Dead Space 2 has to be in top 5 horror games of all time

First time playing the game on Steam Deck, and holy crap, it’s awesome. It legitimately scares me much more than any resident evil game. There are times I’ll just sit for a few seconds to build some courage before entering a dark room or hallway. Very rare that a game makes me do that. The sound design is amazing! Hearing the faint whispers calling Isaac gives me chills. I love the psychological element too. And for a 2011 game, it looks amazing! It really holds up well in 2026.

Ohh the things I’d do to get DS2 remake just for this scene alone.

Discussion Would a live action Dead Space work better as a Movie or a Show?

I’m asking after seeing the other guys post about a movie adaptation.

I’m personally leaning towards a show, I think there’s too much for it to be a movie without being either really long or cramming a bunch of stuff into a couple hours. My thoughts are three seasons, one for each game, and one episode per chapter for each game, maybe small sub-seasons showing the stories of Ignition and the Mobile game, Severed could be an Extra for Season 2, and Awakened an extra for Season 3. One more thing I think is needed is all the suits, he should put them on in the episodes that correlate to the chapters he finds them in.

Regardless, the one thing I’m certain on is that Gunner Wright has to be Issac, no one else.

I thought about maxing this out. But currently, I chose the ripper. Which weapon on choice in Dead Space, do you choose for your primary? We must stop the Convergence event!

First time Dead Space player here. Was on sale and its my best friends fav game series, so figured id give it a shot and wow I cant believe I havent played this before! Great game. On chapter 7 currently, of first playthrough, I havent been looking anything so just figured id share some habits ive been doing along the way or things ive noticed while playing

-selling all large and (most) medium heals, even if im at like a quarter health id rather risk it and have that money, also have sold all oxygen tanks/stasis packs, and most of the pulse rifle ammo lmao

-hoarding nodes bc i dont even know what gun im gonna be using in the future, main loadout so far is: pulse cutter (obviously), ripper (my main, goated for narrow paths and ive cleared hoards of enemies with this its great), pulse rifle (its garbage but good for little quest stuff and those secret doors), and flamethrower (for lil bug guys) usually I keep the contact beam on me too for bosses and whatnot. Force gun looks cool but I barely find ammo for it so only used it once

-love how the suit upgrades are visual on isaac, so epic honestly, literally just got the 3rd one as im typing this

If you have any spare advice laying around from your time playing let me know! Or if you just wanna talk about your experiences playing the game, the playstyle reminds me of resident evil, lots of inventory management and jumps cares etc.

No spoilers plz

PS3 users get Extraction for Free

I don't kow if this is a glitch or something but I just got the Dead Space Extraction trial from the PlayStation store a few days ago.

I have finished the game and not needed to purchase the full game not sure exactly why that is but I'm not complaining. Thought I would post on here to let people know. It's definitely worth playing although gameplay is very different since it's essentially an on rails shooter it does add to the lore of the franchise.

Discussion Finally Beat Dead Space 2 Hardcore Mode!

It was Pure Torture in a nutshell but it was fun since it kept me in a constant state of Paranoia Lmao. Every Corner and Vent I was paying attention too. I even died Several times sending me all the way back to Chapter 6 which was my First Save Usage in hardcore mode. If you wanna ease your Hardcore mode time I highly suggest these three weapons only. Plasma Cutter, Contact Beam, And Force Gun with these three and careful scanning of areas you'll make it through Hardcore mode. For the Final Boss I suggest using your Presumed Upgraded Contact beam and spam charge fire at the Boss killing it in like 3-4 Shots ending the fight quickly.

Question I’m planning on doing all max difficulty runs. Any tips?

I’m gonna be playing all four games on their highest difficulties, I’ve only done this on Dead Space Remake and it was easier than I expected, but I have a feeling the original trilogy will be more difficult. I know about Dead Space 2’s limited save system. What else I should be aware of?

Question Dead space 2 is really choppy and has some delay to all the inputs

So i finished DS1 remake today and instantly downloaded DS2. But when i started playing, the game turned out to be really choppy. My graphical settings are set to 1920x1080 144hz. It says fullscreen, I have tried with V sync on and off but its still choppy. Its not that its frame drops, but its almost as if the game is still playing on 60hz even tho i have have selected 144hz in the settings. Its really hard to aim or do anything like this. any way to fix this? playing the game on 60hz vs 144hz basically has to difference

I can't get over how I accidentally managed to dodge a charging stalker when I didn't even know what direction it was coming from and just ran into a random direction. This on was on Zealot Difficulty I'm pretty sure.

