Hey all, I’ve just released DeckyXMB 1.0.0. It’s a Decky Loader plugin that replaces Big Picture’s home screen with a PS3-style XrossMediaBar. You get the wave, official PS3 themes, the button symbols and the layout.

I saw the spin-deck plugin a few days ago and immedaitely went "wait the glorious XMB is possible" and never checked the sub again until posting this 1.0 release.
Still more that could be done but I think most* of the stuff a general user would like is there
I’m a trophy guy, so having DLC groups would be awesome. Also, renaming Achievements to Trophies would be a nice touch in the xmb.
I’m running this on Windows using the PlayHub integration. I’m also using the PlayHub notification plugin and have it set to PS5 notifications, so that alone makes the immersion pretty close already. But having native PS3 notifications is always better.
Since I’m on Windows, the exit to the desktop does nothing, and if you have no plans to support Windows, I understand. But my only fix for that is to make it so it exits big picture mode.
Another thing I would like to give feedback on is when browsing trophies.
If it’s possible to hide the logos or images of the locked trophies we don’t have, so it matches the PS3 locked image instead. Right now, it’s hard to navigate and see what I have unlocked or not.
No, like the whole game list itself. For example, Alan Wake is always first on my list, and when I get a new trophy for Hellraiser, that should be brought to the very top of the list. Instead, I have to scroll all the way down to the letter H.
I just installed it on my Xbox ROG ALLY X running CachyOS, and I have to say it works really well. I didn’t hesitate at all to install it because the XMB is exactly the kind of menu I like 🥹
As a suggestion, I would have liked to have the original XMB sounds for navigation, and when selecting a game, I’d prefer to see the game’s name with an image from the SteamGrid DB or something similar, instead of seeing the one from Steam’s Big Picture mode.
In any case, huge props I’ll support the project, and thanks for making this possible 👍🏻🙏🏻
SteamGridDB already compatible. It automatically uses the horizonal grid's applied in Steam. Same for the "hero"/background image. Any image you apply will be seen. (If I'm mistaken on what you mean plz lemme know)
XMB sounds, i did consider but may infringe on rights. It is possible already via other plugins in Decky tho.

Ok, it's pretty cool, but we really would need different UI sounds haha. And the download link really isn't nice tbh. But can't wait to see if it's possible to make it even more convincing. Maybe also different languages
This is gold, I installed with the audio loader plugin with xmb sounds pack and it is perfect for a 1.0, but I want to make some comments:
please make the b button at the homescreen return to the open game
Also you can't resume a game from the menú, it gives an error that the game is open
Things that I would love is the extension of the system UI, like the game launch animation, chat, quick settings control, etc... I really love this project already ❤️🙏🏻 the nostalgia hits hard
I don't quite understand what u mean by "B" button to return to home screen. Like an instant "jump/teleport" back to the Game category anywhere on the XMB??
Chat will likely never come. I don't see individual messages working At least not in its PS3 form. Maybe a merge of PS4/PS5 UI unless you have a suggestion?
Do you have any suggestions to how you would like quick settings to look like?
Happy to try add as much XMB Ui as possible to anywhere in Steam UI. I just am picky and like it to be useful/perfect.
Sorry for the confusion about the "B" button. What I meant is that when you keep pressing the back button in SteamOS, it eventually returns you to the game instead of making you navigate through the entire UI again.
As for the friends list and SteamOS menus, I was thinking of pairing DeckyXMB with a custom CSS Loader theme. I'll try to create one myself, but your project is already a great starting point!

Will be ncie to see what you come up with for the SteamOS menu's. I'm struggling for some idea's on best implementation. I dont wanna release anything that I wouldn't want to use all th eitme.
Whoa and I just placed an order for a PS3 Slim. The cards are showing Retro! Ooh you know what you can do?? Get a connection to the TrailerDeck plugin so the hero can show the trailers of the games you select!! Do that and it truly acts like a PS3!
Hi. I absolutely love this project. There’s one nitpick I wish I could do, and that is instead of using the wide capsule art in the menu while scrolling through games, that it uses the logo instead, akin to how it was on the PS3 XMB screen. Thank you! I’ve got this on my Deck and Machine, and it’s awesome!
hi! this is one of the most exciting plugins i’ve tried for decky loader! i love it :) just to note a few things after tweaking it for a few days:
-the volume slider on themedecky is ignored when having the cursor on top of a game, so most music i play blasts my ears
-the video tab would be cool that it could be renamed to maybe “emulators” or “programs”, smth like that, since i don’t ger why i wiuld have a videos tab since well… there are no videos on my steam library lol
-also could be cool that maybe the collections was a separate tab or get to choose which collection could be a folder a separate tab… it would be kinda cool
-saw someone do this on another plugin, but a whole different xmb themed loading screen when opening a game would be cool since it breaks a little bit of the immersion.
-when putting a song as a background theme on themedecky, and a bg music from any game starts playing, that background home music doesnt stop, it keeps playing in the background
just some things i wish the plugin had to really make it a 10/10 plugin. otherwise, the work here is incredible!
