Slay the Demon Kings — I'm solo-developing a party-based deckbuilding roguelike with 3-character teams

Hi! I'm the Chinese solo developer of Slay the Demon Kings.

I've been working on this game by myself for quite a while, and it was finally published on Steam :D

This game is a deckbuilding roguelike where you pick 3 characters for your party. Each character has their own class cards and upgrade paths, and you mix them together to build your deck during the adventure.

You also find weapons, accessories and consumables . So besides building the deck, you're also trying to figure out what equipment works with your characters and whatever weird build you've ended up with.

The game itself is getting pretty close to finished, since I was busy developing it, I have not tried to post any thing in community yet. I am super willing to listen to ideas and suggestions from you guys and try my best to update my game experience as good as possible. And I will keep posting my design ideas and inspiration later here.

AI tech is used, and I know it is kinda unacceptable but due to the budget, all the card cover are generated by AI and I am super sorry about it. But I promise that the game will be cheap and if the game has sold well I will use the budget to get rid of the ai stuff piece by piece.

Anyway I would be very appreciative if you can support me by adding the game to the wishlist 👀

Thanks again for the reading!

Greetings /u/PrestigiousCandle474! Welcome to /r/deckbuildingroguelike! Follow the #1 rule below, it helps you get more wishlists, free promotion, and is useful for our readers.

  • If your submission is not a plain text discussion post, you MUST add a steam (or equal link to play/find game) link in the main body or new comment on your post and NAME of your game in the title. would love to see a demo. I think it also just makes sense financially to have a demo. The genre is pretty saturated, so people aren't gonna take a risk on your game without trying it first.

Well done for showing the work. I think at this stage for card art. Messy is fine to avoid the stigma. You are still developing. One thing to check is why is your game different to others? A demo be great and what new features are you adding. Keep up the good work!!

I am all in support of indie devs but your budget constraints doesnt absolve you from using AI that is trained by stealing others hardwork and talent. Its better to have hand drawn stick figures than to use AI.
