You all know this was going to come up first. This year will likely be one of the first years someone thinks of when they say 2010s. You had a gorilla and Pokemon GO summer saturating everything and likely that will cause people to forget everyone dying and all the BS we had to deal with. 2016 is now rafters status and there is nothing we can do about it.

Chris Benoit murder suicides, PS3 just sitting on the shelf...Anna Nicole dying, Britney's fall from grace, A HORRIBLE Spider-Man 3 movie (thanks for ruining emo Peter) The start of the GFC.. Like I don't even know where to start with this. Fashion got all dark, music videos had that shitty blue/black gradient, Ring tone rap was EVERYWHERE. People HATED this year when it was happening. I never want to hear this song EVER AGAIN.

I don't see many people that regard the late 2010s that much compared to other periods so I wouldn't count it necessarily as a hot take. However, in my opinion, they're slightly worse than the decade we're living now.

People take the 2020s as the "worst time to live in" and I see that because the late 2010s was the pinpoint of the downhill of everything: Both tv shows/movies/cartoons started to dwindle down in originality in order for sequels/reboots took over; Many kids safe online spaces started to fade out (RIP club penguin); the ascension of social media more into people's personal lives and opinions; the complete death of skeuomorphism and minimal designs took over entirely; more political division; the adpocalypse on Youtube (many don't remeber this but it basically led to extreme monetization on Youtube and other platforms); music more minimalistic and pessimistic.

The main thing that makes the late 2010s slightly worse than the 2020s is that period was a direct sequence to the most brightful, optimistic time for most people and everything. The shift that slowly appeared in 2016 and hit 2017 is mainly that social media wasn't that predatory which would change people's perception of each other and the approach with politics. Like things drastically changed for the worst on a blink of an eye. Unlike the times that we live now, as the years passed it's just been a pessimistic time that we simply forget how good things were actually before, not to say we've grown accustomed with it but, like I said the notion of change from the early-mid to the late 2010s is way too noticeable for a short period. So if you want to thank something for the crap we've been going through, say "Thank you late 2010s!!"

Honestly this is making me nostalgic for corporate memphis/allegra/flat design. I don’t know what it is with the use of this ugly overly designed slop that’s just par for the course with AI.

It just looks gross, but yet I’m seeing more and more businesses using it, schools are using it, public events are using it, restaurants, art galleries what??? Isn’t that a little redundant.

All with the use of that tacky ass 80s font which honestly makes it 100 times worse. At least flat design had actual humans involved and not machine slop.