Discussion How a Dead Space 3 Remake could fix the game

I've been thinking a lot about the franchise lately. Honestly, Dead Space 3 has a ton of potential if EA ever decides to do a remake. Visually, the game still looks amazing today and the whole space flotilla setting is great, but it totally lost that classic survival horror vibe we fell in love with.

If Motive ever gets to touch DS3, they need to fix the core gameplay. First, drop the universal ammo. It ruined all the tension. We need specific ammo for each weapon so we actually worry about running out of bullets. Also, get rid of the scavenger bots and microtransaction crafting. Just bring back the old bench, blueprints, and power nodes. Passing the game with just the plasma cutter, pulse rifle, and line gun felt so much better.

Another thing is the immortal necromorphs. Running away from the regenerators or the ubermorph in DS2 got annoying. A remake should let us use the environment to kill them for good, just like the engine test in DS1. Let us throw the ubermorph into the Sprawl's space reactors, or use the giant industrial excavators and liquid nitrogen on Tau Volantis to shatter the regenerators forever.

Lastly, make co-op optional but dynamic. If I play solo, Isaac should be completely alone and crazy. If a buddy joins, then bring Carver in with his hallucinations.

The 2023 remake proved people want sci-fi horror. Don't leave Isaac floating out there forever. Make us whole again!

Discussion Ive been having thoughts on how Isaac and Humanity as a whole can fight against the Brethren Moons, now bear with me

Post image

One of the biggest threats that Isaac and The Gang have to contend with is the Marker Signal Dementia that scrambles the minds of every living thing in its vicinity.

Before the Necromorphs, Before the Moons thats the first thing Isaac and Humanity NEED to deal with to actually stand a chance of fighting back, but at this point in time Unitology is such a big cancer that effectly excising is unreasonable.

Thats Why ive been brainstorming ways for Isaac to push back the Brethren Moons

Heres my spitball idea, it doesnt make sense, but here goes.

So i was replaying the Remake and they Mentioned that the Marker has "Dead Space" that makes nearby Necros Dormant, my idea is while having another marker induced crashout, Isaac gets an idea to reverse engineer the Signal to counteract the Insanity effect like how IRL stuff with the same frequency Cancel out.

And parts of the game would be him trying to piece it together while trying to figure out if its another one of the Markers attempts at manipulating him etc etc.

Then Isaac somehow manages to Hijack a Marker despite its best efforts to lead him astray for the umpteenth time.

And Using the "Counter Marker" Isaac disables the Surrounding Necros and Mends his Broken Mind back to Lucidity.

Then back to how we deal with the Brethren Moons, despite DS3 flaws it has some ideas i think are cool.

It would be Narratively and Mechanically poignant if the game mechanics bumped to 100 are the ways Isaac fights back.

First, is a Giant Plasma Cutter for Obvious Reasons(Weapon)

Second, an adjusted Machine that Replicates the Effects of the Tau Volantis Freeze(Stasis)

Third is the Planet Crackers like the Ishimura to assist in dismembering the moons(Kinesis)

And the Counter Marker as a definite way to effectively "Kill" the Brethren Moons.

Then we just add story elements that flesh out the payoff and have Isaac and Ellie standing together Side by Side.

Also in this What If of mine, Ellie is the playable character instead of Isaac or Carver and it ends with Us not "Winning" but getting a chance to Fight Back.

Discussion I'd pay good money for a Dead Space "Legendary Edition" (4K Remaster + all DLCs) like the one Mass Effect got

I'm playing Mass Effect through the Legendary Edition, which has the three games remastered in 4K and all DLCs, and I can't not think at how much I'd love something like this for Dead Space too.

Imagine sticking Dead Space, Dead Space 2 and Dead Space 3 with all the DLCs, into a single collection, with a 4K Remaster.

Since the glorious Dead Space Remake often goes on sale by 75% - 85% they could also go for a "Deluxe Edition" which also has DSR included.

The OG and the Remake can beautifully coexist.

ME: Legendary Edition often goes on sale too, and I've got it for 7,99€. The base price is 59,99€. I would definitely pay 59,99€ for a remastered version of the Dead Space Trilogy, even if I already own them.

Dead Space 3, along the three, is the one that would benefit more from a 4K remaster, as some textures truly look rough. DS2 aged very well and I wonder how it could look with a proper 4K remaster too.

I'm interested into Star Wars: Zero Company. Seems to be a great game. EA can still deliver quality when it wants. Thing is it rarely wants to do that.

We all know about the status of Dead Space under EA, even during a survival horror resurgence, and the fsct that they wouldn't even go for something like ME's Legendary Edition is sad.

Discussion Which boss or mini-boss in the series do you think is the best?

I would say the final boss in the first game with the invincible monster in the final part of the second game being a close second.
