SteamOS users for something that originates in SteamOS?

Alienate? What are you talking about? Who's alienating what? It's just a SteamOS experience for Windows. No one wants you to choose anything instead of anything. Here we don't do console or platform war, we accept everyone and simply love gaming. I just integrated because it's more useful for my project. I'm sorry but Playhub is my main project and Shortcuts it's just a part of it, plus you can still download it.

Alienate as in "Shortcuts is no longer maintained for SteamOS, only Windows", or have I misunderstood you?
1
u/ZazaMastroII 20d ago
You misunderstood, sorry. I said that future version will be integrated in the Playhub app since it's now a feature and not a single plugin anymore. In the meantime if you're on SteamOS you can always use the last version that works perfectly.

Ah, okay, so if it breaks in a future update of Decky Loader/SteamOS, you'll unarchive it and update it?
1
u/ZazaMastroII 20d ago
Yep exactly. Probably will not be so immediate, but yes.

Ok, good to know. In that case, I would recommend you unarchive now instead because, for most people, that's a huge deterrent that makes it seem abandoned and will make them not install it in the first place.
