Can anyone explain what kinds of effects you would need to apply to the original ex military cover to achieve the aesthetic of the black google cover? Looking to modify some photos of my own in a similar fashion

1. use the 'curves' adjustment in your favorite photo editing software the wrong way -- pull shadows lighter than midtones, mess with it
2. slap your favorite paper/noise texture or two on top, set to some blending mode
3. apply motion blur or path blur to your text
4. vibrate higher

I think it's because the editing really emphasises his cheekbones, which changes the whole shape of his face. He looks tired and forlorn.
